People forget Superboy Prime is superboy from the golden age of comics and superboy/man powers were off the charts. Also no natural weakness. He literally punched thru reality to get to their universe.

He ain't just the embodiment of will he is also a Daxamite, Kryptonians that left Krypton. He is as strong as Super Man or a bit less.

i know supes one million is supposed to be stronger and have a whole bunch of extra abilities but superboy prime will always be the top tier supes for me - he doesnt give a damn goes all out and is able to eat pain and dish it out has some insane feats. it is a shame that ion didnt learn to use his powers better before this battle but dont think it would have made much difference .... thanks for the video
True he does get the run back with sodam in the future. The interesting thing is that over the years the green lantern rings have grown a fear to superboy prime.
Supes 1 million is overw*nked, all the hype and statement no real feats backing it up unfortunately, however Superman Prime does have great feats.

Holy cow, what a battle. This wasn't a fight, this was a WAR.
This fight represents one thing I loved about the Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps War. That it was just that: a WAR. Not some mere little spat that would be forgotten next week. This felt like something that would shape the cosmos for generations to come.
I love how Sodam Yat was booked here. You could tell that he wasn't just another hero in spandex coming to trade witty barbs while flipping around - he was a soldier in a war, deployed to neutralize a threat. I love how he fought on through everything from the lead poisoning he caught, fatal to Daxamites, to the brutal onslaught of Superman Prime. This fight made me a believer in Sodam Yat.
I also loved Superman Prime's booking. He was snide and smarky, yes, but the menace and psychosis was also on full display. I mean, the man actually ATE URANIUM. He was this unceasing engine of destruction, and I really liked how the graveyard scene seemed to underscore him being this chaotic agent of death.
Well done. Man, they don't make 'em like they used to.

@@FernandoComicsOfficial no problem! I had been following Prime for a while - I first saw him in Infinite Crisis, and his story fascinated me. A former hero - the only one on his world - who spiraled into violence and madness... it really hooked me. I hate what they did to him recently, but before comics got crazy he was one of my favorite characters.
This spot really sold me on how unhinged he was. Sure, he's Kryptonian and uranium probably wouldn't do anything to his physiology... but it was the imagery, the fact that he did it to intimidate Sodam, that really impressed me.

You know, i am kind of confused why Superman Prime, until the Battle against the Batman who laughs, counts for so many here as stronger then the normal Superman, especially when he is compared to Silver Age Superman, considering that Superboy was always stronger then Superman. So i don't get it why it's such a big deal for so many here that an even stronger Superboy would be so strong and durable.

I keep coming back to this vid. I think this might be one of my favorite comic book battles of all time. It's got all the makings of a superpowered prize fight, with absolutely dire stakes. You can feel the quiet desperation building as victory slips further and further away. It's just so good. The music and editing just perfects it. Thanks Fernando, for the great vids!

Green Lantern characters are so monumentally disappointing that its physically painful.
Matter Manipulation doesn't work on Prime. Even fifth dimensional matter manipulation doesn't have an effect. And Prime broke 300 mile of will power of the entire lantern corps and the guardians
Sodam Yat was green as green gets. He was the newest member of the corps at that time. If Kyle was the one weilding Ion I think the fight would go much differently. Prime might win but it would be more difficult.

The first Ion was Kyle Rayner, who was basically Parallax for the Green side. He was quite literally, godlike. It seems disappointing that when that power is given to a Daxamite, who has near Superman like power, he still gets curbstomped by the twilight Silver Age asshole.
That Twilight silver age asshole is a whole plot device that, according to Secret Origin, cannot be matched
For someone who was supposed to be godlike, it didn't take much to bring Kyle down.

This brought to mind the Green Lantern Blackest Night series crossover I think was called Justice League International. Sadly, in it, was only a mention and not a depiction of Superman said to be on the other side of the galaxy for the past 50 years holding back a GLC invasion of Earth. Now that's a fight.

Monarch vs Superman Prime was a really good too. Short, but good. Prime proceeded to tank the end of the universe in that comic.

He lost his amp already and he tanked space time continuum busting blast. A quantum erasure. With amp he can destroy earth 15 with 0 effort. He also punched through 5th dimension which exists within Bleedspace and is a imaginary place. With his heat vision he tore a hole in source wall, collapsed the universe he is in.
@@BlackRacer4 Running out and completely losing the amp are two different things he was still amped during the explosion and he was bigger to prove it, it was only after the explosion he lost the amp and went back to his original size.
No he didn't tank the blast without an amp he was still amped when the blast went off he was only running out of the power not completely depowered and he only punched through the 5th dimension with the amp so why exactly are you trying to ignore context? When did he collapse the universe he was in either?
Gotta be honest. All the vaunted power these two are supposed to have but the collateral damage was pretty light. I mean at one point ion used a tombstone to choke SBP. Shouldn't a fight between them destroy planets and stuff? The graveyard is still there. It's the thing about power scaling on characters who fight on Earth or other habitable worlds. It never lives up to the hype.
The same reason that Superman vs Darkseid, Goku vs Buu well any powerful beings really rarely destroys the planets their fighting on it would make for a really dull series run lol.

At least DB made the idiotic attempt to move the battle to a wasteland that was always just over there. Heroes should always try to move battles away from Earth if they are on this scale. If they can't there should be terrible consequences. Writers can do better. But it makes power scaling really hard when two guys who are this strong destroy a graveyard.

You just tried to act like in a comic universe these things can't be done and you ignored the other half of what I said. Don't use these characters or threats if you can't explain why the damage is so minimal. How is the fight supposed to have meaning without consequences? It's not about luxury, it's called better writers with imagination. Stop excusing lazy writing. Don't have Darkseid invade Metropolis if you can't figure out a way to minimize the damage. Don't have Hulk fight Sentry in NYC if a single block is all the damage. Writers play God in these things, they can do anything and you're acting like it's not possible.
Characters like this always bored me. Feels like watching Infinity vs. Infinity+1. The story, or what passes for one, doesn't help.

You know despite the fact that this is a really cool fight I do have a problem with the fact that at no point in this fight does Sodam ever try to use red sun light to weaken Superboy Prime. Like I know he is immune to the worlds kryptonite but the green lanterns literally had him in a red sun prison before this and yet even with the basically limitless power of the green lantern god he never tries this.
He has the power of the primordial god of will in him and he went hand to hand lol...yeah, didn't make much sense ! looked good though
he also fought to subdue, you can't hold back like that, the bad guy never does. He could have been just as brutal and cut him in half or at least cut off limbs.

I always wondered if the fight would have remained even if he didn't get caught up directly into his proverbial kryptonite.
The fight went on for "A few more hours" after he fell there, His ring was channelling all its energy to heal his wound and keep out the lead. I assume it did it's job if he was able to keep the same fight up for multiple hours more before finally losing
@@primehunter844 Unfortunately it couldn't completely heal the lead poisoning so he had to wear the ring despite having the Will entity in him. I don't think Daxamites get a cure for lead poisoning until the 31st century.

I was surprised that Sodam Yat lost, Ion is a primordial being that "willed" itself into existence. Along with the physiology of a daxamite which is very similar to kryptonians I was certain he was going to win, effortlessly, I always considered this to be PIS.

Always loved this fight, Prime was a force of nature and you never knew what he'd do next I like characters like that they are the most interesting and entertaining. It's the reason why I don't really care about characters like the main Superman because it's the same shit with them you know what Superman will do before even reading the book but characters like Hulk or prime you never know what they'll do next because they've been on all sides of the fence and are unpredictable.
When you put it like that, I do think prime does get rather enjoyable. But holy hell is he a mouthy bastard. One of the goofier edge lords i’ve picked up on.

He also had a really tough time fighting anyone when everyone was taking turns in beating him down before he fought Sodam Yat. I’d say Starbrand went against a stronger team and was more impressive imo. Though, he as limited showings.

Superboy-Prime is the greatest comic book character of all time and is the only one that can share our universe with us. He is one of us.

Feels kind of stupid that Ion realized he has to kill halfway through the fight. I know he wasn’t going to beat him anyways, but with the locks off him, he and the guardians should’ve always had that in mind.

probably uses after effects, but i'm pretty sure the warping effect can be done in any compositing software, he's just warping a still image.

I use adobe premier pro for most of the motion ! The ones like where Ion's blasts are moving are from an app called motionleap ! Takes a while but not too difficult !

There was a rights issue at the time with the creator of the "Superboy" character iirc so they had to call Prime, Superman Prime
He comes from earth prime where there are no superpowered beings. He was just a powerless kid. Soon, his powers manifested, and he was visited by earth 1 superman, giving him the name superboy prime. Only when he started to go insane he claimed superman prime.

Sodam Yat should have won. He was doing well until Prime stabbed him with lead pipes which are a Daxamite's weakness. Good on him to take as many hits as he did.
He really wasn't winning in any point of the fight here so I don't think so.
@@Super-Saiyan-Blue-Gogeta Fair but at the very least he could've won seeing how he was trading hits before being poisoned with massive amounts of lead and even after he still tanked a few hits.
@@fork6057 Trading blows doesn't really mean anything as it'd mean there isn't anyone with a clear advantage over the other. Him being poisoned is simply a turning point; either way he still lost even with many buffs while SuperBoy Prime didn't have any. *Basically meaning he had no means of winning.*
@@Super-Saiyan-Blue-Gogeta Trading blows means he was on the same level as SBP and they cant fight forever so one would have dropped eventually. Prime did have a buff. The buff of plot. The plot making Prime conveniently find the one weakness of daxamites midfight.
@@fork6057 Prime's power is pretty consistent throughout many events so plot isn't really an excuse to count as a buff (poor excuse tbh). You can't really say he "found" his weakness as they simply just happened to crash into that particular place (that's literally like pointing out someone crashing into a random building is any fight). *Now stop crying about it with your lame excuses and accept it.*
