I saw the Nightwish at Hartwall Areena last saturday.I think Floor is the best singer for the band!!I have seen them with Tarja and Anette many times,but Floor is absolutely something else!
That's because the 'Imaginaerum' songs were made for Annette's voice, imagine what the new album will be, IF Floor stays. Her voice is brutal. Listen to her old band 'After Forever' and be blown away by her strength of voice.
I would pay an obscene amount of money for all of the future Nightwish albums if they included Floor on vocals. Seriously, I'd pay £50/$80 per album, and not think twice about it.
My thoughts exactly. And, yea, that's a good way to put it. Floor is like a bridge. She has classical training and can do that, but she is also one hell of a belting metal rocking kick-ass GODDESS! I find losing Anette like this very sad, though, because I think she just showed her stuff on this album - the first time that an album was written with her vocal style in mind, and Anette really nailed it. She shows the layers and textures and what makes her great. She shines. *Sigh*
Nightwish was perfect before... today, they are most than perfect!. It's like a dream to listening floor and nightwish in the same song at the same time!
Thanx for this great video :) I was there, all the way from Holland to see our "flying dutchman" do what's she's doing best. You made it possible to enjoy it over and over again.
Interesting, watching the first concerts of Floor with Nightwish, where the operatic parts still came from the pre recordings. A few months later, she started REALLY showing her unrivalled talent and versatility and sang those parts herself, too. Nowadays she took over some of Marko's parts too. The woman truly is then Valkyrie Goddess.
Absolutely flawless. I can't lie. I'm so sad. I miss Anette terribly. This was HER chance to finally shine and cut through the bullshit. In part, the greatness of this album is because of Anette's voice, and it is the first album written for HER and with her input on vocal lines. That makes all the difference. I'm not sure why this keeps happening, so I can't accuse, but I'm pissed, and this blows. Horrible thing to do. One time, but twice? Yet I can't say anything but Floor is genius, always.
Nice... can't wait for tomorrow night at Brixton!! Floor's stage presence is papable... hope she does Ghost Love Score, as I know she started to perform that on the last few shows on the American leg of the tour.

I got no problem with different taste and different preference. But I think, it's difficult, judging the qualities of a singer by hearing a fanmade video.

Nightwish should have waited a bit longer before releasing Anette, at least after the tour ends. This Album isn't Floor's. But yeah, I can only wish her for the best. Should stop complaining :)
still hadn't started doing it yet. i wonder when she started singing the middle part. she looks more relaxed after 3 weeks in. slowly remembering who she is. muscle memory kicking in. everyone should take note of these early videos of Floor. commit. work. get better than last time. even the greatest ever feel like a hippo on ice skates sometimes. difference is, they didn't quit when it got hard. speaking from many years of experience as a quitter.

Its funny that everyone loves floor now after hating anette for years... now that i hear this song sung by floor i think anette is great in her own way... but like i have accepted anette i will also accept floor - cus im no child who crys about thinks he cant change.
Sorry but I'm not sorry to say that As I love Floor in the band there won't be perfects "ahh ahh aaahhhh" in the Siren without Tarja and perfect "squealing piiiigs!" without Anette, I love nightwish now, maybe more than ever but I will miss both eras with Tarja and Anette, but let's open our arms to Floor Jansen, one of the best vocalist all the time.
Look up BenevolentDemise and their cover of Storytime. I honestly think Nightwish should get in contact with her. She has a voice that fits the new sound Nightwish got going.
Well... to answer seven years later... 🤣. And definitely not hating on Annette, but there are 3 songs still which are only for her and Floor can’t/won’t sing... “Bye Bye Beautiful” and “Cadence of her last Breath” and “the escapist”... So Annette is my favorite for this two songs! 😂... until one day Floor decides to sing them... To be fair, I had a hard time getting use to Floor in Storytime and Last Ride of the Day. Besides those, I loooooove every thing else she sings and dances to. She

That discussion is about apples and pears, everyone likes something else. But one thing in favour of Floor you won't have the terrible misheard lyrics Tarja had. Her english was thp the worst of the worst. And if you don't know what I mean feel free to look up the misheard lyrics of Wishmaster - be aware you won't be able to listen the original version...
Floor is definitely a much better singer than Anette. Still it is very hard to imitate the pseudo-childish voice Anette has and which she sang these songs with. But without any doubt Floor is really the best frontwoman they had to date.
i can't agree with your statement. floor's technique is definitely not better than Tarja's still i will say floor is more versatile when it comes to rock but her classical singing is not good.her rendition of o mio babbino caro was just painful to hear
The genre is SYMPHONIC METAL. You don't drop a pop singer in the middle of it. Nearly all the vocalists in these bands have years of training their voice, Annette is a fluke. She could do just fine in many places, just not here.
I wouldn't say that she's better, Anette was very good in her two albums but Floor provides a very nice bridge in between Anette and Tarja. She's not quite as operatic as Tarja and that lets her do Anette's songs as well. All of them have got different singing styles and it's quite honestly difficult to compare them. It was a good performance,but I went to go see PAIN. ^^
Not necessarily, I did see her life, and she did not really give a lot of energy in her singing... the longer she was in nightwish, the more boring became her singing, sorry, but she did not really love what she was doing. Also, in matters of voice, hard to compare - but talking tecniques, Floor is 100% better than Tarja. What you like more, that is a matter of taste and up to you.
You could say the same about Tarja just not with Britney Spears.. u could take some opera voice for that (im not in the opera scene so i cant make an example) but Opera fittet Nightwish Metal great - why cant a lighter poplike voice.. why is floor so "good" now.. i mean.. shes Rock - and Nightwish is Metal - how dare they to MIX the genre? ...
I was going to see them when they came to Melbourne, but as soon as I heard Anette would not be singing I sold my ticket, don't get me wrong I have nothing against Floor but I payed to see Anette not Floor. And to be completely honest I hope Floor doesn't stay, the songs don't sound right to me with her singing them
I wish Annette the best, perhaps she could hook up with Brittany Spears as a backup singer or something.... but please don't inflict her on a genre she has no business singing.
Oh, great a generic female rock singer voice. Honestly not sure if I want to see Nightwish when they come to the US now... Sounds too much like lacuna coil's lead singer. Yea, Annette had horrible stage presence, and her live performances of their first album together were rough but this album seemed more in tune with her voice and was liking the live performances they showed from the concert in their home city. As long as within temptation stays the same I might want to see Euro bands..

Floor Storytime singing?? It was horrible! I prefer the songs that Anette sang in the band are not sung by another person who is not her.
Never heard her actually sing, she makes a great impression of a duck though. Remarkable talent there.
