That's another great lesson. I love the Allmans Brothers . Keep it up you are a diamond in the rough. I can't believe you don't have 1000's of follows. Maybe some more southern rock; Skynyrd ;Marshall Tucker ;Molly Hachett;and a lot of Clapton. Thanks for great lessons
Thank you! I wish I had more time to make videos and play but life has been busy. Hopefully soon!! great suggestions! skynyrd and tucker and some of my favorites!
Thank you so much for putting this video out. As you say there are few if any lessons on this great Allman Brothers master piece. look forward to learning more !
Ok. November 11,1977. The 5th anniversary of Berry Oakley's death. Some friends and I went to see the Dixie Dreggs in Chattanooga TN. Small place, seated MAYBE a thousand. As you know, Twiggs was their manager. During the set, Twiggs came on stage and played Don't Want You No More and It's Not My Cross to Bare. After the show, we went up to the stage as they were breaking everything down and started talking to them. A couple of my friends played guitar so they were talking to Steve Morse. I started talking to Twiggs about the Brothers and Duane and Berry in particular. He said, "Come back here, I want to show you something.". He took us back to the dressing room and asked if we remembered him playing the two songs with the Dreggs. Well, of course. So he opens this guitar case and said, "That's the guitar I played. That's also the guitar Duane played at Fillmore East." Then he said, "I'll prove it to you. You see this little fleck in the finish? Do you have Duane's Anthology album with the booklet?" I said, " I sure do!" He said, "When you get home, look at the picture of Duane leaned against the bathroom sink with the Les Paul. If you look real close, you'll see this fleck.". Then he flipped it over to show me where he had the frets removed and set in the wood to spell "DUANE". Said he did it as a tribute when they gave him the guitar after Duane died. Then, he hands it to me and says, "Strap it on." Well, my ignorant 20 year old ass says, "I can't play guitar." He said, "It don't matter, man! Strap it on!" So I did. I held it and hit the strings. I think I almost passed out. He says, "Cool, man. One brother to another." I thanked him profusely and on my way home that night, I wrecked my car. I'll never forget that night as long as I live. Twiggs was a very cool guy. I cried when he passed away. Kyle, in a way, you are helping me reconnect with that. I understand your appreciation for Duane and the Allman Brothers and I, in turn, appreciate you. Thank you.
Mickey McConnell awesome story! That's amazing. I think that guitar is in the rock-'n'-roll hall of fame now? I'm so glad you understand how great they were my friend! Thanks for sharing!
That's Jack Pearson with me in my profile picture. A friend I've had since first grade is a friend of his and has done some work with him in Nashville. Jack comes to our little town about twice a year and plays a free acoustic concert. That's where I met him. Jack played with the Brothers from 89-91 (I think). I hope to jam a little with him one day.
Mickey McConnell wow, that's really cool! Jack is phenomenal, and one of my heroes on guitar. I saw him with the Allman Brothers in the 90s filling in for Dickey I think. Would love to take a trip out to Nashville to see him play in a small club someday
Vintage Guitar Workshop he's a super nice guy. This little town where I live is only about 7,000 people and usually around 100 show up to see Jack. I'd like to go see him play at Third and Lindsley with Tommy Emmanuel some time.
Can't wait to get ahold of this! I've got a story about Duane's Sunburst LP that he played at Fillmore East. It's a little lengthy and I don't want to take up space here unless you say it's ok. I can send an email to you if you want. Thanks, Kyle!

Vintage Guitar Workshop last I heard, it went to Galadrielle some point after Twiggs died and she has loaned it to the Big House Museum in Macon.
