Nope, you won't find me putting used tyres on my car. You don't know how many kerbs they've been bounced over by the previous owner. Compromised side walls, run at the wrong pressure etc, they're what keep you on the road and alive. Just bite the bullet and put decent rubber on the motor.
Hi Martin few weeks ago got the wife a mk4 2.2 cabby had bank1 lambda fault I found the easiest way to get it out was useing a gripper socket on long extension from above with breaker bar I myself have been in the Vauxhall scene for 12yrs now loving the Astra content been watching your vids for about 4yrs now keep up the good work💪👍🏻👌😎😉
Great video, definitely worth doing these checks every few months as it may save you a costly repair or breakdown that could be prevented. In the summer months I just top up my screen wash with water, save a little cash. Every little helps....
Heat the 02 sensor up and spray with WD40 while it's hot and repeat the process until it comes off. It will create quite a lot of smoke but it's never failed me yet 😁3 times should be enough 👍
Brilliant Andy when you picked it and the elastic popped it open a very nice click glad you enjoyed the challenge I'll keep an eye out and hopefully find another challenge for you 😀👍
I've always been a fan of part worn tyres, great value and you can find premium brand ones for a fraction of the price of new Chinese ditch finders. I'd be checking the manufacturered dates though before I stuck em on the car
Mine was same when I fitted new shocks and top mounts to my mondeo st tdci it could of been more but rear was OK as I had only changed the front I did speak to guy and he said my rear bolts was well rusty and he said if I was changing my rear shocks in future it worth getting new bolts to make it easier for adjustment I said I got it to do but as the front failed the fronts was first
I only pay £25 for front wheel alignment at my local tyre place. Better to support the small guys. When I had my Astra, I had to wedge the exhust pipe (I had no vice at the time) and use a stilson wrench to get the O2 sensor off.
Easiest way to get that is sensor off, cut the wires off, smash the sensor guts off above the nut and then out a normal socket on it and crack it off with a breaker bar from above. It's never failed me.
@@retrorestore that’s how I got the one out on my mini, I thought I’d torn the thread out, I asked the boy at the garage next to me if he had a tap the size and un beknown to me he had one that’s meant for the job , it’s called a lambda sensor thread chaser

Good video Martin I have been watching your channels for a couple of months now and really enjoy the st220 jobs and the mk4 astra jobs very soon im going to be doing a lot of work to my st220 and going to be giving her a full respray ill tell you what im going to do to it 1. Going to be taking the engine out and putting another 3.0 v6 in it take everything out the engine bay and getting all the surface rust out and make it brand new again 2. Put everything back in the engine bay and put the clutch from the old engine onto the new one and that's the engine bay done 3. Going to strip the whole car on the exterior going to respray the outside and get all the scratches out of the car and make it brand new again 4 Sort out the rust that's on my arches weld them out and get 2 new rear arches for it. 5. Taking everything from out under the car and taking all the old corroded parts and treat the rust underneath I would vactan it because i have been watching james from the savage garage using it to repair the rust on his st diesel. 6. Would get 4 new coil springs for it and struts dont need new brakes because i put new brakes on it last month and would also treat the rust underneath the wheel arches and vactan the whole rust so it turns black and never to be seen again 7. Sandblasting and powdercoating the front and rear subframes to get the rust off them as well. 8. Put 4 new wheel barings on it and 4 brand new shocks. 9. Put a milltek exhaust for it same as yours because i would call mine Mr milltek 10. Respray my front bumper because its got a big massive scrape all the way underneath the driver side fog light 11. Put 2 new catalytic convertors on 12. 2 brand new silver headlights for it 13. Put a new pollun filter air fuel filter and that's the service. 14. Get a fancy spoiler for it to make it look sporty 15. Put new windscreen wipers on it. 16. Get some fancy gel plates for it to make it look very cool 😎 . 17. Respray the bonnet lid to get the rust off that. 18. Get a new key like yours Martin. 19. Get 2 new rear side doors because mine are corroded. 20. Get some racing calipers 21. Get a new starter motor for it. 22. Put everything back together and get the st ready for its mot road tax it insure it then get it ready for the mot and then if it passes the mondeo st220 is all finished and then be taking to the scottish performance show and then take a holiday with my dad and we would take the st on a ferry and take it to another country and then drive it and it will put a smile on my face and because i love my st220 and it will look amazing like it did when it came out on the 20th July 2006 and its my dream thing
£50 for the tracking that's expensive I had mine done a couple weeks ago 4 wheel alignment £30 including vat that tyre place is pulling your pants down and spanking you
yep, test the heater element in the sensor with a DMM after good visual of wiring & connector and if sensor element tests bad chop it and get a ring spanner or socket on it . Most times heater circuit codes be burnt out sensor element but bad wiring pretty close second common failure. about only sensor sockets that don't spread are snapon but even then due to space constraints and not wanting risk escalate job cost in moving things for access we chop sensor for wrench or socket on a flexi ratchet, most times extending handle ones like facom or high-five produce as got give it some mother lover cussing and grunting get um start turning . (premier brand do a nice high-five one sensible coin on eBay)
@@retrorestore hope it helps, extending handle flexi 3/8 ratchet of decent quality is game changer in getting job jobbed in tighter spaces as can angle it about and tweak length as long as you can get away with . Man used tyres at £30 each, I remember paying £8 a tyre for cheap brand names used and 10 to 12 for good named brands and that fitted/balanced with old valve stem and grubby prints all over your wheel lol .Even on marketplace it hard find decent matching used tyres cheap, sometimes get good buy on complete set with rims . You older than me so can probally remember it in shillings and pence lol . You lucky have old school scrappers near you, miss the days of a scrapyard saturday part hunt lol .
thankyou Martin an enjoyable video a great deal on the tyres too,, look forward to the sensor replacement video, could i ask your opinion about the topdon diagnostic tool ? have a good family break, 👍👍
Hi Martin. I've just watched a video on how to stop the O2 sensor socket spreading open. How to Remove Stuck O2 Sensor With a Hose Clamp Trick, Best Technique. On channel - EVERY DAY I RACE. 21st June 21.
Ive a zafira A 1.6 the exhaust looks the same as yours. I had to drop the front part and use Stiltsens on the 02 sensor when the exhaust rotted out. Funnily enough,my engine light came on last year saying it was the 02 sensor on a trip to Blackpool. I always carry my little OBD2 so I reset it. It's never came back on. This was a few weeks in to changing over to E10 fuel. I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but.....
Best thing to do removing old o2 sensors is cut the wire off and use a normal socket or ring spanner, those slotted sockets always open up
"They've made a space for this down the scrapyard" What a diabolical liberty Martin!🤣

Martin, cut the wire and put a deep reach socket on it after getting it red hot, then once it’s out use a thread chaser to clean the thread
Good idea bud thanks

Full tank Martin, have you won the lottery? 😂😂
love your videos keep them coming 5 star
Prices of everything seem to be going up every month at the moment.
Should drive better now.👌
How's ur toe.. project man's video as made my week at ur expense, but so funny 😅🤣😂
Your lovely dog chasing shadows ROFL
He does it all the time lol
I learned my lesson the hard way. I never buy used tyres.
There's used, and used. These are graded.

Funny enough, I did think of that
Great videos, you sound a lot like Mike Brewer 😂
🤭
Just wondering with the o2 code saying heater have you checked the fuse for it as I’m sure you have a o2 heater sensor fuse, just a thought
Engine light, mechanic's call it the , MONEY LIGHT.!!
i hope you checked the D.O.T code on the new old tyres if they are 6 years or older then not worth fitting the rubber dry rots over time
worst case new exhaust or need a hotter heat source. i think theirs an air tool vibrates stubborn stuff or just cuss n turn pray.

Vauxhall's go through O2 sensors and coil packs like nobody's business.
80 quid for a budget tyre, are they havin' a laugh. Up North I get AAA rated Hankook fitted for £58 and a ditch finder is £45 fitted.
go 205/55/16 so much cheaper for some reason than the 50
The light will come back on soon its because you had it plugged into the machine
Full tank of fuel ey Martin 😂
surprised you dont do you own tracking
All you need to do with a rusty car underneath is just a heated up with gas
Tracking so dear nowadays
👍👍👍
Hi martin
Why didn’t he cut the wire on it and put the closed end of a 22mm spanner on it dum dum
Work it out
My shinny turd audi engine managent lights on. Not effecting the drive
I had the same fault codes with my Corsa, eventually the light went out. Touch wood 🪵 it hasn't come back on since. I often pick up part worn tyres. 🙂
