I have that manifold, my Egr is deactivated and I only use Quantum long life lll oil in my van…. It’s done 189000 miles and going strong! I get 45-50 mpg on a long run and 36-40 around a hilly town, I really believe the oil in it makes a big difference!!
I just put mine on the other day and there is a slight improvement in low end spool and torque but it is certainly subtle. I don’t notice much of a difference at the high end.
Aaron Garcia what type of mods do you have? The more mods you have that can be complimented together give you the best results. I already had several mods by the time I swap intake manifolds with a tune.
I have the 1.9 ATD engine with this shitty square manifold. I’m replacing it with the BXE 105 manifold. It too has separate runners like the ARL/ASZ one. It has a shorter neck but I’m deleting egr anyway.
Gains won't be very significant. Malone flow tested these for comparison and the flow disparity between inside and outside cylinders is actually very close at higher CFM.
Aaron Garcia which only takes place when connected to a vnt turbo which has such high vacuum velocity. The machine that flow tested was overall how much air it can flow but turbulent air flow only takes place when the turbo is connected to have true characteristics. Best manifold design you can put on any car is making the manifold runners longer and equal.
enikolayev any 4 cylinder fires 1 and 4 same time and then 2 and 3 after. 2 and 3 intake runners are the shortest and straightest path which is why when bolted on the tdi head it flows differently compared to the flow test post Malone did.
They are definitely not the same. Pd150 intake flange on left side and pd130 on right. If you have an American tdi you want the pd150 unless you reroute your intercooler system.
Yes they are if you are talking about the Mk4 Golf manifold Whitch is facing the timing side, whilst the PD130 Passat manifold is facing the transmission side.
So in theory if you were to use either one of those manifolds- After they have been Cleaned out completely with the EGR blocked off or even deleted they should stay completely clean!!! what are your thoughts? thx
@@DustinNehl no, but i heard you can block the vacuum line that actuates the egr valve. Also idk if that keeps the intake “completely “ clean as you may have some kind of oil residues from the pcv systems make it through over time
You could achieve better mpg from a egr delete but will require a few other modifications. Deleting egr on tdi bypasses the egr cooler which is great for helping the tdi warm up in winter in theory but deleting it and bypassing the egr cooler will give you substantial lower EGT temps. I have used big nozzles on a alh .216 and it soot very much but if you kept your foot out of it I still got 50mpg Highway all day. Let the engine breathe and for sure get a good ecu tune up and you got the best of both worlds. I will say it’s very minimal benefits for mpg increase but it all depends on how your roads are. I live at high altitudes so I still get 49-50mpg doing speed limit. If your actually wanting to gain best mpg then spend your money on a good suspension kit and aerodynamic mods - belly pans, and fabricated covers front mid and rear underneath the car to help.
quote "It's designed to build up soot" kind of a stupid statement. It could be that the reason the PD intakes are different is because they realized the error of their previous design.

Cleaning my stock intake was an absolute nightmare.
If you've got an EGR delete, then why is there soot buildup on the air intake manifold??
Awesome video
You are the best

Flow amount is one thing, flow turbulence is another factor however.

Do you know maybe... intake manifold from pd130 is the same as pd150?
RevoTph i thought that too

Yes
@@heyyeww Do you have any experience with blocking off the egr or deleting it and gaining fuel mileage?

hmmm- yes I've heard as well

Unless you find one from a junk yard just spend the money on darksides custom intake manifold.

Does the racepipe from that ALH fit on the pd150 as well or do I need to buy a special one for it?
To install the pd150 intake manifold you need the pd150 race pipe it has bigger diameter then stock.
hum it's been 5 years but next time try to use sandblast to clean the inside easely ;)
Camera jolt action. Un-watchable.
