Sadly, when it comes to most female superheroes, street level as well as many upper tier characters, it's usually about 'girl power'. It's dominance over men, those who would otherwise exploit them, when they battle and are declared the victor. Wonder Woman is not in Superman's class, she's beneath him, but her attitude and her gender are often used as plot devices.

@@asasdsaasda The idea that WW has greater combat experience than Superman can be argued to be negligible. In Superman 761 he and WW spent a 1000years in Asgard fighting demons alongside DC's Thor. Superman has also trained with Wildcat who also trained Batman, Mongul, WW herself, and Batman. Plus, Superman knows but rarely uses Kryptonian style martial arts that allow him to leave his body among other things.

I never understood why WW has any chance fighting Superman. She's strong, but not as strong as Kal-El. And she has combat training which is probably superior to his. BUT, he has super-speed. He should be able to avoid any attack she tries, and hit her any number of times. It shouldn't even be close, even when he is holding back. The only answer is SJW plot armor; as a woman, she can't be shown to be weaker, despite decades of lore.

My favorite dynamic (versus) between these two is when Diana comes off as the greatest middleweight UFC fighter on the planet, and Superman comes off as an all-pro NFL offensive lineman. Both clearly have different advantages in different situations. In a fight, you could easily see how either would win if the fight went one way or another. If strength is the main factor, yeah, Supes should win 9 times out of 10. If Diana can keep space and use her strikes and leverage, she should equally win.
I've never enjoyed either version where it was just "oh, well, this one is stronger, full stop." Not only because it takes the interest out (think of DCEU Justice League where Supes was stronger than everyone else, including the villains, put together). But there's just no nuance to characters that are ALWAYS stronger. It takes away from the idea of the team being greater than the sum of it's parts, which is what made comics Justice League really shine.
Superman is vast Superior to Wonder Woman, even the way his scale make him out of her league but his constant holding back give Wonder Woman a serious chance to win, i would say a normal Superman have around 60 to 65% to defeat Wonder Woman

DCEU superman was the worst offender of this in recent memory. it destroys all dramatic tension when superman has the ability to singlehandedly manhandle the entire team without breaking a sweat, or just punch the big bad into submission all by himself
