This duet Tu es mon autre is legendary, it reached the #2 position in french charts in the early 2000s, and has been listed in the most favorite french duets ever list. It was composed and written in the 90s by Lara and Rick Allison, her producer and boyfriend at that time. Then it became the song of Lara and Maurane and a testimonial of their great friendship, Lara and Maurane are the one that made it famous in France and Maurane was always invited in Lara’s concerts in France to perform it together. Maurane was a spectacular contralto, another belgian singer very famous in France. Lara and Maurane were friends since their youth, Lara met her in Brussels when she was 20 and Maurane was kind of part of her family since then. Sadly, Maurane passed away abruptly in 2018 ( heart attack) and it left Lara devastated. The guitarist is Jean-Felix Lalanne, one of the most famous classical guitarists in the world and, when this performance was recorded, he was the boyfriend of Lara and her musical director. The perf was part of an annual event called “Autour de la guitare” that he created and where he was Master of Ceremony. A sublime duo, Lara and Maurane sang this song several times. Indeed their voices harmonized perfectly. It was heartbreaking for Lara when her friend died far too soon.
