As someone who lives on Hoopers island its an amazing feeling knowing people come down here to appreciate the beauty and can share it to others to see. Also a fun fact the reason the store only sells pepsi products is Coca cola didnt want to drive all the way down here to sell products and only pepsi accepted coming all the way down here
That turtle you found was a Diamondback Terrapin, which are endangered! They live in brackish water so I'm sure the reclaimed land will serve the turtles well
Grew up on the right just past @21:15 moved away to college when I was 17 and back on the shore now. The Old Saltys face is my great grand father, he grew up on the lower island and my grand parents owned the restaurant until the early 2000's.
You are exactly the type of rider I'd love to have as a riding buddy. I'm into nature, good views, and old buildings. No one i know would stop for me to check things out like that. Need more people who appreciate the journey to its full potential.
Be sure so many aren’t doing for the joy of seeing the World but so that the World might see them. So much beauty in this World, we just need to slow down and take a moment to appreciate it. Ride safe bro
Thanks dude!! I love being able to show how beautiful this area is! And honestly most of this stuff I would never even see if it weren’t for the bikes 🙌🏻
Thanks for giving an old man a blast from the past!! I used vacation there for 2 weeks a year with my best friends family! We spent our young teen years exploring everything about that place. An old man named Roamy told us everything about the islands. The road to the third island still existed, but the bridge was gone from a storm. We had a couple of small boats, and went by water to the 2nd island general store. Or the one room post office. Rippon brothers was a “picking house”. You could watch the boats come in and offload the catch of the day, or watch the women pick crabs. They were so fast that you couldn’t see what they were doing unless they slowed down to show you. We would buy a bushel of salted eels to bait our trot line, and had all the crabs you dream of wanting! It was like Forest Gump. Everything you could imagine making with crabs and fish. There used to be three huge wooden barges grounded in the river. Good place to get a few dozen soft crabs for lunch. Just scoop them off the sides, take them home and clean them. We always brought home plenty of crab meat and soft crabs for the next month. My buddy’s Dad used to go down every month in season to get stuff for friends and family. Two dollars/lb for regular, three dollars for jumbo lump, regular soft crabs cleaned/wrapped and frozen $.50/each, the whalers would cover a whole slice of bread with just the body for only $1.00. Our freezer was always well stocked. There was a lot more land back then. The bridges at the time were made of wood Timbers. You could watch them flex under the weight of the vehicles and they would bounced as you went over them. It was more than a little scary. I remember that place like it was yesterday, and it will always be the same golden place in my mind and memories. You never mentioned the crabbing fleet. There used to be a lot of crab boats on both islands. Did they move on over the years?
Thank you for sharing your memories. We drove over there last year and had dinner at Old Salty's, enjoyed every bite. We plan on going back for the lovely ride and great food! Your description is like something out of a story, and as we read it, we could picture you there with your buddy. We hope this message finds you blessed. Sincerely, Kevin and Julia, Port Republic, Maryland.
Man, I'm so sorry you weren't able to enjoy a meal at Old Salty's. It's one of my favorites. Many decades ago, it was the area's school house. My grandmother was a teacher there (so I'm told). I hope you come back.
Man I’ve lived in Maryland since 1976 and have been riding too and never even heard of this, I’m going to have to check it out, thanks for the tip and video
Back in the early 70's there was a monthly mag called Road Rider and each issue was filled with stories like this - people on their bikes just out and about exploring. I loved those monthly treats and getting lost in the adventures. Very good video. Thanks!
I live on the Eastern Shore, grew up here. Good to see someone showing the sights we have here. You should ride out to Elliot Island sometime. Quite beautiful out there.
This is my first time seeing you, but wow, this was so much fun!! I’ve lived in Maryland my entire life, but I didn’t know about those islands. Super cool. Thanks for saving the turtles. 🐢 That near mishap at the end . . . oh my!
Me and my husband took that drive in our 2018 Dodge Challenger TA 392, sunroof open, driving through the sweeping curves, we stopped at Old Salty's, food is AMAZING.....you need to go back when they are open! Great video, thank you for sharing your journey/experience!
If you’re doing this drive, get a crabcake at Old Salty’s in Fishing Creek right before Hoopers island. It’s the best crabcake on the eastern shore, possibly all of MD. I make the 2 hour drive there every month or two, it’s worth every minute.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I just love your positivity man! I'm not sure if you're familiar with Freddie Dobbs' youtube channel from the UK, but he's always got positive vibes going too. Between the two of you it's a toss up who's my favorite moto vlogger lol. Every time I watch y'alls videos I just want to hop back on my bike, even if I've just ridden. Keep it up, and ride safe sir!
Heck yeah! Glad you finally made it down there. It's so worth it. PS the H on the ground you double glanced at is for helicopters to know where to land. I looked it up when Bob & I went there.
Yes, Mr Burch, in the big scheme of things it is only our own thoughts that echo in our minds..... lol, Maryland has some unique spots & I've seen many from within the Chesapeake Bay from a boat. Down in the southern corner of the State both Virginia & Maryland share the peninsula & it's a rare place to travel. Thanks for showing us your journey..... peace & do be safe
Hey Burch if you want to see some amazing country side, check out the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Loads of mountains and rolling hills with some beautiful farm land.
This video took me back. I used to spend my summers down there all throughout my youth, and there’s nowhere else like it. The views, the wildlife, the sunsets, the storms!! All of it is something I’ve missed for many years now. Sadly, our family had to sell the property to take care of grandma, but I can definitely still go visit! You’ve inspired me to make a weekend out of it. It’s so fun watching how people who’ve stumbled across this place react. I used to love taking friends down there and camping next to the bay. Everyone waves and loves to stop and chat. The definition of getaway. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me! I’m pumped for a trip now 😁
It really was such a nice trip! And I’m a nature lover through and through, so I was pleasantly surprised I got to see so much wildlife! Just a few miles from this place is Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, so I’ll definitely have to make time to get out there one day 🙌🏻
Awesome video sir! I’ve lived most of my 61 years here in Maryland (Moco, & Fredco) but I adore the Eastern shore and have been down the road you are traveling here as well as others there. Used to bike to Tilghman Island from my ex-father in law’s house on Broad Creek/St.Michaels. Anyhow the Eastern Shore is truly breathtaking!
I was combing through RUclips and found your trip on the loneliest road. What memories it's been at least 30 years since I've been down there. I used to live in Talbot county and we would frequently go down to Old Salty's to eat. But we've been down to the very end where you were also. Just a few miles below Cambridge there is Vienna Maryland. Near there is Elliot's Island. Decades ago there was a thriving community there with the land is washing away quicker than Hooper's Island. It might have been PBS that did a documentary on a woman still living there and having a store an old mom-and-pop store. I suspect by now it's gone but it would be worth your trip.
Hey so, I was watching RUclips, came across the Hooper Island video and jumped on my bike from up here in Rehoboth and traced your steps. Awesome ride, thanks!!!!
What an extraordinary place! My mind is a bit blown by that, I just can't imagine what it must be like living there... & some really fancy houses, too! Damn.
OMG, thank you for this video. I grew up in Maryland and got to go to that area with my grandfather since I’m blind. I don’t have the chance to those things motorcycle. I just bought my wife a Chrysler convertible and inspire me to take a trip down there and show her how beautiful Maryland is when you get out of DC Baltimore corridor. I just discovered thank you very much. I’ve subscribed.
Love these kinds of videos from you! My fiance and I both just got our first 300cc motorcycles (Rebel / CB300R). I've been watching your vids since we started on Groms earlier this year and its given us an appreciation for just riding, exploring, and meeting other riders.
Ahh that’s so sick!! Congrats on the upgrades! Rides like this really are the best part of motorcycling. Having a cool destination in mind, but just veering off and exploring every chance you get on the way there 🙌🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing. I'm a little south of Annapolis at Chesapeake Beach. I have a 2006 Yami Road Star and a 2013 Ultra Classic Limited. My bucket list ride was to do the circle from where i am on the bay, down to Norfolk, over the Bay Bridge, up 13, back to 301/50, over the other bay bridge to Annapolis and back down 2 to home. I need to do it quick as I'm gonna be 72 this month and the Harley is getting heavy.
Awesome place to ride 🏍😍 For safe riding in the heat (below 37C/100F) I have a mesh jacket. It's awesome when the wind blows through the jacket while riding 😁
Great video! This put me in my feels! I’m live in NC but used to travel to the Eastern Shore each week for work! I spent a lot of time in the rural areas of the Eastern Shore and came across a lot of cool things. I miss that area!
Outstaning video and THANK YOU! I've only been a little past Old Salty's restaurant. Now I have to ride that road and bridge. Incredible. Ride safe and have fun.
Thanks for the great video! It was great to see that part of the shore, especially since I can’t do long drives. And you do not need to apologize for adhd stuff, it’s how I operate too!
I absolutely love these videos. Your adventures and random ADHD moments are what make the experience watching exciting. Happy travels my friend. Keep these videos coming 👍😁❤❤
Going over the Bay Bridge is horrible enough in a car, I did it once on a bike and it was nerve-wracking. That road looks awesome, and I didn't even know it was a thing.
It's not that bad. It's just a very elevated road. I will say heading west over the bat bridge, the last half mile to a mile gets pretty bumpy, and may rattle your brain into a funk for a couple of hours.
Dynamite video Burch! I am a retired Navy guy originally from Miami, Florida with last stop in Maryland in 2002. Maryland is absolutely beautiful, except for the slow drivers:-) That said, if you really want to see clear water visit the keys (Key Largo down to Key West), especially by bike (motorcycle). If you want to see clearer water see Hawaii. If you want to see extremely clear water ride around Guam and then the absolute are the islands of the South Pacific. Stay safe young man and enjoy the ride, because the next one in the afterlife could be the ultimate"-)! Chris
I live in MD and heard of it just never been here but it’s most certainly on the list now. Thank you! Ride safe bro 💪🏼 I’ll take the Jeep or the truck down to the end for you and send it your way lol.
Man, I grew up on the shore (Salisbury) and it has a subtle beauty that people don't really understand. I never want to live there again, but I enjoy visiting. One of these days I'll take a ride to the various islands before they all sink into the bay. Love this content highlighting the Shore ✊🏾
Lol... Hoopers (pronunced Huppers) is like the end of the world. We drove out there when me and my kid had COVID and were isolated. I lost my smell but she didn't. She then said she had to poop. Found this hot grimy potapot at the end of the road. She was super pissed.
Very cool ride! I live in Crownsville. After watching this, now I want to ride my Honda monkey down there . I’ll have to map out some side roads to avoid 50 as much as possible.
I live in Delaware and ride that all the time. It's a nice ride. Blackwater Wildlife refuge leading into Hoopers is nice and quiet. Curves and scenery! Word of advise, check the tides before going out. The water crosses the road in several places during high tide. You do NOT want that water on your bike. Oh, the police DO patrol and sit on the roads so consider that before you decide to open her up and also be mindful of crossing wildlife. Keep your awareness up.
No restrictions on drone flying on Hooper's. It's just outside of the controlled airspace around Annapolis. I always have one with me when I travel. But then, I also have about 150 liters of lockable luggage space.
Well hey man, no way! I’m in Columbia. When you posted this vid I was on the opposite side of the state, riding along 70 out to Point Lookout Overlook with an InstaX Mini doing the same thing but in the forested terrains. Highly recommend, the view is incredible, and you can see on the opposite side of the bank of a river, that’s where WV begins. Hope to catch ya out there!
"You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a physiatrists office." Great ride man. I'm heading to the wye river in Sept for some serious crabbing, Eastern shore is Maryland's secret paradise!
Ok.. randomly came across this channel. RUclips doing its job?.. maybe.. but I wanted to say I love it man. Also a Marylander that loves traveling and reading those road signs. Also… my lucky number 23 part of the reason why my sons name, Jordan.. going to have to take a trip to check this place out.
Just found this channel so I don't know if you've already been, but if not, now you have to head down to the Deal Island WMA and camp for an evening or two. Beautiful views and tons of local birds and wildlife. I'd wait until it's a bit cooler though since right now the horseflies are out in full force attack squadrons. I tried to do a bit of roughing it last month and had to leave early or have my bones picked clean. :/
Just drove there with 12 other vettes from Corvette Annapolis from the Annapolis mall to the end of the road then ate at Old Salty's. I've lived in Maryland my whole life and had never been there. Nice drive... Except the bridge traffic coming home 😖 It reminded me a lot of Deal island.
Thanks for this great vid. I found this route scouring at a map looking for a fun trip with my Gladiator. Haven’t done it yet so this was a great preview. Hoping I can just pull off and pop up my RTT for the night. 🤙

The general store actually makes really good food, all fresh and made to order
Pepsi Is better than coke anyway.
That turtle you found was a Diamondback Terrapin, which are endangered! They live in brackish water so I'm sure the reclaimed land will serve the turtles well
The university of Maryland should use them as their mascot. That would make sense.

I lived in southern Maryland for 36 years and this is the first time I've heard of this.
Welp he did said is in eastern shore and I’m pretty sure anyone who grew up and lived in the western shore doesn’t know about that island
Me as well !!!!

Dang your state is beautiful Burch.. Every time you go on the longer rides it really showcases Maryland.
Thanks dude!! I love being able to show how beautiful this area is! And honestly most of this stuff I would never even see if it weren’t for the bikes 🙌🏻
Maryland is nice when you get out of the shitholes like the DC suburbs and Baltimore
Maryland-America in miniature!
Eastern and Western Maryland are beautiful. Sadly, politics have ruined the state. Central MD, where I live, is garbage.
@@jonwoodworker Same with California.

I love living on the eastern shore of Maryland anytime I go out and ride i can always find some of the most amazing places
Man, I grew up on the shore (Salisbury) and it has a subtle beauty that people don't really understand. I never want to live there again, but I enjoy visiting. One of these days I'll take a ride to the various islands before they all sink into the bay. Love this content highlighting the Shore ✊🏾
Grew up in this area. don’t forget the ride to Elliot’s island, it’s just as good. And the ride down to crocheron.
I'm only watching cause I'm from Maryland 😅
Gotta love Sundays.
Be safe this weekend and tomorrow everyone, lotsa a drunkies on Memorial Day and Memorial Day Weekend.
Yea what he said! Be safe everyone!! 🫡🇺🇸🌭
I go for a ride on this road to help my stress! Love your video to much!
Another amazing video as usual brother! Would you be willing to publish your music playlist? The stuff you played in this one is perfect!
But then, I also have about 150 liters of lockable luggage space.
cheers from Kent Island!
I'm about to make this into a weekend trip this fall!
Kind of forget how much cool stuff there is in my own home state to see.
Hey ya from Catonsville :) My jam is west into the mountains but thats a pretty cool ride you did there 👍
Well hey man, no way!
I just wanted to say thanks for the video. I don’t have a bike, but my girl and I drove through the area because of this
Really happy you got out riding again love these style videos from ya.
"You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a physiatrists office." Great ride man. I'm heading to the wye river in Sept for some serious crabbing, Eastern shore is Maryland's secret paradise!
From one Burch to another --- nice video!
Awesome video dude. I will definitely be going there soon
Ok.. randomly came across this channel. RUclips doing its job?.. maybe.. but I wanted to say I love it man. Also a Marylander that loves traveling and reading those road signs. Also… my lucky number 23 part of the reason why my sons name, Jordan.. going to have to take a trip to check this place out.
I drive down here for a sunset. Great drive.
That church just sold too. its nice and quiet out that way
Just found this channel so I don't know if you've already been, but if not, now you have to head down to the Deal Island WMA and camp for an evening or two.
Except the bridge traffic coming home 😖
It reminded me a lot of Deal island.
Thanks for this great vid. I found this route scouring at a map looking for a fun trip with my Gladiator. Haven’t done it yet so this was a great preview. Hoping I can just pull off and pop up my RTT for the night. 🤙
