  • Cars.com’s editors recently pitted the refreshed 2024 Kia Seltos against five other affordable small SUVs in a direct comparison to thoroughly review the Seltos against the latest and greatest competition in its class. Managing Editor Joe Bruzek, News Editor Jennifer Geiger and Road Test Editor Brian Normile take you through all the ins and outs of what we like about the new Seltos - and there’s a lot to like about it.
The Seltos gets top marks for interior quality and, despite its high price, boasts a lot of features others can’t match. The updated optional turbocharged engine remains a big hit with our editors, and Kia’s decision to ditch the previous model’s dual-clutch automatic transmission for a traditional eight-speed automatic is also praiseworthy.
There’s not a lot we don’t like about the Seltos, but it’s worth noting that the turbo engine does get comparatively poor fuel economy and the Seltos lacks some more common features (it still isn’t available with wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone connectivity, for example).

my 2024 KIA SEATO’s EX premium DOES have a heated steering wheel and I prefer the wired CarPlay as it’s much more stable. I bought a wireless dongle but not as stable connection ( tried a couple) also the wireless charging is useless very slow so on long trips you’re going to want to plug in anyway. It drives great very comfortable mine isn’t turbo but sport mode is just as fun. My mini had turbo and it feels similar to that tight driving in sport mode. It also has smart mode and normal mode as you didn’t mention.

This feels like a Seltos commercial. Seriously. Anyhow, I'd prefer a Buick Encore GX (Avenir) for the same sticker price as the Seltos

It’s been ranked best in class by 7 different journals now.
While Kia/Hyundai was ahead of the EPA game, and suffered as a result early, the 3.0 engine has been more reliable than Toyota, Chevy, Ford, and certainly Chrysler/ Buick (the worst engines on the market in 2024). Sorry in advance for the engine failures.
