Greatest art my ears have ever heard. Just told my wife , "I wish we were driving through Miami in a 1985 Lambo Jalpa blaring this". I NEED to experience that.
It's more a matter of personal preference but that's also why I appreciate artist who provide both flavors because it's good way to please both who don't care for it and those who do like. I like instrumentals because it allows my mind to be more creative with it and form my own mental picture but I also do appreciate a singer with a good voice. Again it's personal preference but to each their own and that's okay.
I normally do not prefer lyrics in general, especially for synthwave, but "The Midnight" grew on me quick. Enough that I purchased the album, which is also rare for me to do. I do enjoy the instrumental, though I still hear most of the lyrics in my mind. Glad both are available.
Using Van halen's "Aint Talkin bout love" guitar tone (with tonebridge gutar effects) I use this as backing track and jam. The tone matches the music perfectly
'membering 80's coming-of-age films and edgy cop shows. Miami Vice, Risky Business, Sixteen Candles, Career Opportunities, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Weird Science, Lost Boys, Less than Zero, etc. etc. etc. This could have come from any of those soundtracks - but it's all original.
Was really disappointed when I clicked on one of their other vids and someone opened their mouth, -switched off and moved on straight away. - Definitely needs to stay instrumental!
Despues de Pink Floyd , lo mejor que escuche hasta ahora , tocando guitarra y bateria sobre esto, resume el fin de mi busqueda musical....o no,,,,,,pero por aca va el camino ....
I can say I do enjoy going back and forth between vocalized and non-vocalized. Just wish the songwriter had more of a Baritone/Tenor II voice range so I could actually sing along without blah-ing all up.
Thank you for this. Lyrics are so distracting when you're just trying to have some music in the back while doing something else. And this one also includes the other tracks as well.
I have nothing against vocals in general, but I heard this album as an instrumental version first, and it's so rich that I don't miss any vocals at all. (I've listened to the 'normal' version with vocals -- great singer, but I still prefer the instrumental version.)
I'm 49.just discovered this sound. Takes me back to to my 80s childhood playing music on the synthesizer in my bedroom. Sounds great. Thanks
10 key Casio from the local department store.
The guitar solo in collateral. Those mixups. That crystalline outro. Smooth af.
do you think thats a guitar or on the keys?
It's amazing to learn too

The vocals just get in the way. Instrumentals like these need to be fully taken in, disected even. To be fully appreciated.
yea im not into vocals
Instrumental is best, for sure!
Even with vocals these fellas are studio wizards, Harry fkn Potter has nothing on The Midnight.
you people are the best.

the instrumental album hits the spot thanks
Man, instrumentals are some of the best music.. ^v^
A cinematic audio masterpiece.
I like this 80's mood.

Those people who are commenting, "I like it way better than the vocals", please remember, you like it because you remember the vocals.
What vocals? Lol

What vocals, this songs have lyrics?
Not true at all
I listen to this instrumental for 6 months before the original popped up. Cannot stand the lyrics or the singer. Music is top notch though
most replayed part of the album is nocturnal. That should tell you something.
Collateral is my favorite.😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This voice is too important
I’m back
The words they sing are garbage. The music they play is gold.
