Another chapter of the Nightwish story has ended today. Nightwish and Anette Olzon have decided to part company, in mutual understanding, for the good of all parties involved.
In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover.
Nightwish has no intention of cancelling any upcoming shows, and as a result we have decided to bring in a substitute vocalist starting in Seattle 1.10.2012. Her name is Floor Jansen from The Netherlands (ex-After Forever, ReVamp), and she has graciously stepped in to help us complete the Imaginaerum world tour.
We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone.
We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together.

Floor Jansen is currently singing with Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish as a replacement to Anette Olzon for the remainder of the Imaginaerum World Tour.

Can't say that I'm really a fan of this band, but I've been listening to an After Forever album today, and Floor Jansen is just about the best female vocalist I've ever heard. Such a powerful voice! It would be a really good idea for Nightwish to get her in there as a permanent member.
Finally the old Nightwish is back with a good voice after Tarja! Thank you Floor Jansen! I'm guessing the 8 who dislike are Anette fans.

BTW Did someone throw something onto the stage at about 0:08? It looks like someone flicks something onto the stage, Floor flinches and then looks out into the audience, Then she moves upstage and leans in and it looks like she's shouting "Come on! Come on!" before going back into the tune. Lesson to be learned: Don't mess with the Floor unless you want to kiss the floor.

Yo vi un concierto de After Forever hace un par de años en Vigo, y todos estábamos con la boca abierta viendo a este grupazo y esta chica con esa voz, esa belleza tan sexy, esa fuerza, y es una viga en el escenario. Le deseo lo mejor a ella y a Nightwish con ella. Desde luego, esta es una buena elección, eso sí.

Oh my god. I love the fact that the NW's old songs sound as good as use to sound now when Floor is singing. I can't believe it! Eventhough I miss Anette, I have to say that Floor is Amazing. I could allmost say that the good old NW is BACK! HEEELL YEAH!! Can't wait to see them in Helsinki in November:)!

Yeah, I found out about After Forever around the same time that I found out about Nightwish like 10 years ago. I was around 14 or 15 at the time. It's like two of my 'childhood' favourites merged together!
very sad to see Anette go, at least it wasn't with all the drama that was there when Tarja got kicked out. However I look forward to hearing Floor and hope she will stay on as their lead singer after the tour is over. To me she has the power and range that Tarja had and yet also has the skill and pleasant sound that Anette had. Its like the best of two worlds

I'm inclined to agree with you as well. The Imaginaerum album was primarily a concept in and of itself (which if you have seen the movie as well is fully evident). I personally liked the incarnation of Nightwish with Annette just as I did with Tarja. While I like Floors voice, something about her just sits with me oddly seeing her as a member of Nightwish. I do have to admire her for what she is doing now and the inflection and emotion she sings with. Should be interesting to see what transpires
Floor definitely has Tarja's vocal range, but has her own style. This is certainly the old Nightwish I've been missing. They better keep her x_x
Respuesta para el defensor de Tarja aka Ismael, efectivamente Tarja podrá tener mejor manejo en canto lírico por que ella ha estudiado para eso, la señorita Jansen estudio creo un año y no precisamente canto lirico, pero aun así es infinitamente superior, Tarja es un palo en el escenario ve como se mueve y lo que provoca Jansen, si quiero escuchar opera mejor escucho a Ana Netrebko , pero va esto es metal y donde Jansen es superior por mucho a Tarja

Pena de After Forever, porque tienen temazos, y precisamente son con esta chica como me gustan. Está claro que ella también ha tomado su decisión. Espero que al menos Nightwish se sigan haciendo cada vez mejores, que van por muy buen camino.

You put it to the point :) floor is such a great artist, they can replace their singer for a tour but for permanent? No she don´t need commercial popish NW nowadays :) But her singings on old songs is awesome!

honestly,i like all nightwish singers. the only important thing is that tuomas keeps writing. because tuomas is nightwish.all singers are great.
I am admirative of Floor's voice and especially as she conveys strong emotions through it. Nightwish has stopped being a band I like since "Once" as Marko has managed to make the bass the lead instrument in the band, making it power metal with some symphonis elements, no longer melodic metal. Annette has a voice for pop or rock, not metal.
Tuomas has shown he has no inspiration anymore, as most tracks follow the same structure to the point of boredom. I hope Floor will bring inspiration back.

OMG! I've been insisting for years Floor Jansen should have been the replacement for Tarja, and now it's come to be! Can't wait for the Orlando Florida show!
Mientras que Jansen siempre ha sido cantante de opera dirigida al metal, su rango vocal de hecho es de 4 octavas justo como Tarja pero con la diferencia que no resiste la prolongación en su canto, porqué después lo compensa "gritando" las notas del final, incluso puedes comparar sus potencias de voz en la canción "O mio babbino caro" que es una canción de opera clásica y ahí veras como Tarja se desenvuelve naturalmente y Jansen le cuesta mucho. Cabe resaltar que Jansen es una cantante poderosa.

As of today, the band has not indicated the floor will become the permanent vocalist for Nightwish. Even the NW website lists her as a guest vocalist for this tour. I'm not sure how I feel about Floor becoming a permanent member. I love her voice, but something about her sits with me oddly as a member of Nightwish. Regardless, I think Tuomas and company will make a choice that will make some happy and invoke the ire of others. The choice they make remains to be seen when they make that choice.

Now I don't want her to leave on a question of cash. NW has that once already. If she enjoys the NW songs and atmosphere, I hope she stays for years to come. If not, good tidings aand thanks for the memories. She is easily the 2nd best singer of NW ever, and if she wants she could be 1st.

Oddly enough, I know what you mean. That was as epic as Nightwish has been since the End of an Era concert.
They need to turn up Floor's mic, the instruments drowned out some of her voice, I guess they had to do that back when they had you know who.

I've heard Floor before, but I've never been that impressed with her. I checked this out to see how it was, and my opinion is changed. I won't compare her to Tarja because that's not fair, but this is far closer to the vocal sound of "old" NW. Maybe Tuomas will start composing music slanted more towards the older, more symphonic sound again, as opposed to the more recent music done with Anette's voice in mind. I'm excited to see how this turns out.

i don't think that you can actually hear floor jansens voice in this video at all
More on the point of Nightwish siners; Floor can reach the same vocal range as Tarja, so if she joins, we might have some more classics than with Anette. She can reach the dramatic soprano, a more emotional lyrical range, which might also be fitting.
Floor is perfect singer for Nightwish, she sings great and looks great !
