Thank you for this video! I tried to follow these steps, but I'm facing a weird issue. My case has 6 fans + an AIO 360 liquid cooling with 3 fans. On the Hardware Monitor dashboard, when I try to set a fan-curve for the CPU fan, nothing changes and the RPM remains constant (around 3100 RPM). When I change the "PUMP" fan curve, it affects "all" the fans (6 fans + 3 fans on the liquid cooler). And when I try to change "System 1" fan curve (the only system fan that shows a number), the RPM number does change, but I don't see any changes in any of the fans. This was a pre-built system and when it came out of the box, all the fans were set to run at full blast all the time, and it was extremely loud, so I was looking for ways to adjust the fan curves. I would truly appreciate any advice you might have. Thank you.🙏

Hello Mike, I bought the "MSI MODERN AM242P 12M i7-1260P" model Allinone. There is no section called "User Scenario" in MSI Center. That's why I can't adjust fan settings. Is there any other way to solve this problem? Or should we wait for a new update or use an old version? Thanks
if the software is not available in the MSI center that means it is not compatible with the motherboard, but bear in mind you have to add user scenario as a feature from the list of available modules, it isn't installed as a default
I have the thermalright peerless assassin 120 se Argb, and have the 7800x3d ! Any fan curve settings ? I currently am idling around 41-42 ! Is that good or should be lower?
Are MSI center balanced option and smart fan curve in bios good enough? It seems that my coolers are working even when the computer is idle, with really cold air coming from them. I have 6 coolers + 2 for CPU. I am a bit afraid to experiment in the bios as a total beginner....

I noticed you mentioned Dragon Centre on another vid, after I had installed MSI centre, MSI centre was awful, from false positive virus alerts on download & this was a new this week version from MSI not MS Store, the mystic light software was glitchy and nothing else would install via the "app" part, Uninstalled and cleared my reg of MSI Centre. So I remembered "Dragon" & went hunting, it's much better software & being a new build & new to Argb firmware I nearly did the firmware update thinking my firmware was out of whack - Maybe a PSA on this topic or thoughts on each bit of software?✌
@@mikesunboxing I agree, however the MSI forum, as I noted that all "Features" in the MS store version would download but "installed fail" at every attempt. Hey Mike, this might sound like a stupid question, but are your case fans supposed to ramp up in speed when your CPU is under load? I just ran a cinebench multicore test and used HWinfo to monitor fan speeds, but didn't notice my case fans actually spinning any faster. My CPU temps were well under control, so I believe my CPU cooler fans were spinning faster, it's just the rest weren't. Is this normal PWM fan behaviour? I have them configured much like the video where they are supposed to ramp up according to CPU sensors.

Super late reply, but I was wondering about one thing. Will the bios understand and identify the cpu fans/pump fans by themselves? I recently got a AIO, which, as in your example, has CPU FAN and PUMP FAN seperate. I think I plugged the cooler you put on top of the CPU itself (is that maybe called the pump? which would be weird, no?) into the CPU header on the mobo, but obviously the other 2 (using a AIO with 2 fans at the top, so 240) didn't have a CPU header in the mobo to plug in to. Does it matter which one of the other free fan headers I plug them in? Should I replug all of the fans to make them be in the "right" space? Like, is it correct with having the cooler itself (the physical one) that you put on the CPU into the "CPU" header on to mobo as I expected? Reason I'm asking cus I feel like my fans are being a little....aggressive. PC is idling at 30 celsius, and doesn't go much higher when playing. But even whilst idling you can hear the fans. But then I see you, and some others, recommend to have pumps at 100% or close to, which makes sense. But when I try to install a program called "FanControl" I found out that there is also one of the SysFans that are noisy, which is weird :P
Hiya, so I'm using the Lian Li Galahad AIO, I have set the speed to 100% at all times within MSI Center, however every now and then the stats of the CPU and the pump freeze and stop reading, when this happens I also lose control of the pump speed and the pump seems to run at the RPM set within BIOS. I think this is causing my pump to cut out as you stated in the video, as when my CPU temp gets to around 36c the RPM drops to 0, then as the CPU temp heats up again it kicks back in. Again none of this is showing is MSI Center I'm currently having to use NZXT CAM to give me readings. Anyone know why MSI Center is bugging out on me like this? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
set the pump speed to 100% in the bios and see what happens. if the fan control is getting issues in windows and reverting to BIOS settings that should help
When I put it on a Core CPU the fans are very noisy, if I put it on another option like Chipset, will it make a lot of difference to the processor temperature?

I personally wish companies would get off their high horse 🐎 and realise creating proprietary connectors is stupid and wasteful (cough* apple connectors)🤣😂😅 forcing you to choose a rgb/fan hub with particular company fans is a bugbear for many. I personally don’t use rgb fans (although a couple rgb light bars I don’t mind) and try to eliminate any unnecessary cabling in my builds
If you never change the connector you risk being held back by old connections “because of connecability” Considering its a plastic mould that houses cables in most cases… you could have proprietary connectors on everything… the only issue being a hassle to the user. I am pissed oof that i cant use Corsair fans with my MSI build.. i spent £300 on fans only for them to be incompatible out the box.. But all i had to do was get other ones.. When i rebuilt the mac i have owned.. i search parts buy parts & parts fit & work.. no RGB no BS.. so for all the proprietary connectors they make no problems during the build. The issue comes when you want to use previous models parts in a later one. Again no big deal.
Thanks. Seems to be doing its job as intended maintaining 30c at Idle and around 50c playing Fortnite. I guess if it starts whining at me I'll be worried lol

try loosening the fans and even the radiator, when they are too tight the rubber can't isolate the frequency and you get reverb
@@mikesunboxing I will try this
Hi Mike great video just what I was looking for but I’m still not sure what I should be setting the fan curves to. At the moment I’m pretty sure they are all set at full speed or mostly DC as fans are noisy the moment I switch it on.
I’ve just built my first PC which is:
MSi x670e
AMD 7800x3d
Artic freezer III 360
4070 Ti super
1x p14 Pwm pst rear case fan (exhaust)
2xP14 Pwm pst bottom case fans (intake)
Lian -Li 216X Lancool case
you can set the fan curves to the ones i often use 20% at 20c 40% at 40c 60% at 60c and 100% at 70c and that should be reasonably quiet, but also get loud when the CPU is under load
@@mikesunboxing great thanks Mike. Will it be ok to set all fans at those settings?
Hey just got a 5800x3d with a deepcool Castle 280ex and a MSI mpg edge wifi I'm quite new to building putting everything together everything went pretty good but the fans on that AIO sound like a Corvette going down the highway when the CPU gets to 60° it's like it's other than that the CPU stays at 30 at idle any knowledge with that CPU and AIO

if you are using a hub that will show as a single fan regardless of how many fans are plugged into it.

If I have Thermaltake AIO, do I wire the Pump and Fan to the ASUS motherboard or to the Thermaltake Controller on SWANFAN fan and control them on the RGB Plus software?
it will depend on the Aio, but most are ARGB Sync which means they go to the motherboard ports. the RGB ones have the different connector for use with the hub. if you get stuck join the discord and we can try and go through it
@mikesunboxing If l connect to the moto, can l still control the Light from RGB software? Or do l need to replace the fan with RGB ones? I am getting this next week for first time computer builder.
so what is the best setup for exoust fan mode? would be fine smiliar like the CPU fan curve ?
yes really, it depends on your setup and noise levels, but the principle is the same for intake or exhaust really

they can be if you want it like that
Hey what ram are u using ? I have to msi tomahawk x760e and fury ram compatible for Intel and amd but in bios showing only A XMP profiles. Should I use specific for amd made ram with expo option in bios?
expo is for AMD motherboards and processor, XMP is for intel

Is that good or should be lower?
sounds about right, most am5 with tower or aio will be high thirties low fourties
Are MSI center balanced option and smart fan curve in bios good enough? It seems that my coolers are working even when the computer is idle, with really cold air coming from them. I have 6 coolers + 2 for CPU. I am a bit afraid to experiment in the bios as a total beginner....

Hi mate do you use AI frozer i don't understand what it actually does?
avoid it, it is awful
@@mikesunboxing yeah i thought that might be the consensus. Are you using afterburner to control gpu fans?
I noticed you mentioned Dragon Centre on another vid, after I had installed MSI centre, MSI centre was awful, from false positive virus alerts on download & this was a new this week version from MSI not MS Store, the mystic light software was glitchy and nothing else would install via the "app" part, Uninstalled and cleared my reg of MSI Centre. So I remembered "Dragon" & went hunting, it's much better software & being a new build & new to Argb firmware I nearly did the firmware update thinking my firmware was out of whack - Maybe a PSA on this topic or thoughts on each bit of software?✌
there is a virus version of msi center, but the official one from the microsoft store is 100% legit, but i will have a look and maybe a PSA
@@mikesunboxing I agree, however the MSI forum, as I noted that all "Features" in the MS store version would download but "installed fail" at every attempt. Then I found the forum and found MSI centre on the MSI support pages, however that virus/glitched with Mystic Lights and wouldn't install the "User Scenarios" hence the wipe, Dragon seems to be stable for me and your tutorial also translated to dragon for me - Kudos - Have a look at the forum I don't want to post links on YT you might not see em.
Hello,
i'm new to these things and got a AIO cooler from Cooler Master (Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 Atmos ARGB ) I have a old motherboard b450 M and only got 1 CPU_FAN port and 2 CHA_FAN Ports.
I have 1 exit fan in the CHA_FAN
And got the front 3 fans in the other CHA_FAN port
The AIO Cooler has like 3 connectors that supposed to go in the fan ports.
Do you recommend that i get a 3 to 1 CPU Splitter to connect the AIO to the CPU_FAN port?
i'm a bit lost what to do now...
answered in the other comment
is it ok to plug 3pin on a 4pin cpu fan header on mobo? and i have a corsair icue h115i aio
3 pin should really go to the aio pump header if you can
Hi Short Question i Have an Arctic Liquid Freezer 360 A-RGB the thing is The Pump, Fans and the Little fan on the AIO are all connected on one Cable so they´re on the connected on the Pump_Fan1 on my Board now i dont know if i should let it Stay on the Max or if i should turn on Smart Fan Mode cause i´m not sure if this is Good for the Pump if i turn it on.
Also teh Problem is thet the Fans are a bit Loud like Pulsing cause the RPM are changingn evertime so maybe you can Help me should i turn Smart Fan mode on or off ?
the single PWM plug should be on the CPU header so it can regulate speed based on the CPU changes. set to smart fan and something like 20% at 20c 40% at 40c 60% at 60c and 100% at 70c
Maybe I should have msi center a second look if that prevent me to setup my fans in bios every time I update it... 🤔
i really like it, pretty low overhead and all the tools you need
Does MSI Center have to be running if I'm using it to control fan speed? Or does it change the system settings for me, after which I can close it?
yes you can minimise the msi center to the task bar
Hey Mike, this might sound like a stupid question, but are your case fans supposed to ramp up in speed when your CPU is under load?
I just ran a cinebench multicore test and used HWinfo to monitor fan speeds, but didn't notice my case fans actually spinning any faster. My CPU temps were well under control, so I believe my CPU cooler fans were spinning faster, it's just the rest weren't.
Is this normal PWM fan behaviour? I have them configured much like the video where they are supposed to ramp up according to CPU sensors.
Yes they should based on cpu temp usually
How did you get to the hardware monitor?
It is on the front page on the left side in easy mode and in advanced it is on the right in the middle
Hi Mike! I put my Pc on sleep mode with an MSI motherboard and Lian Li Cool 216 RGB case which has 2 160mm in the front. After I turned my Pc on again the top front fan doesn't spin anymore. How can I fix this? Thank you!
you might have the fan RPM set too low ? worth checking
But if we keep the pump at 100% all the time it can cause pump failure right? It happened with me with my arctic liquid freezer 360
pumps fail for many reasons, some prefer the constant load some don't but they should all be able to run 100% all the time or they are not fit for purpose
Looking forward to a similar video for asrock b650 boards 🙃
Coming soon!
@@mikesunboxing thanks bro ☺️
Can more control segments be added?
no sorry
my cpu1 header show 0rpm, what could be the case? i have a cable splitter connected and to it but i'm scared of changing the setup.
try switching between dc and pwm, or it could be the splitter not being fully wired on each pin or just a loose connection

I connected my pump to cpu_fan and the radiator to the pump, is there a problem? Or should i reverse
yeah reverse it pump should be on the AIO header
Thank You
You're welcome
But when I try to install a program called "FanControl" I found out that there is also one of the SysFans that are noisy, which is weird :P
the fan headers are pretty dumb so you need to tell the board exactly what is connected and what you want the headers to do
@@mikesunboxing Got ya, thanks for the answer. I'll tinkle some more with it ! :P
When I put it on a Core CPU the fans are very noisy, if I put it on another option like Chipset, will it make a lot of difference to the processor temperature?
yes because it won't be monitoring the CPU temps. the cpu fan should always to monitoring the CPU to regulate the temps
@@mikesunboxing my processor is a ryzen 5 5600gt and it heats up too much in games between 70 and 80 degrees, monitoring the CPU the fans stay at 100 percent all the time

Hi, Mike. As I've said before, I like to set my fans and pump running at 100%. I tried MSI center and didn't like it because it tried to takeover everything on my motherboard. The only RGB software I use is OpenRGB.
yeah it isn't for everyone, but for beginners or those with limited knowledge it is pretty easy to use
It’s possible that this causes BSOD?
if you set the fans or pump speeds to low it could overheat and caused BSOD i guess
Is there a way to base your Case Fans on your GPU temp?
yes you can use speedfan to control fans and it will monitor whatever you like, also you can select in the bios what the fan headers monitor
I have generic mobo can i do this??

there should be similar settings available in the bios

I personally wish companies would get off their high horse 🐎 and realise creating proprietary connectors is stupid and wasteful (cough* apple connectors)🤣😂😅 forcing you to choose a rgb/fan hub with particular company fans is a bugbear for many. I personally don’t use rgb fans (although a couple rgb light bars I don’t mind) and try to eliminate any unnecessary cabling in my builds
yeah i agree totally
If you never change the connector you risk being held back by old connections “because of connecability”
Considering its a plastic mould that houses cables in most cases… you could have proprietary connectors on everything… the only issue being a hassle to the user.
My pump fan won't change for AIO. Just stays around 5400 rpm no matter what I do.
might need to change the header type in the bios, although some pumps are fixed rpm
