    I heard you says under your breath, something to the effect that you were worried about shock travel. Well, I've installed thousands of shocks in my lifetime as a professional auto tech. You were right. You saw the problem ..and when You lowered the RV, I noticed the shocks bottomed out and didn't move either way over the block. Shock mounts have to be VERY robust !! because of the CONSTANT up and down "push-pull" on the steel. Sometimes the internet sucks for parts. The old way of walking into a parts store and looking through their OLD books, for part numbers is sadly over. So much information has been lost..and Then it doesn't get written into the software...search engine and no one knows why the part doesn't fit. Wasn't your fault man. It almost came to a fist fight arguing with a guy in a parts store one day for me ! He told me, "That year doesn't have the part you say came off it"...Me...."fuming " !! "Well I didn't find it on the side of the road " !!Jesus !! lol...Peace !

    I installed a set of KYB Gas Adjust shocks a couple of years ago, both mounts snapped off and I had to reweld them back on (better fillet welds this time! No tack welds which seemed to be the issue.) rechecked part #'s for it for the replacements. Don't recall ever hitting anything bad enough to cause the issue. Going on 3 plus years for you!

    Good job, except for the mount problem on the front shocks. I would have probably ground down the bushing to make it fit the original mount. Probably not a good fix either though. Good to know it's a pretty straightforward installation, without having to compress any springs. BTW, watching this video reminded me I have the same pneumatic bottle jack, that I have yet to use. Since I pick up my new (used) RV in a few days, it will come in handy when I do the shocks. I'll also be doing a sway bar upgrade, as well as adding the Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. That jack will finally get some good use.

    Hello. Good job on the shocks. I ordered mine online because Auto Zone changed their computer system and couldn't seem to find anything for a P 30 chassis!! Neither breaks or shocks. Well you be safe and bye for now.

    Compared the (OE) AC DELCO 530203 listed on Rockauto with the KYB KG6412... The Delco shows full open length 16.01in whereas the KYB 15.98in (extended length). Travel length for the Delco is 5.53in whereas the KYB is 5.51in. Dimension wise they seem nearly the same. My RV is a P-30 chassis 1995 independent front suspension. I noticed you bolted them (fronts) in incorrectly. They should be between the control arm and bracket (lower control arm). Some large zip ties can be used to compress the shocks down nearly all the way then fit bottom side first. Once fit cut zip tie and fit top as it climbs upward.

    1. Can you please post the KYB part#s? for Rear and Front? KYBs are great replacement with lifetime warranty but KYB cannot cross match the GM OEM #s.
    2. Why the gas-a-just and not the monomax? Will monomax fit P30 chassis?

      Hi I have a 1994 Chevy P30 Winnebago Vectra 34RA. Not sure who you spoke to. I did in fact bought and installed KYB Monomax Shocks on the front and the rear of the coach. KYB Monomax shocks are superior to what was oem

      @IfYouDisagreeYouAreWrong
      Here you go so not sure who you were speaking to but they don't know KYB Monomax nor P30 Workhorse. I looked up my order for 94 P30 Workhorse Chassis on Winnie Vectra, had 24K miles when I bought and started resurrecting this past year. Been sitting in storage about 15 years, soo while not high miles everything is OEM from Winnebago or GM.
      KYB 565032 MonoMax Gas Shock,Red Fits Chevy P30 Front.
      KYB 565038 MonoMax Gas Shock ,Red Fits Chevy P30 Rear
      These are much stiffer/better than most gas shocks on market, lifetime warranty from KYB. HD for trucks and SUVs. I have run them many years on my Tahoe, Silverado, etc.

      KYB 565032 MonoMax Gas Shock,Red Fits Chevy P30 Front.
      KYB 565038 MonoMax Gas Shock ,Red Fits Chevy P30 Rear
      These fit perfect and handle great on a Class A. Note: My Vectra has the OEM Jet Co's Air rear suspension which still hold air, no leaks. and OEM installed Air-Lift bags in the front coil springs which were crumbs after so long. So I replaced front air bags with same part# as OEM installed.
      I recommend replacing OEM tires with 245/70/19.5 tires as they do not mess with speedometer much and are a much higher load capacity than OEM tires. I also replaced OEM Hellwig front and rear bushings on sway bars as they were crumbling, I was chasing part # from Winnie and bought moog bushings for front, then after contacting Hellwig they sent me all new bushings for free. Talk to the tech guy in the warehouse says they stand behind Hellwig parts.

      @@montyhenson2664 The P-30 chassis is not a Workhorse. Workhorse is who picked up the chassis when GM let go of the chassis in ~1999.

    where did you learn all these skills we see in your video. How come you have so much pneumatic tools and compressor and jack inside your class A. Do you work in this field.

      Started tinkering at a young age. Dad, books and jobs taught me a lot. Lots of construction jobs, 4 years as an apartment maintenance tech. Plumber. The tools just accumulate over the years

      your way of living is the way of the future. lots of area with natural disaster so you can go anywhere and find work all over the place and live with minimum expense anywhere. No problem to park for free in disaster area and nobody to tell you about the noise of your generator. In Quebec we had 4000 house flooded and the government give more than 150 000$ per house so this is a lot of work in construction.

    I've got to 2004 Class A Four Winds Hurricane 30Q MH wit a Ford v10 6.8 LT. How difficult it is to remove the old rusted out shock? I sprayed penetrating oil on bolts and used a breaker bar. But the are frozen...should Try a PROPANE torch to heat bolts and nuts too? Socket s size fort bolt/ nut is 1 -1/8 "....I'm thinking if getting an air 1/2 impact wrench and if so which would you recommend and what size compressor to use? I have c complete sets of impact deep socket sets already. THANKS

      I'm loomking to replaced with the Blistein shocks

    • @ClassALiving
      @ClassALiving  6 лет назад

      At that point i would try an impact, or a torch if you don't have an impact.
      I find that penetrating oil and an impact will unstick just about anything.
      It depends on what you are planning for your impact gun. If you are just using it to unstick a couple bolts you can go cheap and get something from H.F. and just get a couple gallon compressor, though a small compressor will not run an impact for very long but long enough to get a bolt out
