My apologies for not getting this episode out sooner than I would have liked to. Been busy with a bunch of projects.
Also, did not expect the "Dr." prefix in the billing for one of the main news anchors-- usually, the weatherman has gotten that billing, as Dr. Dave Eiser did on WLS Eyewitness News in Chicago in the 80s.
The Real Ghostbusters figures at the end...Very nice! And the pregnant lady hit by the train..Was hoping she made it..And she did. Wonder how that family is doing today. That baby is almost 40 now..Yikes. Another great VHS vid.
Yeah it blows my mind how much time has passed by, yet it only feels like maybe 10 years in my memories.
@@mkmfeatures Glad I'm not the only who thinks time has malfunctioned .
I remember back in Thanksgiving 1988, there was a politician or something, speaking on almost all the network channels. A simultaneous broadcast. It was dark outside, so somewhere between 6 pm and 10 pm. A few months back I tried to looking up if any politician gave a speech on that day, but couldn't find anything. I watched this video hoping for a clue. It just ended, and nothing.
I can't recall anything from my own memory regarding that. I'll try digging around for some info and see if I can come up with a good guess.
Edit to add: It might have been then President Reagan giving Proclamation 5844.

@@mkmfeatures Thanks for checking. You don't have to, though. I've been looking for a while and nothing. The only address to the country from Regan that year was on Feb 2, 1988. www.reaganlibrary.gov/reagans/reagan-administration/president-reagans-addresses-nation
What happened on that day was that my cousin's in my father's side were making fun of my cousin on my mother's side. And some 10 minutes or so later, I saw that some guy was talking on all the channels, so I surreptitiously signaled to her to come over to my parent's room, and I showed it to her to cheer her up. And for some reason at that age it was funny, and she was laughing, etc.
So I've always wondered who was speaking. I don't remember Regan's face, and the location was whitish, so not the Oval Office.
Love the anchor billing here-- "And now, 24 Reports, making a difference with the North Valley's first evening news...with Karina Rusk and Dr. Tom Linden, weather with Jeff Peterson, and Tom Carlson on sports. Live, this is 24 Reports First News."
One of the fun things about small town news stations is that occasionally you would see the local anchors at the grocery store or the mall.
@mkmfeatures Never been lucky enough to have that happen for me.
