Flying something small like this indoors, be sure to turn Air Mode off. When you bump into ALL THE THINGS indoors, Air Mode reacts too abruptly and will actually cause you to crash more.
@@SylvieTheBagel It's a feature in BetaFlight that helps give authority when at zero throttle. Something small that's flown indoors, you don't spend much time if any at zero throttle. When you bump into something, instead of it being just a glancing blow it reacts severely by ramping up the motors trying to correct itself, usually resulting in a crash. But outdoors, you should always have it on.
Bought this 2 months ago based on your recommendation and i’m blown away! I had never flown fpv and this is one of the best ways if not the best way to get into fpv. I’ve crashed my th3 so many times and only about a week ago, some cracks started to show and i’ve got an extra frame for just 12 bucks lying around. Already got the TH 2 Freestyle for outdoors and its nice how it all works with the radio and display of the th 3 rtf kit. Thanks a lot for your great work!
I jumped into the FPV hobby about 6-7 weeks ago. I went into it with a TinyHawk II. My computer is on the verge of being "not good enough" for sims, but I did download a sim, and after only about 5-6 hours on the sim, I was flying in acro mode reasonably well. The TinyHawk kit's been awesome for me. The TinyHawk III looks better too, so I am tempted to get one. The only thing I changed when I got my TinyHawk II, was that I bought a better transmitter (after about a month). That helped me quite a bit, but the stock controllers are OK for someone who's new to it all. This newer controller looks better than the one supplied in the TinyHawk II, so you may not even need to get something better initially. Shame about the DVR issues. Cheers for the review.
1. Try CurryKitten sim, go into settings, set resolution to lower, and you'll get 300+ FPS. 2. Try the TH 2 Freestyle. Powerful, stupidly, and works great. Or, get a 6s BabyHawk. It does about 70 MPH, and is super fun and powerful, while still being usable.
Been flying larger quads for 4 or 5 months now, so this video isn't super relevant to me, but I love all your content. Wonderful stuff for beginners, this is where I send friends who are interested in taking their very first steps into FPV. Great production value and thoughtful content.
I bought this last week, and they have updated the kit a bit, addressing some of your concerns. There is now a micro manual attached to the goggles and a leaflet that folds out with some basic info about the kit. The radio/ controller also has stickers now, which I find very helpful. Thank you for the review by the way.
The exact same thing happens with DVR on the BetaFPV VR01 goggles (at least when they're used with the Tinyhawk II Race). Every small bit of breakup seems to be amplified in the DVR.
I purchased a beta FPV pro a while back and I can fly it kinda good. In a simulator like Liftoff I am quite a bit better, especially at larger drones. I have been hesitant to buy a larger drone because I am too worried about a one flight and destroy scenario.
Just gotta take it slow once you start flying in real life. Stay closer to the ground and keep a low camera angle so that you fly slower. You should be able to fly consistently without crashing in the sim though!
@@MattPochwat I can stunt fly in the sim and only sometimes crash. I can fly conservatively in a confined space and pretty much not crash. Like that one parking garage level, I think it's called Zero Hour or something like that.
Omg I love it so much. I don’t really have that much money, but I am definitely going to ask my parents to get it for my birthday, because I have recently been very interested in the fpvdrone hobby and this is super easy and cheap. This video really helped, tysm.
Great review. The set would be a little better value if it came with at least a couple of batteries for beginners, but 1s batteries are cheap. Its just going to be kinda a bummer for someone new and excited to get this kit and figure out they can only fly for short time before having to stop and charge instead of being able to change a battery and keep going.
Hey, great video, thanks! I have the Tinyhawk 2 and I'm surprised by how fast that roll was at 2:42. Are you using the default rates? I' tried changing my rates but even with full roll and no throttle I crash every single time indoors. It seems like my roll rate isn't fast enough. As you can tell, I'm relatively new to fpv. Do you have any advice?
Yep I always try to use default rates in my reviews. The Tinyhawk 2 might be different though. You should definitely try increasing the rates. I'm sure it'll help!
Thanks sooooo much for making this video! I really think that this will invite more people into FPV and is a easy way to get started! Thanks and I love your videos!!!
It just depends on your priorities and how much time you can practice in a simulator. The Tinyhawk freestyle is more agile but does not have any protection. With enough time in the simulator first it’s definitely possible to start off with the TH Freestyle. If you don’t have the ability to practice in a sim, then having the propeller guards on the tiny hawk 3 will be very helpful. You can also fly the TH3 inside.
Nice to see the controller and googles upgrade. my TH2 kit had issues, the throttle would suddenly drop when positioned around hover point and the battery box cable for the headset was not held in properly.
Just curious, what does it do when you go beyond its range? does it continue on or will it shut down and crash? I mean, how much trouble would you be in?
My first goggles were BetaFPV VR01 (usually shipped in beginner RTF kit) and it has the same problem with DVR. Exactly same white flashes and breakups when the goggle screen only display minor glitches.
I have this kit but I would like a low cost 4 or 5 inch freestyle drone, if possible I would like to take advantage of the radio and the glasses, is there any way? Which do you recommend? I'm from Brazil.

Hey matt, could you do a video on omni and patch goggle/drone antennas and which ones you recommend because I find it to be really difficult and confusing choosing antennas and there's very few guides on them.

From my understanding which is limited, the ham license is for transmitting video specifically. But it's cheap, and kinda easy to pass. There's a free practice test you can take over and over which is the same exact questions that the tests are made from, so it's not that big of a deal if your serious about the hobby. Not worth doing it with out license, fines are hefty!
