Prodeus does everything right, but I don't know why, for me, it feels very tiresome. Can't stand to play more than 10 minutes before getting a feeling that the levels should be a lot more shorter.
Did you hear about the hidden feature in Alien Resurrection for ps1? You can use the game as a boot disc to play burned discs, pretty cool. A developer brought this to light after more than 20 years, Sony and other developers who worked on the game had no idea about this feature.
@@ItsASuckyName That video is 1 month old, so in 1 month, the price went up (mostly on ebay)? Anyway my ps2 is "mechapwned" (it is like a debug/test system now), 100% regionfree and plays backups too (ps1 and ps2). no modchip or swap magic discs, just that.
A new rise of the triad game?!?! ROTT was the very first pc game I played where I dialed my friends PC for direct vs play over a phone line. I was blown away at the time!
I disagree. Heretic and Hexen have a Dark fantasy vibe, they're more Dark Souls in terms of tone. Wizordum is too much colorful and light hearted. It reminds me one of the first ID games, forgot the name.
Had fun with Warhammer 40K Boltgun, but recently I've been enjoying the remasters of Quake and Quake II. Takes me back to playing Quake II on PSone. Great game.

Hello MJR, first of all my wife and I love your "show", my wife for the locations you travel and I for the nerd retro greatness you lookup.. if you have not seen already a great Boomer Shooter "Prodeus".. horns up mate 🙂
Great video! I just bought Impaler and Beyond Sunset, loving both so far. I will also get Turok 3 as soon as I'm done with the first two games. Keep up the good work!
The one boomer shooter I'm aware of is coming out this year is another Nightdive remaster being Star Wars Dark Forces, which is a cult classic on the PC and PS1, something I've been wanting to sit down and do a full run for sometime now, cause I'm a huge SW fan and like the odd FPS game every so often, especially boomer shooters with their arcade arena goodness, such a thrill ride from beginning to end.
I remember having so much fun with Duke Nukem 3D on the PC back in the day, but I have to admit I did play with cheat almost all the time. Edit: Oh I almost forgot Outlaws now that was a fun game! "Where are you Marshal?" "You're outnumbered!" and the music was fantastic.
Honestly though, classic games always had *fun* cheats to use. Even if it was as silly as a big head 'cheat' or infinite lives, everyone used cheats for different reasons. I used infinite lives as a kid to explore the world and not worry about falling to my death when I was somewhere I shouldn't be LOL GameSharks and action replays were awesome to have back in the day.
Battle shapers is another really good boomer shooter like game. it’s a rogue like and they originally pitched it as a cross between Doom and Mega man. you fight your way up different towers and at the top of the tower you face a Mega man style boss.
Every played Serious Sam?? It's one of my personal favorite Shooter series. I'm way into Jrpgs these days so I've kinda put off play boomer shooters but since I'm getting a ps5 soon I can finally play Serious Sam 4 and it's dlc
Gotta leave a positive comment as always! Love the new content after the break last year! Had a note i think you'll like. One thing i appreciate with list videos is when they leave the game/movie's title on screen while talking about it. Often i find myself making notes or even researching multiple additions on a list while the video runs. If i could see the title at all times not only in descriptions for time stamps, but as long as its on screen that's real convenient! Thanks!
I try to leave those titles up long enough for people to read them TWICE...or about 10 seconds. Glad you noticed! I personally hate it when I watch videos and the title is barely up for a second or two.
Beyond Sunset is kind of a breath of fresh air for GZDoom-based games specifically. Lots of the ones that've been released before it on the engine have been rather samey. Would highly reccomend
What are smoking? Ashes 2063, BOA, Total Chaos, HEDON-Bloodrite, Silent Mound, Project Crypt, Operation Hunk all well crafted fan projects are all unique and offer mega tonnes of fun which is a great deal more than can be said of multi bijillion $ ip fun genocidal sweatshops that offer up nothing but shitware. What's this smack talk about samey? Ever played Call of Duty in Brutal Doom Extermination Day? I have and its fan bloody tastic.
Playing this game called Nightmare Reaper and definitely it is something special for a boomer shooter remembered your vid about them and just wanted to share.
Awesome. While I'm a zoomer who grew up with the later generation of tactical shooters, I'm steadily growing to love boomer shooters. They're fast, frantic, and fun as hell. Can't wait to play through some of these--after finishing Turbo Overkill, of course.
One "Boomer Shooter" I highly recommend is Powerslave. It came out in 96. It was one of the first games I was a game tester for. They recently brought back the Sega Saturn/ PS1 version with a HD facelift. It looks great but they only ported then PC version which is far superior IMHO.

My favorite shooters are Ashes 2063, Turbo Overkill, Viscerafest, Dusk, Cultic, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior (1997), Hyper Demon, Forgive Me Father, and Quake.
I would recommend Nightdive’s remasters of the Quake and Doom titles. there is a ridiculous number of free add- ons for all of them and they keep adding new ones, especially for Quake 1.
