  • In this video I show you how to fix a leaking RC shock. The shock I use to demonstrate the procedure is a ZD Racing branded shock, however the information in this video will be useful for most oil filled RC Shocks.

Another way that worked on my cheap al shocks that were leaking like crazy, was to use a 3rd old o ring I had (I had no shims on hand). This nicely preloaded the original pack of 2 o rings. Since it was an old and flattened o ring, no additional friction was created. They are holding up great.

Nice video. I used green slime on the o-rings. I have a bunch of these shocks. Got a few gripes. I keep breaking lower rodends; they are often drilled crooked/too-far from the factory so they are weak. Maybe a traxxass shock rod-end can fit? I've also had the plastic piston get pushed over the nut; I will add a washer on that side next time too.

    Great video.
I bought a set of the zd racing shocks. They do look quite good as you say. Im fitting them onto a HSP 1/8 scale buggy.
I was wondering what oil weight to use and i think the 40w is a good starting point. 👍

What oil was in your shocks? I received mine from AliExpress and they are filled with a mineral / petroleum type oil that has ruined the shock cap bladders.
