Pretty good one again! Now we have enable pawn rotation toggles, first person games it isn’t imperative to attach the camera anymore. Will also break some cutscenes but most times you won’t notice the difference. Getting meshes straight from the pawns’ components works but inherits all the animations from the arms. So can feel floaty. This is what we started doing early on. Don’t recommend this at all unless you have a game like WH40k boltgun where attaching to the first person render pane won’t ever have complex animations tied to them from physical meshes. In my tutorial I recommend to use a “property” of the pawns. Find them below the components. Always read all of these first before starting. Good ones tend to be very obvious. In trepang2 there is an equipped weapon property, which has its own components like the pawn, within you’ll find a gun mesh. This is normally a better solution as they don’t inherit the animations of the whole body. It also helps propagate to every weapon you pick up. Which is why the shotgun felt off to you. Still a great video and very easy to follow. People will hopefully eventually find the information about properties eventually 😅 The profile which attaches to the equipped property is what is saved in the drive right now. I just finished the intro mission of Trepang2 in VR for the first time and I gotta say, it feels like the game was made for VR. What praydog's injector is going to do for the VR gaming scene is crazy. I can't wait to see what configs people make for other games in the future.
One thing for everyone to keep in mind, this isn't necessarily as "scary" or complicated as it may look here. This video is for those who want to tinker or don't want to wait for someone else to release a config file. There's an easy way to generate configs and share them, which is why when UEVR first publicly released you kept seeing the same games being demoed over and over again, because those were the ones that already had full configs ready to go. As the tool matures and more people jump on it, there's a very good chance you'll just have to open a config someone else has dialed in and apply it to your game. Either way this is an easy to follow guide for those games that don't have a config ready yet, so thank you for making it!
Really good tutorial. I've watched maybe a dozen so far and most do a passable job but don't go the extra step of providing helpful graphics and, most importantly, rush through things rather than taking their time to let steps sink in. Excellent content as always, Beardo.
Thanks for the great content especially Flat to 2D. Hoping these UE4 games get optimized for VR: Outer Worlds, Days Gone, Borderlands 3, Terminator Resistance, Tiny Tina's W.. I wanted an RPG Open World and recent upgraded reviews on Steam lead me to the 'furry WItcher 3' and I bought BioMutant!

Ben, Thank you so much for this! I'm pretty simple when it comes to any modding, but this was easy to follow and now I've managed to set up a flat screen horror UE5 game to play in VR 😱 Wish me luck...
This is insane. I hope this pushes developers to add these VR options to their games going forward. To go one further developers should incorporate a VR arm model as well so that we can have a moveable arm mesh for motion controllers. A relatively easy addition to a game that provides an entirely different gaming experience, I'd call that worth it for the development budget. This shows in theory how relatively easy it is to take normal games and make them VR, not some insane redesign of a game from the ground up. - Sure some games are more suited than others to be VR, but this is very exciting indeed. At the bare minimum if this shows devs how their games will be modded at least, they can avoid some of the classic jank with meshes and clashing that happens when developers only ever expect there to be a fixed FPS FOV camera.

I select the game or demo I have open from the UEVR list, select openXR, and inject. Audio comes through, but no video. I'm using a quest 3. Could use a little help 😬

I remember playing Squad (eu4) on my DK2 as those devs left their vr plugins active. Myself and a few others posted in their forums about how great this was and the devs promptly removed it. :( Anyway, Squad in VR was a fantastic and frightenting experience. According to the compatibility it works "perfectly." I look forward to testing this out.
Very good video. Hopefully you'll be able to make a video to rundown ways to allow the computer to play games without turning into a puddle of plastic. Virtual Desktop settings for CAS or Open Composite upscaling. OpenXR toolkit for foveated rendering and NIS or FSR upscaling. Turning on DLSS. Etc. On top of that, setting world scale for and using the camera preset (and key binding).

Sir beardo! i have finally gotten a quest 2.. and using this a as a tutorial.. i am starting to tinker with the killing antidote playtest. its an awesome flatscreen game that only 2 devs are working on.. i hope you give it a try - they really deserve some exposure. issues im having so far is the buttons in the menu. (the controls work somewhat but its cumbersome as well as some menus u definitely have to use ESC to get out. and although playable.. i need to setup hopefully a camera toggle for FPS mode. wish me luck in tinkering!
Love it! Another great vid! Great invention, kudos to ALL involved in its inception, and conception! 1 question tho...can the crosshair be removed? It was throwing me way off lol...
Thanks for this. I tried GTA SA but I didn't know about the advanced controls, I managed to get 1st person view but it came from a config file. This is the technical detail I wanted to know about.
I have been experimenting for a while with the tool, and I never knew that the Quest 3's thumbrest had any input whatsoever. Knowing that, I now know the bug I was having (Activating the D Pad) for Aliens Fireteam Elite So thank you for that lol, I didn't realize that part of the controller was a sensor The only thing I'm unsure about is if it is possible to remove solely the crosshair in games. It hasn't lined up for me once during any situation regarding setting up the firearms to the controller. Some games also have a class branch of "Children" and "Weapons" which allow you to universally save entire states for the guns. At least, Alien Fireteam Elite does. IE, no save stating every weapon since they all are at once
In Unreal your player character and/or what ever you are controlling in the game is called "Pawn" and it's the BP_Pawn actor that your character/vehicle is built on in unreal engine. *(The Pawn is the physical representation of a player within the world)* So i guess that the acknowledged pawn is the possessed pawn that is the active player controller with a pawn at the time you attach to it. (i think it could be a spectator camera if your player controller is not set to the actual game character pawn at the time you attach, but rather the spectator pawn and spectator controller) Your BP_Pawn class needs to auto receive input from player 0 (You as the client playing on your PC), and not the controller. A unique player controller is created with each new pawn, so the player controller is dependent on the pawn/character. Is some cases it can be good to wait until you are in the game and have possessed the actual player pawn before you hook in to the camera and controllers..... When it comes to the skeletal meshes, some games don't use a skeletal mesh for the weapons. But the arms are skeletal meshes. So the hand_l and hand_r has bones that the weapons are attached to. So i wonder if the plugin could inject to bones so it's possible to just control the bone(s) that the weapon is attached to :) It would be so cool if this plugin also would let us grab the source code for the player character and controller on day to modify in unreal engine. That way we could add custom interaction to grab and reload, so we can turn the games into real VR shooters
You should be able to attach both hands to objects for 2 handed guns. Also it would be nice to save a separate hand attachment system for each weapon type.
"Also it would be nice to save a separate hand attachment system for each weapon type." Read the comment from Waifu_enjoyer, part of the Praydogs testing team, and you'll have your answer ;)
hi can anyone help please? i have the quest 3 but when i inject to vr i cant move at all with the motion controls, i can just look around. im loading a profile that is supposed to work but nothing is happening. any advise?
Oh man, I wonder if devs will make their own profiles for this mod? That would be awesome. Or if other games that don't currently work with it if those devs will tweak things so their game will work with it. This is what VR needs, more games. If there are mods like this that can make more games VR games without extra work from the devs everyone is happy. We get VR games and devs don't need to spend hours making their games work with VR!
at 16:12, i have a problem. When i am adjusting the gun as he is here, i notice the blue box is aimed about 45 degrees towards the sky relative to my actual controller and in game gun. explaining it a different way: if i were to match up the grip of the in game pistol to the grip of my physical quest pro controller at a comfortable 1 to 1 angle, the big blue box is aimed 45 degrees towards the sky. Also the bullets come out of the gun, make that 45 degree turn and shoot off into the sky. its as if the adjustment box itself is misaligned with my physical controller. is there a way to adjust the blue box in relation to the physical controller? EDIT: yes i have set the input to the relevent controller. (i have tried both right and left hand. the issue persists on both.) Reply

He said that its only visible in the capture
Thanks did you upload the profile.
This Mod changed my Life :D
definitely got this bookmarked - guess i know what i'm doing after work - thank you!
I remember playing Squad (eu4) on my DK2 as those devs left their vr plugins active. Myself and a few others posted in their forums about how great this was and the devs promptly removed it. :( Anyway, Squad in VR was a fantastic and frightenting experience. According to the compatibility it works "perfectly."
I look forward to testing this out.
are you getting this to work with wireless or do you need a cable connection cause unless I use an app like virtual desktop steam wont find my Q3
Turning into a puddle of plastic meaning your PC is running too hot? Depends on your case and GPU, my card has no issues and doesn't get too hot
Just amazing - I know what I'm doing this weekend - revisiting games and downloading Atomic Heart. Thanks again for the great content, huge fan. I think you nailed it - in that, this mod could drive and motivate all game developers to AAA, knowing they could cross-platform sales between flat screen and VR. Wouldn't surprised if Epic acquires them.
Best instructions out there Beardo! Thank you for your efforts mate!
Subbed and will try this guide tonight. Thank you for your detailed explanation good sir!
great video. please make further of these tutorial type videos.
That's one fancy smartass bit of software! 10/10!
Great!! Thanks Beardo Benjo. Please bring more examples like this one.
I subbed simply because your video guide is the best.
"Ackowledge porn"
*ears stands up
Thanks so much for this!!!! Are you going to do a video on changing between third person and first person?
Let me explain this, with the most violant gorey game, here you go! haha! Great clear guide! Love how you have the same humor! Makes watching so much more enjoyable.
This is what I have been looking for ,,, Thank you Ben ,,, GREAT VIDEO
It doesnt even allow me to download it, says its a severe trojan risk with some backend.dll something or other. whats the deal with that? not willing to completely disable my antivirus to dl this github thing.
How is the Quest connected to the PC? SteamVR or the meta app thingie?
whenever i try to download it, it says theres a virus in it and it wont let me dowload it. it shows me that theres a severe trojan in the file. how has no one else caught this, is it even right, and how to i get around it.
Sir beardo! i have finally gotten a quest 2..
and using this a as a tutorial.. i am starting to tinker with the killing antidote playtest.
its an awesome flatscreen game that only 2 devs are working on.. i hope you give it a try - they really deserve some exposure.
issues im having so far is the buttons in the menu. (the controls work somewhat but its cumbersome as well as some menus u definitely have to use ESC to get out.
and although playable.. i need to setup hopefully a camera toggle for FPS mode.
wish me luck in tinkering!
As others have said, it would be sick if people started building lil config files for each game in a community repo
Love it! Another great vid! Great invention, kudos to ALL involved in its inception, and conception! 1 question tho...can the crosshair be removed? It was throwing me way off lol...
You made this incredibly easy can’t wait to do this with my vive pro 2 !:-)
Very cool. Would be even better if dual wield work separately for both hands too, which I assume it would not, gonna try it later.
Extremely useful video and very well presented!
Awesome video Ben! Thank you so much!
Thanks for this. I tried GTA SA but I didn't know about the advanced controls, I managed to get 1st person view but it came from a config file. This is the technical detail I wanted to know about.
Best and most concise tutorial I’ve seen for uevr. Well done Beardo 🎉👏👏👏👏
Thanks Beardo and thanks Praydog, I would like to kiss his face.
I have been experimenting for a while with the tool, and I never knew that the Quest 3's thumbrest had any input whatsoever.
Knowing that, I now know the bug I was having (Activating the D Pad) for Aliens Fireteam Elite
So thank you for that lol, I didn't realize that part of the controller was a sensor
The only thing I'm unsure about is if it is possible to remove solely the crosshair in games.
I and many others consider myself an idiot. This guide was made for me!
Really appreciate you making this vid.
Can't wait to mod "Ultimate Hunting"
In Unreal your player character and/or what ever you are controlling in the game is called "Pawn" and it's the BP_Pawn actor that your character/vehicle is built on in unreal engine.
*(The Pawn is the physical representation of a player within the world)*
So i guess that the acknowledged pawn is the possessed pawn that is the active player controller with a pawn at the time you attach to it.
(i think it could be a spectator camera if your player controller is not set to the actual game character pawn at the time you attach, but rather the spectator pawn and spectator controller)
Your BP_Pawn class needs to auto receive input from player 0 (You as the client playing on your PC), and not the controller.
So i wonder if the plugin could inject to bones so it's possible to just control the bone(s) that the weapon is attached to :)
It would be so cool if this plugin also would let us grab the source code for the player character and controller on day to modify in unreal engine. That way we could add custom interaction to grab and reload, so we can turn the games into real VR shooters
Praydog is an absolute madman
You think this mod will ever work for older Unreal games? (Bioshock)
Man, this would be sick for Motor Town: Behind the Wheel! I wonder if I can get it functioning there...
Thank you for this video! For some reason my thumbrest + left didnt work for d-pad shift. Ill try left controller… didnt notice that can be changed.
You should be able to attach both hands to objects for 2 handed guns. Also it would be nice to save a separate hand attachment system for each weapon type.
"Also it would be nice to save a separate hand attachment system for each weapon type."
Read the comment from Waifu_enjoyer, part of the Praydogs testing team, and you'll have your answer ;)
hi can anyone help please? i have the quest 3 but when i inject to vr i cant move at all with the motion controls, i can just look around. im loading a profile that is supposed to work but nothing is happening. any advise?
Amazing comprehensive guide
My Kaspersky antivirus keeps deleting the UEVRBackend.dll , stating that it's trojanware? Is this a point of concern?
This was very very helpful. Thanks for that 👍
Oh man, I wonder if devs will make their own profiles for this mod?
(i have tried both right and left hand. the issue persists on both.)

Wow this is insane, thanks for the video beardy bro, be trying to get to grips with this today, amen men to the prey dog
Looks neat but nothing ever shows up under inject, run as admin and tried everything i could find support wise but no games or any apps ever show to inject. Redownloaded a few versions over the months and still the same thing. Trying to find support is insane too, please stop using Discord as your wiki/support hubs, it's virtually useless.
