+steve sanders From what I've read, dried fruit vacuum packed should last about 5 years stored at 70 degrees, maybe longer if the temp is cooler. Dried vegetables, 8-10 years at 70 degrees or longer at cooler temps. Please subscribe :-)
+abdulah arby Hi Abdulah, the time depends on the product you're drying. My apple slices took 3.5 hours, the mango leather was done in 6 hours. The manual gives you times for drying different fruits and vegetables. Hope that helps :)
Thanks for the review! I've been curious about dehydrators and it's nice to see any potential downsides. I'd be curious to see how it is in making jerky. So there's no timer? Also, you might want to lower the input gain on your microphone in future videos. It's a bit hot which leads to clipping. Try keeping things in the yellow / orange. :P
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed the review! Thanks for the microphone tip :-) There is no timer on the dehydrator. Drying time varies depending on the fruit, vegetable or meat and also thickness of the slices. After using the dehydrator once, you'll have a better idea of when different foods will be done drying.
How to make chips with a dehydrator? how to make for example, zuccini chips? not only dehydrat them but make them crunchie? it has to be use the oven after dehydrator? Thanks.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Enzo Davion thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
QUESTION....after you put the dried fruit in the ziplock bags, how long did you wait before vacuum sealing in the mason jars???? I am Using my Nesco snackmaster this morning for the first time. I have apples, bananas and strawberries dehydrating right now.
Thank you for the review and demo of results after dehydrating. I have a plain version with no temp control and thinking of adding this Snackmaster to my kitchen. Same trays. I'm new to dehydrating. Your video shows me that I can safely not over-dry my stuff and it's still "ready". Thanks! Yummy! oyrm
Video did not seem as focused on the product in question as one may assume in a product review; more of a tutorial on how to dehydrate produce. As such, very informative. Thank you. ;)
Hi, thank you for the review. Do you still have this dehydrator? Looks like you made this video in quite a few years ago so. Some of the reviews gave it a bad rating for the motor giving out after a month or so. I bought the cheaper one and it works fine but it very noisy and seems to need a lot longer time to dry out the food. I'm thinking of getting one that is quieter. Thank you for your help. Very good video.
I see the fan is on top, where is the heating unit? also on top? is the bottom easy to clean as well? & if I want my fruit to not be tart how d I do that? also I don't want my fruit to look brown. bananas I like crispy, kiwis thick & chewy & not brown how do I do that?
This is very helpful. My son is going through his 18month picky phase. Even his favorite foods he doesn’t want to eat. I’m sure he’ll have a lot of fun eating his food like this.
I have been using it for years now but lately it started producing cold air not hot so it doesn’t dry thing. Any idea about the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks all
Natures candy mine goes very fast can't stop eating I portion into ziplock bags and enjoy daily on my walks just love bananas, pineapple, persimmons, all juicy sweet fruits sliced or puréed. Even watermelon I dry into chewy or crisp pieces. I buy all the over ripe fruit it's ideal for myself.
thx for video. .just getting ready to plug I and do some strawberries.. 5 trays worth.. never done strawberries though. (I've used other dehydrators..not this kind).. will vaccum seal after
Way more common in the 18th century. Drying a concentrated soup or stock and then using them while travelling. You drop a *slice* of soup into hot water and bam, instant soup.
Is there any nutritional value to drying fruit or is it just for preservation? I am getting one of these by tomorrow to dry out my habanero peppers (hundreds of them grew this year) and make powder out of them. I am looking for different ways of using this machine.
Great video! Great instructions/tips! Thank you! My question is how long will these fruits last? You don't need to put them in airtight containers? Thanks!!
+betteboop57 Hi, glad you enjoyed the review. You can put the fruits in mason jars like I did or vacuum seal them for longer storage. After 1.5 years, my fruit is still fine in the mason jars. They should be kept in a cool place. There are a lot of variables that determine the shelf life of dehydrated food - moisture, temperature, method of storage. So, there is no concrete answer to how long your fruit will last. Hope that helps. Please subscribe if you haven't already :)
+Pathan Power Hi, the plastic is BPA free. As far as the impact of plastic on the dehydrated produce, I really can't give you an answer - sorry :( There is plastic in most kitchen appliances we use daily, especially coffee makers where the water gets very hot and comes into direct contact with plastic. I have done some online research and haven't found anything conclusive. If you're concerned with plastic coming into contact with food, it's best to purchase a stainless steel dehydrator here: amzn.to/1OvCi4s Hope that helps. Please subscribe if you haven't already :)
+Colin Cline Of course, you are right - mushrooms are fungi. I guess when talking about something you'll put in your mouth, vegetable sounds more appetizing than fungi....lol

How many hours I put it ?? I did not hear you well

Esse equipamento liga na chave seletora de temperatura ou com o cabo na tomada?
@t.wolfe Hi, yes you can use the dehydrator to make powders :-)

AWESOME! Is this process ideal if I want to make powders?
How to make chips with a dehydrator? how to make for example, zuccini chips? not only dehydrat them but make them crunchie? it has to be use the oven after dehydrator? Thanks.

Nikki lee Hi Nikki, you're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the review :-)
If vacuum packed with an oxygen absorber, how long will these store for?
Almost indefinitely.
OK how do you shut the damn thing off without unplugging it?
Thanks. Im trying Jerky for the 1st time
Great video , I have this dehydrator and never used. Now I will
Wonderful 😁

I have this one but it’s so loud. I’m drying blackberry purée into (what will be) blackberry roll ups. I can’t wait til
I can finally turn it off. 🙄
My concern is the amount of time it takes to dehydrate the fruit
great video, thanks!
👍😀
Those apples don't look really crispy dry.
Great review, thank you for demonstrating how it works in addition to talking about it.
👍
did she say how noisy it is? would be great if she turned it on so we can hear.
angi winter Its quiet.

Great video! My Nesco Snackmaster will be here tomorrow and I can't wait to start dehydrating 💕
How do you like your new Nesco, Dawn? I'm thinking of getting this one.
This is very helpful. My son is going through his 18month picky phase. Even his favorite foods he doesn’t want to eat. I’m sure he’ll have a lot of fun eating his food like this.
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
Can I buy the top part alone?since I have the trays and other part?
I have been using it for years now but lately it started producing cold air not hot so it doesn’t dry thing. Any idea about the problem and how can I fix it?
Thanks all
Can it be used to dry onions and how long i can store it.
Hi, it can be used to dry onions and should take about 12 hours. It can be stored for at least one year or longer 😀
Informative and great demonstration. You just convinced me into getting this brand.
Wonderful 👍😀
Thought it should be crispy not really chewy like ya pineapple and apples. As they don't seem fully dehydrated
You can always let it go longer.
Nice review, thanks...
+doo dude You’re welcome 😀
Price plzzz

Hi, you're welcome! Let us know how the strawberries come out :)
Did all of the fruit you dehydrated take the full 12 hours?
did she say "drying soups"????
matt deg I caught that too! Was really curious about that!
Way more common in the 18th century. Drying a concentrated soup or stock and then using them while travelling. You drop a *slice* of soup into hot water and bam, instant soup.
very useful, thanks
+Sumaia Mano You're welcome :)
95 % of this is cutting up which you did NOT show how to do
Use a sharp knife and slice about 1/4 " thick.
Or food processor, or a mandolin.
Excuse me, how many hours the rice needs in the machine
it would take me about a week before i feel fed up with eating this stuff
lol
