    I have an LG that is a little different. I didn’t have the holes on the bottom of the panel to pry it off. I had to use a small screwdriver to pry it off. I also had to really work to get the ice shoot off. I broke 3 of the 4 tabs. Other than that this video helped a lot. Gave me confidence to do the project. It took about 5 minutes with getting tools and cleaning up. Thank yo!

    Thanks for this video. I was able to get it all apart and then realized that the solenoid had failed rather spectacularly, with the piston driving itself into the plastic at the top of the area. I figured this out because there was no visible area to hook the new door into... I've ordered the replacement solenoid and will replace it, and then the ice chute door. thanks again.

    Thanks so much for your step by step instructions. As the commercial says, "So easy a caveman can do it!" My wife really appreciates your help because she needs her ice dispenser! You saved us a lot of money. God bless you, Man!

    Yep, that was exactly what was wrong with mine, broken plastic standoff. They didn't have the longer screw at my local hardware store so I ordered a $15 box of miscellaneous screws and one size was perfect. Thanks for the video!

    I have a Kenmore with a similar ice maker, but the bezel/controls are flush mounted instead of surface mounted like this video. After removing the drip tray and chute, how do I remove the control panel?

    Also, do you have a video on how to replace the chute on model LFX28968ST /04? The model you are showing is different in the front design. I do not know if it can be removed the same way.

      We don't have a video for that part. It looks like it's actually discontinued, unfortunately.

    Thx for the video.
    Why is the spring not included. Needless to say that parts become rusty in that area.

    I have a LFX28968ST/04 model. My chute is not working. I contacted your site and it is not showing. I asked on chat and they said it is discontinued and cannot be ordered. Is that correct? Do the different models have different chutes? Your site has it showing on the diagram but not showing as orderable. Do I now need to buy a new fridge. If I do this stinks. I only bought it a few years ago.
    BTW. The issue is that it opens but will not close. I emptied all the ice but it happens each time I try to use it. Very little ice ice comes out. Since it does not close ice fills the hole and it gets slid and drips all over.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  6 лет назад

      Unfortunately, that is correct. The chute for your model has been discontinued by the manufacturer. We source our parts from the original manufacturer, so we have no remaining stock. If you try to use a part that isn't compatible with your appliance, it may not work or even fit. searching using the model number and/or the part number, it may be possible to find this part used through a local salvage company or a used appliance parts retailer online. I apologize that we couldn't be more help, but we don't want to advise our customers to buy parts that won't fix their appliances.

    I'm trying to remove the display cover for LG LRSC26940TT. It has a slot only on the right side for a scredriver. It looks like I'm just supposed to insert screwdriver and lift, but it isn't coming free. I'm afraid to do it any harder in case it snaps, there is no replacement available for that part. Any idea how hard I should be lifting? And if something else is involved?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  7 лет назад

      Make sure you've removed the drip tray and have taken the funnel out first. Double check that there aren't multiple screwdriver slots somewhere around the display frame. Also remove the drip tray and see if there are screws underneath it that need to be removed to get it off. Afterwards, you should be able to use the screwdriver to lift up and out, as you said.

  • @MrJayDickerman

    No visible slots for screwdriver to enter. What do I do if it's not obvious where to put screwdriver ? I'm concerned about possibly breaking the display cover. Model #LRSC26980TT.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  7 лет назад

      Use a flashlight to go around the dispenser front to check for screwdriver slots. If you don't see any, try removing the drip tray and see if there are screws underneath it that need to be removed to get it off.

    So, our ice chute door just remains open (it doesn't close any more). We could push it shut with a great deal of effort, I guess, but I'm not sure it would stay. Just wondering if anyone knows if the part we need to replace is actually the chute door or a spring or a motor or something else. Thanks!

      Our refrigerator is LFX28968ST/04. I see people refer to a solenoid a lot in reference to a similar problem to what we're having, but I don't see a solenoid as a replacement part. Is there something else that it would be called for this refrigerator model?

    • @lotsa2000
      @lotsa2000 7 лет назад +1

      So, it turned out, when we took the panel off, that the bottom screw holder that the dispenser lever retainer (part 275F) screwed into was completely broken off and the top one had a big crack in it. The only thing that we can figure is that they did something wrong in manufacturing that finally showed up. There was no reason for it to break off - no rough handling or forcing, and we've never gotten in there before. So, we glued everything back together, rebuilding the screw holder with JB Weld, and it works as good as new!
