Aram Il'yich Khachaturian (6 de junho de 1903 - 1 de maio de 1978) era um armênio soviético compositor e maestro. Ele é considerado um dos principais compositores soviéticos. Ele compôs uma virtuosíssimo Concerto para Violino e Jean Pierre Rampal o transcreveu para Flauta, se tornando repertório padrão da flauta.

For those who don't know, Rampal asked Khachaturian to write a flute concerto but he kindly declined and instead gave Rampal his blessings to transcribe his violin concerto. And it works really well.

BRILLIANT!! Saw Rampal perform in the 80's and got to meet him. What a big man with huge hands. I was so amazed that he could play so masterfully and with such agility. What an honor. I'll never forget it.❤

Il y a eu le dieu PAN...dans ces années 60 ...70.. 80...il y avait ..JEAN- PIERRE RAMPAL....ce magnifique document...nous le prouve...il est au sommet de son art....il avait...55 ans..!!..

Perché lo fa così veloce??
All'inizio, quando entra il flauto sembra un po' fuori controllo. Nella parte cantabile a minuto 2:22 però, diamine che bellezza di suono. Rampal, comunque, qui non è precisissimo, in un'esecuzione dello stesso concerto con orchestra diretta da Stokowski lo è di più. Musicalmente, comunque, fa delle cose straordinarie, da vero fuoriclasse.
