  • Utah police discovered a vault in the basement of Jodi Hildebrandt’s home after Ruby Franke’s 12-year-old son escaped captivity in August 2023. It is believed that Franke’s son and her young daughter were being held in this safe room when they were tied up. Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie breaks down what was inside Hildebrandt’s vault with former CIA and FBI agent Tracy Walder.

The gentleman who called the police, and the lady who comforted RF with food, water, and compassion, made me cry with their innate sense of protection over this child.
Same for the first-responders who cared for EF. They showed such patience and understanding at how completely frozen with fear and distrust that little girl was feeling.
The Franke children have a long road of healing ahead. Hopefully, they won’t be further mistreated by the people entrusted to care for them after they were removed from their parents, the way the Turpin children were after they were “rescued”.

Jodi’s evil. To me, there should never be a question of parole. The evidence shows that Jodi and Ruby both pre-meditatively tortured those kids by severe beatings, malnourishment, and dehydration, as well as subjecting them to gaslighting and psychological trauma. Those kids are lucky to be alive. If this foul treatment had continued, at least one of them, perhaps all of those kids, would certainly have died. From reports I’ve heard, some coming from her own relatives, Jodi has been playing these physically and psychologically abusive “games” for decades. Jodi should never see the light of day again, and neither Ruby nor Kevin should be allowed custody of those kids. All of the Franke children deserve a new, safe home after what they’ve been through.

If you listen to the part where the Police Officer ask's her for the code to get into that safe room, Jodi panic's & tells the officer she doesn't have the code because she hasn't used it in 6 years! She said, she would have to call somebody to get the code to unlock it! So, she lied to the officer because she hid the evidence in there & she thought he'd never be able to go in there! Someone else said she knew she would be in trouble as soon as she realized the boy was gone!
I'm so happy the little boy was brave enough to escape & find help! I don't think he would have survived much longer! Then, I heard that Jodi & Ruby were looking for land in the desert to buy. Were they going to bury the children in the desert? Jodi knew she was slowly killing those children... how Ruby went along with all of it is beyond comprehension! I really hope these women serve the full 60 years for what they have done to those children!

I’m curious what the neighbor meant on the 911 call when he said “we know there’s been problems at this house” (referring to Jodi’s house). Has anyone done record requests to see if there were other people calling in reports about thjngs going on there?

I’ll never forget the phone call that older gentleman made to 911 on that poor boy. The tears he held back: I broke. When the EMS worker began to cry: I broke. I believe the entire world broke as well. However, it was the bruised and battered boy who hadn’t broke. He saved the day & started the healing process for his family, for the countless other victims, for the world and I pray, for himself. I’ll always believe him to be a hero.

This would also make sense as a “panic room” or whatever they call it where tou could hide in case of home invasion till police arrives but again door is opened from outside so clearly not… only reason someone would make a living space that cant be opened from inside but only from the outside is to trap someone in for long periods of time

  • @RedDevilMoto

The room was originally a vault with a Safe door. Naturally it would be refered to as a "safe room' in the house, (A place to lock up valuables) but not to be confused with a "Safe-room' as one might think of in a case of emergency. Sadly, rather than being used for its natural purpose as a vault with a Safe door, it was re-fitted as a jail-type room, meant for long-term occupancy. Instead of locking up valuables..it was used to lock up children. Children ARE more valuable than anything else, but that was NOT the 'valuables' that room was originally intended for. It's poetic justice that Jody and Franke are now locked in such a room! For many..many more years hopefully!

11:08 I'm thinking she didn't get rid of evidence in the vault/cell before the cops arrived for one simple reason: she thought she'd have time to get rid of it later.
I mean, look at how she reacts to the cops yanking her outside and beginning the search of her property. "Woah woah woah!" "Do you have a warrant?" She thought both she and the vault/cell were untouchable without a warrant or some other court process first. She thought she'd have time to dispose of the problem items later. She thought she'd be able to, for lack of a better term, 'order' the cops away until they got approval from a higher authority than her. And if they couldn't get into her house, then the evidence would be hers to tamper with, destroy, or dispose of as she saw fit. The raid and the arrest caught her completely off-guard.
