My jaw dropped at the beginning of the video and it's still there! First of all congrats on releasing your collection! Secondly Will explaining his animation process- just blew my mind! What a genius! Congrats on collab and good luck with a drop!
Well, I will... but it looks scary - a lot of learning and hard work on a single image... This guy is sick in the very best way :D Really grateful for such a video.
I would do that in blender, there its a bit easier, you have to model the rooms and projecting the image to the 3d object then. But you would still need a photo editing programm :D
Well I do this everyday as my job and believe me it goes a lot complicated and crazier then this while doing it professionally. Those who are thinking this is hard, it actually not, compair to how detailed this process gets when we get specific instructions from clients. Ask any motion designer and they will tell ya. Anyway kudos to these guys for making it look so easy. Good one.
Lots of good info here! A small side note for viewers: you can also import PSD files as layers into After Effects, instead of having to save each PNG from Photoshop.
@@TheFunnyCamGuy just drag and drop, remember to check that the file is set to keep layer and layer size in the window that will pop up when you place it into your after effects file.
Great Video! But instead of exporting all the layers as PNGs, you could really just import the PSD into After Effects, would have made it look easier to a beginner.
Really impressed you did it with after effects which is not really convenient for this type of tasks, it's way easier to do it in a 3D software with camera projection, though, or in a decent compositing program, like Nuke.
OMG!! Will and Mango Street thanks guys! I ATTEMPTED something similar to this a while back, definitely not at this level, but I couldn't make it look realistic and eventually abandoned it. The tip Will gave about cutting the objects out as if it's 3D space was huge, I would have cut the pillar out as one thing. I'm keen to have another try now!
Not a new concept . It's called parallax effect. Existed ages ago. We also see this in manys video vfx compositions, music videos such as asap ferg floor seats at the end .
It's easier with blender because it's really 3d software. Just project the photo to 3d mesh, not require external software. Nah i'm not being offensive, i just give suggestion
nice! but the camera movement thorough 3d space didn't have to be so big. I would like it even more if it was a subtle animation/camera movement. the bigger the movement the more it looks like a flat/2D layer, imo
wow, this is really cool. Love the look of everything, now that the latest smartphones have lidar scanning apps do you think you will be implementing that into your workflow as well? Well at least for the images that are in small confined spaces like the diner or maybe even the garage doors with purple man. I can see how lidar scans could help with the 3D aspect. Just thinking outloud. Love your channel, it is very inspirational.
Can someone explain why his Ae looks like it's running on 0.5 fps and lagging? P.S. I'm still a noob and have just started getting into this field so if I've said something wrong forgive me pls.
AE does not always run in real-time. you have to load the preview in RAM first - so oftentimes when working in AE and you don't want to wait for a RAM preview, you will just playback and it will adjust your fps.
You say u worked in after effects for 9 yrs and you didnt know how to create a parallax Effect? This is quite a common process when it comes to video vfx composition.
These guys really annoyed me with all the fuc***g around. This is definitely not new in AE, it has been done for years, they just made it look difficult. It’s not…

Love these animation!
Why did he animate the null object and not the camera itself?

This is some real hard work guys. I wonder if anybody will be doing it.
Well, I will... but it looks scary - a lot of learning and hard work on a single image... This guy is sick in the very best way :D Really grateful for such a video.
sound design is so amazing
Came here thinking "oh cool I'll learn how to animate photos," came out thinking "nope, too much work"
I would do that in blender, there its a bit easier, you have to model the rooms and projecting the image to the 3d object then. But you would still need a photo editing programm :D
the entire time i watched this i was singing the song “it costs so much cuz it takes me f * * g hoours.” amazing work, wonderful collab.
Hahahahahaah me too
I definitely feel it’s kinda hard!!!!😂
Amazing edit and amazing photos.
Congratulations guys!
Yoooooo. That sounded and looked mad hard. He literally RECREATED THE PICTURE. That's some frame thing

This just blew my mind. The results are incredible
This has just gotten so much easier with generative fill..yay
I knew this was hard to do, but seeing Will explain it, is crazy. Such talent!
You guys just ain't missing lately, thanks for this
I haven't watched this till now, what an amazing tutorial I love you guys so much!!

How do you do it!?
@@TheFunnyCamGuy just drag and drop, remember to check that the file is set to keep layer and layer size in the window that will pop up when you place it into your after effects file.
"I hope you think it's kinda hard so I feel like I'm doing something important" 😆
You've succeeded
This is absolutely insane 🤯
Will is so talented

This is… crazy good stuff. Lots of gems in here. 💎

Awesome, if only there was a tutorial showing an equal or similar process to do this effect on Davinci Resolve
The quality is IN-SANE!!!
Truly Amazing!
I saw this and I was wowed from the start.... like where do I start
This entire process will be done in 1 month this is 1 month works

Super inspirational!
This is a great video
I’ll die happy if I can master this 🤔
Love Will! Glad to see y'all collaborate! Literally one of the best AE users I've seen.
Love the Video and concept I'll be doing this
Will better be getting royalties for the NFTs. Thats a shit ton of work
haha of course we paid him! so much work.
Will is hilarious! Subing his channel for sure. 🙌
from India ❤️

This is soooo dope but I dont have enough patience for this bro...smh lol... Good luck to anybody that does! love yall 💯
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! ❤️🙋♂️
Is it possible to add masked video (like a cinemagraph) into the composition for a parallax animation?
I really love your videos it's very calm
Can u teach us how to film like vogue's diary of a model
12:55 can i ask where i can get that wallpaper?
What monitor is Will using please?
Great tut. Your mic is facing backwards btw.
Full Tutorial please
No way you guys were in Point Reyes! I live near by!
one of our favorite places in the US!
@@MangoStreet if you ever come back would love to hang out!
Reminds me of mental canvas app
I feel like this would be way easier to do it blender 3D
"this is a drag and drop" NOO IT'S NOT!! It's the farthest thing from drag and drop

[Holds sign] Will work for Mango Street NFT ... lol great freaking video as always and s/o to Will!
I tried to follow the tutorial but I can't reproduce it with my picture and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
nice
❤️🙏🏻
The struggle I’m having is deciding which NFT I like most
wow so easy
HIS audio doesnt pick sound from the YETI. ITS DRIVING ME NUTS!!! how can you not notice it
Was just a fun prop 🥺
It does look stunning, but it's so much work :'(
Amazing. Truly rather pay someone instead of growing more gray hair from it. 😂😂😂
Can we do this in blender?
you probably could with some camera projection or something!
Short version. Take the picture apart and put it together as animation.
was that ever in question?
Looked so cool. Heard "NFT". Saw hipster shill. Paused. Wrote comment. Left.
good riddance ✌🏻
This is the same as rembrandt would show how he paints. Nice to see but almost imposible to recreate. Awesome artwork.
if you think i’m gonna believe this is a photo.
The first one is kinda scary lolll

no. he said he’s worked in ae for nine years, but still picked up some new tips from will’s video.
fuck it imma try it
what if you... just... took a video lmao and put those foreground elements in premiere or after effects
i suppose that wouldn't be animating photos then?
@@MangoStreet you should suppose that that would look better than animating photos.
@@grey.fox. that's not really the point, though.
♥️♥️
❤❤❤
70 dollar a month subscription?? Oh man
What is this sorcery?
do people even post on their feed anymore
This is too crazy for me to figure out. So much time just for 1 picture
Great video but not exactly easy to learn from...
I love how you basically posted a video by someone else lol
will is way better at this kinda thing, so we figured he'd be a better teacher too!
