Don't forget to put rant alert warning before your rants, that's the best part 😆😆😆
We all have those days, all set, and in the mood, to get on with some job or project, only for it to be scuppered by someone else's lazy incompetence, like selecting and sending the wrong part or just the bloody weather.
The craftsmanship, honesty and skill of the channel is inspiring and we are lucky to have you inform and entertain us, and you and your family deserve all the success your work hard and work smarter ethic brings to your table, thank you Martin 👌

Martin, can i just say - whether you remember or not is another story but you used to help me a lot with support for the t-shirt printing 5-6 years back, thats how i started watching all manner of things be it retrorestore, butlers empire, keeping up to date with Gary's channel (crap it man haha!) Jimmy's body shop on facebook or Tracey's hair salon... there's no filter with you guys, you're genuinely all knowledgeable, entertaining people who frankly people are going to look at or nit pick certain things because of a few reasons... you're not wrong when you call some people stupid because they are... but i think the main thing they get negative about is because they get jealous.
You guys have love, a real genuine heart and many thousands of us enjoy watching you guys, I've certainly learnt a lot but you have helped me no end when I've been struggling with my own life with anxiety and depression.
Keep it up mate and much love to you all

That's the downside of buying online, when things go wrong its that bit harder to get it sorted. With an actual physical building store, its somewhat easier to keep popping in and out to. Either way its annoying, but these things happen from time to time unfortunately.

Hi matey. I hope this helps you out. I have two Autels machines and both are fantastic. I have the smaller one which is the Maxidiag MD808Pro and the bigger one which is the MaxiCheck MX808.With the MX808 I was able to program a new ECU on my old Vauxhall Meriva on a 2007 plate. The MX808 is packed solid with stuff you can do. If your going to get anything from Autel, they have a fantastic You-Tube channel where they go through all of the functions of their machines. When I was able to program that ECU I then realised what a worth wile buy it was. Since then I have used it on many different cars and never been disappointed. There are now newer machines available but until mine blows up I will continue using it until I no longer can. Would not mind their latest as there's nothing they cant do but when it comes to tools, I am like a kid in a sweet shop. I cant say NO....

Absolutely spot on again Martin. 20,000 experts with 20,000 views and my opinion Martin is the same as you. Your entitled to rant sir you let em know. I had an Irmscher kitted Astra H a 54 reg as well if I remember and the reason i sold it was everything I ordered was just like you and the wrong part always turned up. I got fed up sending stuff back and forth. I had to do the car as a Opel even though it was Vauxhall badged and the parts which I thought Opel being German actually started coming from Spain. In the end it was taking up so much time I sold it. It was a great car though. This was back about 2010. The Landscaping though tell me about it. Our forecast last week was wet and windy all week. We probably had an hours rain and only one windy day. As always sir a pleasure to spend some time in your company.

Try to find an OpCom or a china clone of it.
It´s a USB unit and you need a laptop to use it, but it can do anything the original Opel Tech2 can do.
Especially for Opel/Vauxhall before ´99 this thing is essential, before they implemented OBD2.
Got me one when my ´98 Vectra B had some issues (crankshaft/camshaft sensors), read out everything, troubleshooting was easy.
Lost one key a little later, went to a dealer, got me a new one.
They told me, "Wait, we have to code it into the car!" (which would´ve had set me back another 70€), but I said, "No thanks, can do that myself!". They said it´s impossible.
Carrying the laptop to the car and setting it up nearly took more time then the coding itself.

I'm enjoying this run of videos on the old Mk4 but keep an eye on those Chinese calipers, they are a good price but both rears that i bought from ebay ended up leaking so i ended up buying some good used GSI turbo ones from C S Autos, if your keeping Vauxhall's for a bit you might want to invest in an Op-com reader too, cheap but apparently reads it all (once i get mine sorted :)

Absolutely loved that video cosI have identical rants based on very similar issues.
Our (I'm a similar age to you) problem is, and these were your issues, we simply won't accept the failings of technology, that we've been repeatedly told saves us time.
    No it doesn't!!
Back in the day, a motor factor would get you the right calipers and you wouldn't need to plug your car in if it had a carb and points!
Younger generations accept this is the correct way, they know no different and I feel truly sorry for them.
You're patio laying will be fine mate, cos it's using old techniques that still serve us well, and the last time I looked, a cement mixer doesn't have an OBD port on it 😂😂😂

  • @neilashman7794
    @neilashman7794 3 года назад

Some you win, some you lose. On the subject of those calipers I think you don't want them on your car anyway as they look like nasty Chinese copies.
The best compromise I have found is to buy some second hand Ate/Girling calipers and recon them yourself.
Then you haven't got the car off the road for long.
Don't forget to change the flexi hoses, they're getting ancient by now.

I'm sure Leon of Bodgit & Leggit reviewed a similar model of Launch scan tool (CRP129E) to your's and he didn't think much to it. VAUX-COM is the one to get and is the next best thing to the factory scan tool. I wish I'd bought mine when I still had the Astra. I recently bought the ThinkOBD 100 code reader and it is better than the £10 scan tool I bought on Amazon last year.

Ah Martin, you’re not having a good day. As always you are my hero, stay with it, better days ahead I’m sure. Your videos are really important to me and keep me going. So thank you for being there. Take care, stay safe, but remember to have fun. Frank

    Hi Martin,
At least you had the correct T shirt on. Lol. The big Gaz was just waiting for you to turn on him and took cover inside. Keep doing what you're doing, the fools are every where. Every channel has a few sad clowns.
I have the Autel Maxicom MK808, had it a few years now and pay the licence (approx £100) to update each year but you don't have to if you don't want to. I think it's quite good and probably does a lot more than I know about. It would have done a DPF regen on Tracy's Picasso. well, ok not that time in Cyprus but in future motors.
I had a problem this year where the internal memory wouldn't take the new download but we worked around that by transferring some stuff onto an SD card.
By all accounts it's as good as you'll get for under £1000.
Mine isn't the blue-tooth, I just thought when I'm using it I'm at the car anyway. Sometimes the cable is a pain if using it when driving for 'live data' ABS etc. but that's it.

I didn't know there was a license for the updates, cheers.

      @@retrorestore Hi Mart.
Yeah, just checked back. 2020 was $70 2019 was $98 to Autel USA.
Tbh, I think this kind of nods towards it being a pro unit opposed to a lot of the DIY ones. Or at least that's what I tell myself each year.

Hi Martin, really enjoy your videos. I have the Autel MK808BT and although it was expensive (£481 as its the bluetooth version) its really great and worth the money compared to the competition.
Like yourself my hobby is doing up and flipping cars so I wanted a generic tester that would work on a range of different vehicles and so far although Im still getting used to it, it hasn't disapointed

I bought same caliper from ebay but for a vectra n they just didn't work well at all. End up upgrading them to vxr ones discs and pads

Tech and weather they will always ruin your day. I fully agree with you about not taking the calipers off I always do the same as you have. I did receive the wrong discs from Brembo though even after confirming they was the right ones with them. Unfortunatly there are a lot of idiots out there chin up m8 tomorrow will be better.

Well, rain is a thing in England, right? lolo It is quite possible, that the calipers are used on the same model in a different country, because they don't use that clip.

bet your blood pressure lower now :-)
Even project man looks to be out of steam on that patio job ...
eBay listing compatibility on car parts quite a mess and sometimes library pictures used that confuses it even further .
    Return a quality cockup too.
eBay with current changes deserves a rant of it's own :-)
calm down and carry on ... ... raining again today, hope you ain't got a mix on :-P

The other thing is when you answer a question in the comments and get no acknowledgment for doing so! I get that loads. Like you say people who ask questions where the information is in the video and they cant be bothered to watch it. Blimey i've got comment ranting disease now lol 😎👍

Just keep doing what you are doing, I enjoy watching your channel because you aren't a pro. You inspire people to have a go. Plus, can beat a good old rant or moan.
