Hello, Angela. Great lesson, but wasn't the original recording done in drop D, the low E tuned to D?
One of my All Time favz. From Victoria BC Canada
Dang Angela you have all the badass songs. That was my nickname by the teaching staff in junior high, "Midnight Rider." I snuck my fathers company car, a Caddilac out and joy rided all the time form like midnight to 3am. He was a bank executive. All the while a bunch of my pals talked about it all the time in class, so the teachers started calling me "Midnight Rider." Never got caught either.
Your such a wonderful teacher. Love Allman Brothers. I played lead guitar of this song in a band I was in when I was younger. The song sounds good on a Tele. Their amazing musicians & composers. You really can't go wrong if you have a few of their songs in your set.
Awsome cant read music .playing since i was five . Love learning new songs awsome. Keep m coming thank you
I discovered you a little more than a month ago. Sorry I am late to the gig. It's so obvious you enjoy playing guitar. And you are a fantastic teacher. Blessing to have found you!
Thanks for remembering a great song..
Thank your so much for this lesson. Such a great song. I recently played a friend's 1939 Martin d18 I think it was. And wow thing played like butter.
Just got home from work a while ago and I got this notification, one of my all-time favorite songs, thank you Angela ! 👍
Enjoy and happy playing!!!
Hello I'm Henry from Columbus Ohio, really like your guitar playing, thanks
Greetings from Coronado, CA. Keep the Allman Brothers lessons coming Angela! Love my Taylor acoustic guitar, 314ce.
Amazing . . . why couldn’t you have been around when I was 16? Takes me back to my childhood when I was trying to learn this off a vinyl record on low speed.
You have an excellent teaching method. Keep ‘em coming . . . I’ve entered my second childhood 🤓
Left California to my undisclosed location but I’m glad to stay with ya AP from NRG’s. Thanks
Martin Co. and Fishman rock. Thanks for your lesson
My dad gave me his Martin 000M. Early 2000's with laminated back & sides, made in PA. I've had all-solid wood guitars crack out on me before. This is perfect, not too fancy & it still has that classic Martin 000 sound. Every guitarist should have some sort of Martin 000, & prob set up with lower action. They're amazing!
Awesome lesson on a great song, I cant believe I was today years old when I found your channel! You just gained a new subscriber from Las Vegas!
Thanks so much! Welcome to the club! Next live lesson is tomorrow at 3p EST!
I came here for the riff and left with a subscription. :) You rock Angela!
I appreciate that, Michael! Thank you!
Thank you once again Angela!!
Hi Angela 😊
Gee, thanks for the lesson !
Luv this song. I'm staying in the veterans transitional housing floor at the River of life mission. & Have been in the process of getting a lesson plan for the other veterans on the trauma wing ?
If they have completed 10 lessons
Learned one complete song.
The Veterans memorial hall in Caldwell will purchase that veteran a guitar 😬
... I donated a Fender acoustic electric guitar for the men to practice with, and wanted to add that it's equipped with a fishman pickup and preamp. 🤓
Oh yeah, my guitar is a Paul Reed Smith ps20 parlor acoustic electric.
My dream guitar would be a Taylor Gs mini Koa acoustic electric.
I just learned Angie by Rolling Stones from your lesson.
So happy to have found your channel ma'am.
God Bless everyone 💜
Just bought a used Martin D-28. My new favorite guitar. Here in Virginia.
Great lesson and what a gorgeous smile, Angela. 😊
Great job Angela. Just found Ur lessons and subscribed.Live in Louisiana and my favorite acoustic guitar is my Duncan Africa.
I'm about to head to the US from.Australia for a holiday. I play Gibson acoustics (J200 and hummingbird) and have for many years gigging, but thanks to Ange, I'm on the hunt for a Martin. I know Ange plays Martins predominantly, god they sound sweet. Thanks Ange and I hope.you're at Norm's mid September!! be a treat to jam
Fav Guitar is my Dad's which was passed to me after his passing " LoPrinzi" L15 >>>>>> @Angela thank you for passing on your knowledge & passion !!!!!!
I’m so glad you played the G Minor chord as so many people miss that. I would love to own a McPherson guitar if money grew on trees.
I love my Martin 000-18 re-issue. A bit $$$ but she plays like silk!
Works well in drop D too!
absolutely!!!!
Yep. The solo Greg Allman version is played that way. The turnaround using different chords than the Allman Brothers version also. I love them both.
Dream guitar? Maybe a Collings? That said my favorite acoustic is my Taylor 814ce, blacktop builders edition. Such a beauty.
Love this song and anything by the ABB. Thank you
Top job Angela, cheers from London!
Thank you! I am just learning so the basic version is doable.
You play awesome, good job on one of my favorites. I subscribed several weeks back. And oh....hard to beat a Martin imo, and you definitely bring out the best in that one no doubt. 😊
you're such a wonderful guitar teacher. i have never picked up a guitar until today and i've already learned how to play this flawlessly.
can you please do malagueña next??
Taylor 814ce amazing guitar. Rock on girl! Love your videos.
Hi Angela, many thanks for your lesson & very inspiring playing. My favourite dream guitar is Gibson SJ-200, love the tone & vibe of the guitar. What is yours favourite accoustic? Good luck with playing & lessons & all the best, Peter.
Very good lesson Angela.
I bought a Fishman amp after 10 or so of your lessons, I'm very happy with it.
My dream guitar is a Taylor 912ce!!!
Great song! I’m in Baltimore. My favorite acoustic guitar is my current one, a Breedlove Pursuit Concert CE. I used to have an Ovation but I love this one better.
Work up to an Oregon made Breedlove. You wont be sorry.
Ovation was my first acoustic ever a little over 30 years ago. Had the rounded back. My girlfriend was drunk and fell on it and broke the neck. Out of the ones I own now my favorite go to guitar is a Seagull.
Just found your channel and really enjoying these lessons. I’m just outside of Reno NV and my dream acoustic would be a Gibson Hummingbird. Dad had one and I loved the tone.
Great lesson Angela
Tuning in from Nova Scotia, Canada. My dream acoustic guitar would be a hand made Driftwood Guitar, Triple O with Adirondack Top, A beautiful back and sides, I would like to pick out before I order.
Waco Tx. I own my dream acoustic, Fender Sonoran with Fishman electronics
Favorite acoustic is my Bedell 64-D-SK/HM If you haven't played a Bedell, I highly recommend it.
This Chick can play! Another Joan Jett? Think I'm gonna sub. You go gurl!
I'm seeing this for the first time! Dream acoustic would be a Rockbridge SJ! Huge Dave Matthews Band fan and love his burst Rockbridge!
In answer to the fav acoustic section...I'd hacve to say early Gibson J45, or anything from the 1950's in a martin. In more modern guitars I like my epiphone AJ200 SCE. Honorable mention PRS Tonare Parlor guitar.
Angela , Best guitar sound I’ve heard , 00017 , Martin , in my dreams ,Santa please lol
Thank you :)
Epiphone Excellente reissue
JP In New Orleans LA , Gibson Songwriter custom!
I guess if oney wasn't an option my dream guitar would be a Martin 000-28 or OM-28 and free choice between about 10 specimens and pick the best one, but I'm currently equally happy with my Parkwood by Cort all solid Sitka Spruce and Mahogany OM model wich I have for 12 years now and every time amazes me how good it sounds compared to guitars 2 to 3 times it's price.
Dream guitar? Either a Martin HD-28e or a Taylor 514ce, both great! Greetings from sunny Santa Monica!
Deland, Fl Gibson Songwritter Deluxe EC
Very well done
Alabama... I have a Gibson Southern Jumbo Original, Gibson J45 Standard and a Martin D15M Streetmaster...
Thank you sweetheart ❤
My dream guitar is a Mule resonator.
Sorry, this song was tuned in double drop D…. DADGBD.
Wrong, this was original, played for years before being tuned.
The Almond Joys!
Great video’s I really enjoy your teaching methods. Can you sing along I’m sure your voice is great.
Angela greetings from Pennsylvania, I just found you here a few days ago and I real appreciate the effort you put into your lesson videos. 👍 I have learned so much in such a short time, I thank you...maybe you could help with Black Water vith a video? Thank you again...
Angela, I love your lessons especially this one. Any chance that you could do a lesson that starts with Midnight Rider then jams straight into I Know You Rider (Dead version) and back again?
Great lesson. Huss and Dalton or Collings traditional.

If you get a chance can you do a lesson on After The Glitter Fades?
Dallas TX, D 45 Martin
Ebony Gibson Hummingbird from Knoxville, TN

I want a boutique guitar. Solid cedar top, solid cocobolo B&S. Mahogany neck, single piece, adjustable truss rod. Ebony or Rosewood fretboard and bridge. High gloss. 12 fret, smaller body, maybe a single 0. Visually cool, maybe a bit of inlay on the fretboard. Elegant, not glitzy.
From Texas; got my eyes on a Bedell single cutaway. $4,400.
At 11:21 of the video I'm confused. You said you're barring the entire 3rd fret, but then you're placing your middle finger on the 3rd fret of the B string? Thx for clarifying. This is a fun song for this beginner. P.S. You look like you could be Valerie Bertinelli's daughter...and since you play guitar so well, is your dad's name Eddie?!?
When you have a moment, how about Black Sun by Deathcab for Cutie? Beautiful song.
Hi, I have a question about your "Martin" DX Johnny Cash guitar. Have you had any problems with fret sprout and or cutting your hand? Thanks! Shalom/gw
Hi GA, in fact, this guitar is a 00017e by Martin Guitars. If you see one at your next visit to a guitar shop, pick it up and play it. They're a lot of fun.
@@AngelaPetrilliMusic Hi Angela, I am a 73 year old guitar player. I played lead guitar in a '60s rock band and made a living at it for over six years. When I got married I switched to playing in churches. The pay is nothing, but the retirement plan is out of this world. The reason for asking about the Martin is that up until a year and a half ago I had never owned one, but it was on my to-buy list. So, during the peak of the COVID mess, I bought an SC13e, sight unseen, from a local Guitar Center. That's when the trouble began. The problems and Martin's responses were as follows: 1) Fret sprout so bad it left my fingers bleeding. R: Sent back to Martin, but the fret board continues to shrink. Guitar Center offered to have their "Luthier" fix it. I opted to spend over $200 for Luther tools and do it myself. Work continues on this issue. But I will never again buy another Martin that is Made in Mexico. 2) Razor sharp pick guard. The factory fixed it after telling me that they only bevel the pick guards on their "more expensive" guitars. Like taking a piece of sandpaper around the plastic pick guard is not warrented if you only spend $1,600,00 on a new Martin. 3) The built in electronic tuner lags so badly as to render it useless. You adjust string tension and then it displays several seconds later. My solution is a Snark. Martin says they know about the issue, but offered no resolution to the problem.4) Guitar ships in a cheap nylon gig bag. How cheap? When I went to show the guitar to a friend, the plastic pull tab broke off the zipper. He laughed. I was embarrassed. My solution was to tie on a leather shoe lace. I guess leather is hard to come by in Mexico. I'd rather they had shipped it without a case than this piece of crap. If I keep it I'll likely buy a decent case. I have collected guitars for sixty years. NONE of my other guitars have had these types of problems. I really expected more from Martin. On the plus side, I do like the sound. If I can get the fret sprout issue resolved I'll be happy with it. Shalom/gw PS My fret sprout test is to wipe one of my wife's old stockings up and down the edge of the fret board. If it snags, I've got fret sprout.
@@AngelaPetrilliMusic Hi Angela, thanks for the lessons. I am a retired Senior Electrical Engineer and physicist wanna be. ;-)) I used to teach/lead a group of over 100 people who were in various stages of the thier guitar playing journey. It was a lot of fun. But the best part is it turned people who didn't get along all that well into friends. It really helped the company, but I don't think anyone recognised what I was really doing. If you don't mind, I'd like to include you (BCC of course) in my "Nifty-Stuff" emails. i.e I have a Fender American Telecaster Deluxe that my daughter bought me for Father's day, three years ago. I recently bought an EART Tele copy for $379.00. The fret work is among the best I've ever seen and the guitar is beautiful. I don't want to put it down!
I was surfing RUclips one evening and stumbled onto a young man from Austrailia named, Joe Robinson. He won Australia's got talent. WOW!!! Check him out!
PS Sorry for going off on Martin in a previous e-mail. I didn't mean to sound so negative.
0om
Martin. No question
The best version of this song is the reggae version by Paul Davidson. Brilliant
Martin or Taylor guitar
Love what you are doing, have you ever considered using a 12 string in your lessons?
I have that Martin on wish list. For when my ship comes in bringing my lottery ticket.
