  • Inside India's Biggest Slum in Mumbai, India. Today we visit Dharavi, the biggest slum in Mumbai, India. We came to this part of the city because we heard from many people that it was not the safest place nor a place for tourists, but of course like all things, we had to come and see it for ourselves. While in Dharavi we met some incredible Indian people and also tried some Indian street food. In my opinion it was one of the coolest areas of the city and definitely a huge culture shock!

      Dharavi is a 150 year of close knit socio economic self organized miracle of 700k people living in 3sqkm area generating around 1$ billion economic output. Sadly a redevelopment plan has been approved for dharavi to be completed in 7 year time frame.

    In any foreign movie if they want to show India they go to slums like whole India is only slums and somehow always forgets to show thousands of great places, monuments, architectures ,etc etc and it actually effects the tourism of india-: it's chance to improve its economy and improve the life of people ( because not everyone are fond to visit poor places)and these slum monger youtubers help to Promote their agenda, great guys good job

      Thank you so much! That is exactly why I came! Many people talk bad about Dharavi, but it still is a place where many amazing Indian people live and maybe with the increase in tourism the area can turn into a whole new reality!

    most of the people who live in the slums of the big cities in India are the migrants from small villages. they all have their houses In the villages. they live in the slums because of the low rent. if they start earning more in the cities then they move to bigger homes.

      @Ramesh shinde It will take time. It's not a problem created suddenly after Modi govt came to power. It will need setting up businesses in backward states. Industries will not go there if there is no infrastructure to transport their goods, unavailability of skilled manpower etc. Now there is high focus on infrastructure development in these areas. After that we can think of creating employment there. It's a long process

    • @sanketj8724
      @sanketj8724 2 года назад +3

      @Ramesh shinde nope. Its a perpetual process. Garibi Hatao is a 1971 slogan.

    • @sanketj8724
      @sanketj8724 2 года назад +2

      @Ramesh shinde thanks for proving my point. Yes. This is 2022. Even after 50 years we are still in the process of eradicating poverty. That's what I am saying. This process will continue. It's not a 1 time thing. Development will go on forever. Even in developed 1st world countries, there are slums.

    • @sanketj8724
      @sanketj8724 2 года назад +3

      @Ramesh shinde I will surely defend the Modi goverment. It's way better than previous congress govts.
      Infrastructure development is going on at record pace. Even after war and global economic crisis, inflation is way lower than continuous double digit record inflation during MMS tenure. In 2013 there was no war or economic crisis. Still inflation was highest. In terms of GDP we just went ahead of Britain. Terror activities are almost zero in mainland area. Only some border areas are of some concern in this respect. Earlier there were regular blasts happening in all major cities. All the neighbouring economies including much hyped Bdesh are in real bad shape. Still India is going strong. Forex reserves were 300bn USD in 2013. They are around 530bn now. External debt is well under control. Number of AIIMS increased from 7 to 16 in 8 years. We are adding average 1 IIT every year after 2014. There were only 14 earlier.

    There are some bashing Chris here for showing Mumbai slum.
    Come on I am from Thailand! There are a lot of BANGKOK SLUMS vlogs but we Thais don’t mind at all. Those slum vlogs are full of smiles, laughters, love, friendships and eye opening to many foreigners. Some vlogs are even full of tears of joy.

      that is not authenticity of India. only 5% of total Indian population live in the slums according to the the last census. since then central government has built more than 30 million houses for the poor. tens of millions more are either in construction or will be made.

      @@jomontanee great, it's not about being ashamed I am actually very proud of my civilisation but the world represents india with slums , in any foreign movie if they want to shoot in India they will go to slums and will apply yellow filter to it and I can't stand people who don't know anything about India and it's rich history represent it like this. Same applies to you as according to you also authenticity of India is slums . And this is the mindset everyone in India hate. The main problem is this is not the authenticity of India.
