DC has never...captured the ferocity of the first doomsday appearance. One of the greatest stories I have ever read in comics.

I always loved what doomsday represented to Clark. He was the end. He taught Superman the meaning of pain and was the first to make him feel the most primal type of fear the fear for one’s own life. Superman is genuinely scared of doomsday because tho he is FULLY willing to lay down his life for others just like any one else Superman doesn’t want to die. And death by doomsday is a painful death. Superman doesn’t relish the feel of getting hit tho he doesn’t mind It and is willing to take the strike he doesn’t want to feel that pain and doomsday was the first to put him in true agony and the first to put an end to his life.

Probably one of the best fights in the New 52 era. Doomsday treated like a legimate life or death threat to the cast and any reasonable plan just doesn't work. He just keeps coming back.

In Hunter/Pray ,Doomsday War, Reign of Doomsday or the DC Rebirth version in this very video. These Issues is after TDOS that Superman Fought DD again and again can’t do any real harm to DD or sometime even got help from Doomsday himself like in Our World at War or in Gog War. So Doomsday don’t get completely nerf after The Death of Superman He just get nerf only by a weak writer who never know how to use him correctly.

He was a fine recurring villain during post-crisis. They used him sparingly enough for his threat to still be believable.

I sympathize with you on doomsdays constant returns. Yet he’s had plenty of fun battles like this one that almost makes it worth it. I think it was inevitable that the creators would have to bring such a popular character back to be honest. Maybe a good compromise would’ve been to bring him up mostly in else-world stories? I dunno. You either have to change what doomsday is to a fault, or else he becomes one track and pretty boring as a recurring menace hmmmm.
Horrible character. As a literary tool, he's worse than kryptonite or "red sun" radiation. Only entertaining for people who like watching Superman get the crap beat outta him as far as I'm concerned.
@@paulrowland4786 1.well I can’t in good conscious deny that Doomsday is a shitty character. Hell you can barely call him one anymore. His abilities adapt but his personality doesn’t. If anything it devolves. Even when he’s sentient he’s bland.
That being said I at least enjoy superman getting a proper challenge. But I think that can be accomplished with any of supermans rogues when a writer doesn’t undersell them. After all supermans has needed help in the past at least ocassionally with his more recurring villains.
2. Well superman should have some sort of weakness with powers like that. But I understand why you’d think they’re stupid weaknesses. After all you’d think a kryptonian would adapt to be fine around an element native to his homeworld. And even if red run radiation doesn’t fuel his power, I wouldn’t know why it would drain it.
I think fans want to see Doomsday fight the Justice League. The first encounter he didn’t take on the muscle the Justice League had. Warner Brothers did a okay job showing a fight with the League and Doomsday. If the League in Warner Brothers gave Dark Side a problem I would think the League would put up a better fight with Doomsday than what the movie showed. I think DC should make a comic with the League giving Doomsday a toe to toe fight.

Yep. My boy Doomsday kicks ass once more and Superman shows yet again why he is such a fantastic character.
You know, in a way, I feel that, just like Lex, Doomsday is Superman's opposite. Superman is a man who cares about life, has a simplistic design and represents all the virtues and values of modern man. Doomsday is a monster that hates all life, has an over-the-top design and represents the ultimate lack of humanity. Doomsday is the final boss, the final test for Superman. So yes, Fernando, I do as well feel that Doomsday should not be overused. Still, I feel that this specific comic did Doomsday's return well. The impact of the first time they fought was still present and there was a clear showcase of how much Superman has evolved from their last encounter, both physically and mentally, while Doomsday kept his level of intimidation. Plus, it was a pretty clever writing decision to make Superman adapt his tactics in order to face a monster with the power to adapt and to not repeat the mistakes of the past.

This fight was legit. I've always felt like speed blitz attacks in comics follow video game logic. The overall attack is stronger but each hit is much weaker so against extremely durable or regenerating enemies it might not actually be the best choice. Maximizing the pain per hit against someone like DD seems like a better strategy.

@Andrew Hager It was a being named Imperiex who was the main antagonist in a big event back in 2000 or 2001 called our world's at war. He was basically the DC version of Galactus. He was pretty powerful. Sun dip Superman put him on the ropes though.
@Andrew Hager He's been killed permantely before in Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey #3 where a Mother Box sent Doomsday to the end of time and he was permanently destroyed along with the whole universe.

@@george-nikolas942 Superman and Flash. I know people might say "Flash? He's not even that powerful." But in the comics Flash is an absolute beast. I believe since he can easily outpace Doomsday, it would allow him to move Superman out of the way of Doomsday's attacks. Plus, his ability to steal and give speed makes him incredibly valuable for creating openings for Superman. Not to mention his infinite mass punch being capable of knocking out someone as durable as Superman in one punch makes it a genuine ace up his sleeve, the only con being the momentum needed to use it, but if Superman keeps him busy long enough it wouldn't matter. It's likely that Superman could use the time bought by the punch to throw an infinite mass punch of his own, allowing them to infinite mass punch combo him.

Putting Doomsday in 100ft of solid adamantium would be the equivalent of putting Joker in Arkham asylum and thinking that he'd stay there.
@@burgerbandit3646 I know this is comics and all, but one of the components of strength is explosiveness and momentum. If you can't move then most of your strength is negated. It's like asking someone to punch you as hard as they can but telling them they can't move. 100 ft of basically unbreakable material is not a trivial matter given that set up. The Hulk was able to break adamantine on one maybe two occasions, but he was able to swing with all his force. I'm sure the writers could figure some way out of it, but it wouldn't be trivial.

@warwik Xio in Superman&Lois Rebirth he said that he is weaker than before, but he didn't know the reason. Then in Reborn we learned that when Flashpoint happened Superman split in two, one Superman is captured by Braniac(has p-crisis memories) one is retconned in universe(New 52)then in Reborn 2 Superman merged together. I recommend you to Superman&Lois convergence and Superman Reborn, both are great comics

a disturbance in the mines erupts as earthquakes are happening in that very same mine used to enrich X Kryptonite. A big Hulking form steps up out of the darkness in a jumpsuit with glowing light bulbs on a few spots on his body. breathing snorting brewing.
I think what would be compelling is following the story set on Krypton the series where Doomsday was an actual kyrptonion that was artificially mutated into the form we now know. Imagine if there the same Krytonion technology used to mutate him reverted him back normal!

Doomsday can't keep being brought back because of the nature of his ability, if you can't kill him the same way twice then making stories with him will become more and more difficult until you eventually just have to ignore that or have him be written out

I think this is Doomsday's most impressive feat of all time. He gets punched in the face by Superman 4,035 times within what appears to be two seconds, and proceeds to fuck up Superman and Wonder Woman as if he didn't even feel it. It's mind boggling.

Go to WWH vs. Sentry. Sentry can move to comparable speeds as Sups, since he’s a Sups knockoff.
WWH is able to match *combat speed and reflexes.* Hulk was able to tag Sentry going at light speeds. All Hulk needs is awareness of where his foe is at.
Normal, running speed. Of course Sentry (or Sups, in this case) would win. But combat speed, Hulk can match speedsters and their flurry of punches. You just to do a little more reading, rather than making absolutes. Easy to make the logic, and you’re missing something, dude. Trust me, happens to all of us. Just read a little more and connect the dots.

Honestly I think they should have stopped with doomsday after doomsday Rex. 1 Superman Doomsday into submission he really shouldn't have remained a recurring billing. I mean I understand they want to do Tuesday to be some Primal polar opposite to Superman but it just doesn't work. Doomsday and Superman are essentially locked in a evolutionary arms-race since they both have the ability to evolve past whatever stress is puts their lives in jeopardy. Is Superman's case once he finishes the stress Evolution he can encounter the person again and again and defeat them with some early greater eased unlike the earlier encounters with doomsday where he had to beat doomsday in a different way every time he encountered him. Now it's like they're just brawling with each other and don't really care if they live or die it just doesn't work anymore. Admittedly one version the Doomsday that I enjoyed was the one that went after Magog after doomsday thought that my God could kill Superman who stayed back to back with doomsday to fight him knowing that his family members and friends were a true simply because he could not abandon a thinking person who came to his Aid when he was fighting in the Army of Magog time duplicates

I've never read the version of this story between Doomsday vs Superman and Wonder Woman, does anyone know of which comic that we can read the version that is shown in this video? For me the original story is the best it brings back memories I wish they would make a movie based on the 1992 comics with Justice League it would be epic also I know Supergirl that we see in the comics of 1992 is not not Kara Zor-El it's Matrix a creation of Lex Luthor I believe. I still liked the adaptation of Doomsday in the movie Batman v Superman (in which based the story arc by Zack Snyder for the continuity in Justice League 2021 not the corrupted version of Joss Whedon we saw in 2017) which would be General Zod transformed into a monster and I know some doesn't like it but I believe that Superman did not meet the real Doomsday in that movie, imagine the real one!
