I love that theory that the Blue lightsaber that Palpatine wields in the Dark Empire series is the one that formerly belonged to Agen Kolar. It's a neat way to refer back to the Prequels and is also a fitting way for Palpatine to continue mocking a Jedi Master and Council member that he so easily killed.
The actual explanation was this was before the Sith as a concept really existed/Vader was the only red lightsaber user known at the time, but this in-universe theory is pretty good
There's generally the belief that the reason Exar Kun kept his blue lightsaber was because he didn't know red crystals existed. Sounds silly but truth is everything Kun learnt about the Sith he did through holocrons which had no way, or really a reason, to clarify that the Sith wielded red blades. I personally find this explanation a lot more interesting and fitting of the time period
That especially makes sense considering Exar Kun was using the first double-bladed lightsaber in history (iirc. I can't remember if it was the first ever or the first in so long it was forgotten). He was basically making it up as he went along in a way lol.
@Wes Bradley-Taubner Also remember at that point Kun and Nadd were early sith that actually used proper lightsabers unlike Sadow or Kressh who used literal swords or Xoxaan and Karness Muur using prototype lightsabers. So it's possible the red lightsaber tradition for sith had not been invented yet (Besides Kun looks cooler with a blue saber)

This is a video I've watched several times, since it was released, and really enjoy. During his SWTOR appearances, he's seen with a purple saber. One example, of that, is SWTOR: Shadow of Revan. The other example, that came to mind, is Galen Marek. Now, this one seems to vary depending on which version of TFU 1 you go by. In the game and comic, Galen's saber obviously starts off as red. However, when his priority shifts from hunting Jedi, to rallying allies against the Empire, he transitions to a light blue blade. In the TFU 1 novelization, again, his saber starts off as red. However, I've heard that, following his healing aboard The Empirical, PROXY gives Galen, Rahm Kota's lightsaber As all TFU fans know, Kota's lightsaber is green. Then, there's another change which I'm not 100% certain of. I know that, in the novel, Galen is gifted his father (Kento Marek)'s blue crystal when he returns to Kashyyyk. However, and I don't know if Evan or Connor will see this comment, they mention, in their TFU Fanalysis Part 2 video, that Galen kept Kota's green crystal, combined his father's blue crystal with it, and this results in Kota's saber producing a turquoise blade. (If anyone's who's read the TFU novelization, sees this comment, please could you tell me if Galen just swapped Kota's green crystal, for his father's blue one, or the blade colour merge (from green to turquoise) is explicitly described.) I mentioned Galen because, regardless of which version of TFU you go by, he was still Vader's apprentice for the majority of the time he used a Jedi lightsaber colour.

30:36 I LOVE THE WAY YOU TWO ARE HAVING THIS FIRESIDE CHAT AS IF THESE THINGS WERE REALLY ACTUALLY HAPPENING. I WISH IT WERE SO. VERY INFORMATIVE GREAT CHANNEL.
In KOTOR when Revan gets his Crystal for the test if you ask about the colors the master does say that Purple if those that walk the line of the force of using both sides
I don't remember dorak ever stating this, pretty sure he focuses solely on blue, green and yellow and says something about other colours being out there in the galaxy but never specifying anything about them
I'm just here to say Congratulations on making it to 100k subs Evan. May the force be with you and your family in these times your in and hope you continue to crush it at life.
I remember being in elementary school and knowing that red lightsabers could shatter the sabers of other colors but no one believed me. How the heck did I even know that at that age 😂😂
what do you mean by "lightsaber stability"? do red lightsabers tend to stop working or even explode? and why would red blades handle worse? aren't they all weightless energy blades? and are red blades stronger than other blades in more ways than just being able to break them? and if so, how?
Why no revan? I’ve always been so confused on why he went from a blue in the mando wars to a red as a sith to a green in the novel to a purple in swtor
I think I can make an educated guess given legends content that we know. Blue during his time in the Mando war makes sense as while he was a tactician, much like alak he was first and foremost a warrior, a Jedi guardian, he devoured knowledge of the force but also honed his skills with the lightsaber at the same time. Red is obvious, dark side he's a sith now. Green I think is meant to be a visual representation of revan becoming wiser from his journey, as the green blade is for the Jedi consular, one who doesn't intend to use the lightsaber first and would rather be wise and make peace before battle erupts. Purple is cause revan or revan reborn is a "combination" of both the light and the dark side as he was able to utilize both to a highly capable degree and was pretty powerful, though this can be questionable as that revan is the dark half of him that stayed in the physical world.
I think that one's saber color belies their inherit strengths and weaknesses of character in more of a spectrum From Sith - Jedi Red - Bronze - Purple - Yellow - Blue - Green Not saying a green Jedi, or red sith wouldn't fall or a red Jedi or green sith is completely nonsensical. It all makes sense when taking everything into consideration, and if it doesn't make sense; perhaps we don't have the full story
Great video as always Evan! If I could make a suggestion for a discussion video topic I think it would be interesting for you could speculate about what it would be like if Darth Tenebrous was able to accomplish his version of the grand plan. Using the maxi-chlorian virus to possess Anakin’s body and become the most powerful force-user. Just a thought :)
You guys forgot about Darth Revan he used a blue lightsaber as sith or a purple one depending on the media also kyp durron who wielded a purple lightsaber
Don't know if you have considered using Laranth Tarak in one of your versus episodes. She's a Grey Jedi that dual wields blaster pistols so could be interesting to see what you come up with.
So I've been rewatching and you've missed Satal Keto with vibrosword if we count him, King Ommin had a pair of swords, Cognus with her blades at the time of her inclusion to the order, Maul with Darksaber, Carnor Jax, Jacen with his vibroknife
@@TrajGreekFire And the inquisitors were trained by vader, some hands and dark side elite by palpatine, dark acolytes by dooku etc...and also starkiller (although this one is not that clear). They were all trained by sith, was any of them a sith? Nope. Jax wasn't even a dark jedi, he was just trained in some basics of the force.
Dang man, I never thought about the light sabers colors like that, I think that’s great purple is like the blue saber for the sith. That’s brilliant man lol. And after the sith rule of two started, it stayed red. And the purple was a saber that Jedi could use if they was close enough to the dark side they can get it lol, but it’s still a dark side color like red.
did you take you can make Qui-Gon Jinn vs plo koon and maybe then Qui Gon vs Kit Fisto versus ki-adi-mundi to see if he was powerful against those three and maybe then Qui Gon Jinn vs his master Dooku to see if he's worthy to face him and beat him
I would love a sequel! These discussion type videos are very fun. Quick question: Has anything in EU/Legends ever referred to lightsaber crystals as “kyber” crystals?
10:30 Incorrect, as Darth Gravid used red/green(iirc). Gravid tried to meld Jedi and Sith philosophies and went mad from it, being killed by his apprentice who restored the true Sith way.
That is what they were talking about, they did not list Gravid as a non red lightsaber user, they compared his and Caedus' attempts to meld Sith and Jedi philosophy
this was an awesome video guys i’ve always liked Sith Lords that wield other colored blades i think it looks cool one of my favorite things about Swtor in fact. would love to see the jedi version of this
What does that mean the red crystals are in harmony with the dark side? Does that make them more powerful, like for example the force user becomes faster because they are tapping into the force with anger plus the red crystal?
Jensarrai just named my perfect lightsaber a dual phase/dual bladed lightsaber like agen kolar who had blue of his dead padawaan w his green able to cycle between two although purple is my favorite lightsaber but my choice would be one that goes from 1-1.5-2m and from red to purple surprising opponents
Proof of the long-lasting staying power of the OT, PT, and EU: People still like to discuss and dissect them even after decades they came out. Meanwhile, new Di$ney Star Wars films have been all but forgotten. Even the so-called fans who liked them have run out of things to say about them.
I have plenty of things I can discuss and theorize in the new canon. Being an electrician just doesn't leave me time to make youtube videos about it lol. I think the old EU and new canon are both great in their own ways.
I think its better than The Last Jedi, but thats like being the nicest guy in prison...urrrgh, that movie was...not good in my opinion, lol. I really didnt mind the other two though, honestly - utter Disney nonsense, but it didnt make me angry.
you guys should do a discussion video on the first 12 Sith lords the jedi exiles from the 100 year darkness. Sorzus syn, xoxaan, Karness murr, dreypa etc.
The book you reference "lightsabers guide to weapons of the force" said Agen Kolar used a green blade until his padawaan tan yuster was killed in battle of geonosis and in memorial kolar added yusters blue adegan Khyber focusing crystal as a secondary blade in his hilt , meaning he could use his original green or secondary blue blade, one at a time
I love your videos regardless. You guys definitely put a lot of effort into these. I definitely like your theory on the clone palpatine using one of the Jedi masters lightsabers he killed in rots.
I think the reason SWTOR had so many Sith wielding alternative colors is because when the game was first released you needed a negative alignment to wield a red-blade and the character templates they used weren't dark-side enough. (For whatever reason. I think it might've been because they didn't have a feature to turn off dark-side degradation, not sure.) But the side-effect is quite neat.
Good to have you back xD great video as usual As a unashamedly selfadvertising; I was thinking about to start working on Star Wars artwork for obscure characters and the VS series. My starting project would be Asaak Dan, I'd ask in the community if there'd be requests forother awesome chars?

You’re back! I’m so happy!!
Great video, as always. I love how much and easy is to learn legends history from your videos
Yes, i would like to see a video about jedi wielding red lightsabers.
Love the video. And may the Force be with you.
30:36 I LOVE THE WAY YOU TWO ARE HAVING THIS FIRESIDE CHAT AS IF THESE THINGS WERE REALLY ACTUALLY HAPPENING. I WISH IT WERE SO. VERY INFORMATIVE GREAT CHANNEL.
Here's hoping the guys finish reviewing the Dark Lord Trilogy with Rise of Darth Vader, but I watch what I can get
I love this topic choice and the coverage of it, thanks!
Excellent video! Love it when you guys collab and discuss the lore of SW!
In KOTOR when Revan gets his Crystal for the test if you ask about the colors the master does say that Purple if those that walk the line of the force of using both sides
I don't remember dorak ever stating this, pretty sure he focuses solely on blue, green and yellow and says something about other colours being out there in the galaxy but never specifying anything about them
I like how you guys talk about the Sith using synthetic crystals instead of bleeding the crystals like they do now
Good catch pointing out Lomi Plo, pity there's no depictions of her, either official or fanart
Listening to this while playing SWTOR gives you the right vibe :D
*I have been looking forward to this*
I'm just here to say Congratulations on making it to 100k subs Evan. May the force be with you and your family in these times your in and hope you continue to crush it at life.
Please do a video of Jedi wielding red lightsabers

There is only one in legends
@@Zaron_Gaming There's more than one. Leia, Luke, and Adi Gallia all used red lightsabers for a time.
Adi Gallia
Sharad Hett

Leia Organa Solo

"What makes you think I'm human?"
If it's any consolation, I stopped making that mistake when I found your channel again.
har har
I remember being in elementary school and knowing that red lightsabers could shatter the sabers of other colors but no one believed me. How the heck did I even know that at that age 😂😂
To be honest, if I was a Sith, I'd use a purple blade. As a Jedi I'd probably have a yellow one.
what do you mean by "lightsaber stability"? do red lightsabers tend to stop working or even explode?
and why would red blades handle worse? aren't they all weightless energy blades?
and are red blades stronger than other blades in more ways than just being able to break them? and if so, how?
Synthetic red crystals have are more unstable that give a chance of breaking an opponent’s lightsaber at the cost of handling
The Return of the King
This is where the fun begins
Who's the Sith Warrior @8:37 ? I can't make out the name. Never mind I found him (Warb Null) when I searched for the short story mentioned.
I'm pretty sure Revan first used purple in the Mandalorian Wars when he found his signature mask, but switched to blue by the end of the war.
Congrats on the 100,000 subs.
Okay, I’m just gonna throw this out to either of you. Kanan Jarrus vs Cal Kestis.
I think that's more up Antoine Bandele's alley; EvaNova95 and Jensaarai don't really do Canon matchups.
Rico Chico Malico did that fight if you want to watch his take.
I'd love to use those characters in a matchup.
I NEED to know what style Sharad hett used, if his son used Niman, did the father do the same?
I think that one's saber color belies their inherit strengths and weaknesses of character in more of a spectrum
From Sith - Jedi
Red - Bronze - Purple - Yellow - Blue - Green
Not saying a green Jedi, or red sith wouldn't fall or a red Jedi or green sith is completely nonsensical. It all makes sense when taking everything into consideration, and if it doesn't make sense; perhaps we don't have the full story
Also, if one is a revered duelist then some fluidity is expected in their choices
You guys forgot about Darth Revan he used a blue lightsaber as sith or a purple one depending on the media
also kyp durron who wielded a purple lightsaber
Revan did maybe when he first became sith but later adopted red and used that mostly thru his sith career.
@@TY-km8hj Most of the time they depict him dual wielding one red and the other is either purple or blue depending on the media
"Full tilt Dva!" I loved this remark about Exar Kunt...ooops Kun. eep The term full tilt reminds me of a pin ball catastrophe.
Don't know if you have considered using Laranth Tarak in one of your versus episodes. She's a Grey Jedi that dual wields blaster pistols so could be interesting to see what you come up with.
the perfect thing for me to enjoy my morning coffee with!
What about Darth Simi? There’s not much information about her but she wielded 2 double bladed yellow lightsabers with short hilts
So I've been rewatching and you've missed Satal Keto with vibrosword if we count him, King Ommin had a pair of swords, Cognus with her blades at the time of her inclusion to the order, Maul with Darksaber, Carnor Jax, Jacen with his vibroknife
Carnor Jax was never a sith lord, he just aspired do become one. And if we counted him as such anyway, he would be the weakest sith ever.
@@emzonik8851 he was trained by lumiya as her apprentice
@@TrajGreekFire And the inquisitors were trained by vader, some hands and dark side elite by palpatine, dark acolytes by dooku etc...and also starkiller (although this one is not that clear). They were all trained by sith, was any of them a sith? Nope. Jax wasn't even a dark jedi, he was just trained in some basics of the force.
Because over thousands of years, there's sure to be some Sith that aren't fond of the color red.
Dang man, I never thought about the light sabers colors like that, I think that’s great purple is like the blue saber for the sith. That’s brilliant man lol. And after the sith rule of two started, it stayed red. And the purple was a saber that Jedi could use if they was close enough to the dark side they can get it lol, but it’s still a dark side color like red.
did you take you can make Qui-Gon Jinn vs plo koon and maybe then Qui Gon vs Kit Fisto versus ki-adi-mundi to see if he was powerful against those three and maybe then Qui Gon Jinn vs his master Dooku to see if he's worthy to face him and beat him
Didn't Revan use a red & purple saber?
I would love a sequel! These discussion type videos are very fun.
Quick question: Has anything in EU/Legends ever referred to lightsaber crystals as “kyber” crystals?
Yes, please make a follow-up vid on Jedi that used red lightsabers.
Finally someone else who made a video with me!!! Alas I will get known, alas I will have revenge!!!
Finally a new video
YES. JUST YES. I hope you are well dude and are doing well. Gonna now watch through your video.
10:30
Incorrect, as Darth Gravid used red/green(iirc).
Good topic, great video. Keep it up👍
I would love to see a sequel! Jedi with crimson blades would be a very interesting topic
this was an awesome video guys i’ve always liked Sith Lords that wield other colored blades i think it looks cool one of my favorite things about Swtor in fact. would love to see the jedi version of this
31:41 What's that image from?
And that's just beautiful
I have plenty of things I can discuss and theorize in the new canon. Being an electrician just doesn't leave me time to make youtube videos about it lol. I think the old EU and new canon are both great in their own ways.
@@korbinhranac5550 Agreed.
New Cannon has more terrible videos essays on it than the EU.
Adegian(sp?) crystal is a kyber crystal that has been blead?
Interesting. So, what do you guys make of The Mandalorian? I honestly dont know what to make of it.
I can't speak for my friends but I personally thinks its....ok.
I think its better than The Last Jedi, but thats like being the nicest guy in prison...urrrgh, that movie was...not good in my opinion, lol. I really didnt mind the other two though, honestly - utter Disney nonsense, but it didnt make me angry.
High Republic opinions?
@@writerman2915 Worrying. I havent read any of it, but what Ive read about it sounds like a Disney filled nightmare, lol...
you guys should do a discussion video on the first 12 Sith lords the jedi exiles from the 100 year darkness. Sorzus syn, xoxaan, Karness murr, dreypa etc.
That they should!
The book you reference "lightsabers guide to weapons of the force" said Agen Kolar used a green blade until his padawaan tan yuster was killed in battle of geonosis and in memorial kolar added yusters blue adegan Khyber focusing crystal as a secondary blade in his hilt , meaning he could use his original green or secondary blue blade, one at a time
My sith brothers and sisters, they only forgot to fuse there dark power into there crystals that’s all.
I think it might've been because they didn't have a feature to turn off dark-side degradation, not sure.)
But the side-effect is quite neat.
I love this format
Good to have you back xD great video as usual
As a unashamedly selfadvertising; I was thinking about to start working on Star Wars artwork for obscure characters and the VS series. My starting project would be Asaak Dan, I'd ask in the community if there'd be requests forother awesome chars?

Another constructed light saber video, your training is complete
Could you please send me a link to Jensaarai1's channel? I'm interested to see his ranking videos as much as yours.
You can’t just search his name here on RUclips yourself?
@@CompositeCreativity I can find videos that come up with his name, not his channel.
Mike Or Oh, right. When I replied earlier, I forgot that he had to get his channel taken down. Ages ago, it got hacked by some asshole who was using it to post pirated anime episodes. At the time, he was working to resolve the issue with RUclips, and this video is the first time I’ve heard from him since then.

Hey Evan, your content is what keeps me from being entirely apathetic towards what used to be my favorite franchise (god damn Disney). Thanks man. Also, vid suggestion: Obi wan vs Kyle katarn. Prob Kyle wins but I wanna hear your take on it. Cheers
Thank you, that’s really appreciated. I understand it’s difficult not to get bogged down with all the BS Disney puts out but you know, you just gotta power through it. As for Obi-Wan VS Kyle I’m planing to tackle that matchup next season.
9:41 WOW i never thought about it like that! I always wondered why he never turned on both the red and green side at once but that would have been really unwieldy when you take into account the nature of the crystals.
31:50 ooooh it would be so cool if their original lightsabers maybe came from krayt dragon stomach crystals!!
Also palpatine had light in him to begin with? Unlikely.
This site is so cool! Thanks Evan!
This video is great want many more between you both
