Agreed. I love this show so much. I think the best scene is one later on incoming spoilers obviously. The best scene is when Red John saves him from the Red John copycats and taunts him before leaving.
The actor who played Tommy/Thomas was amazing! The whole performance was amazing! The complete 180 the character does once he realises Jane has seen through the act was done so smoothly
He actually likes that Jane sees him as game recognises game it's one thing to be beaten by your inferiors but to meet a master of the craft ? That's a true moment.
He was good good. Like, watching that scene gave me chills and goosebumps. He literally switched the moment his existence was recognized. It's scary when youbrealize there are people out there that actually are like this.
Frederick Koehler as Tommy deserved an Emmy for this one piece of astounding acting. His whole demeanor changed in one instant, one facial expression. Just amazing.
The facial expression as soon as he say, “I can see you” Thomas is just pure with the facial expression round of applause for him because that shit gave me goosebumps just to see him move from that challenged person in his face and then just come out to like “what do you want to know? “ 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
What makes the change so chilling isn't the facial expressions which are really good but aren't that hard to do but the innocence you see in his eyes to turn to just a cold, soulless, dark emptiness that sends shivers through your soul.
I've always loved his dynamic with Jane here at the end. Jane being somebody constantly seeking revenge for the loss of his wife and daughter and Thomas being somebody who achieved his revenge against those who murdered his friend. "Please spare me your moralizing! I know what revenge costs! It's worth it!" Such a good show man.
Not to mention the scene when Lisbon in anger confronts a rather crazy man when Jane was kiddnapped. Robin deserved and Emmy for that single scene in Season 7. And...when Jane beguns to cry in front of Kristina when she told him that she talks to his wife. Or when Grace has to kill the man she loves. Actings in The Mentalist are superb. It's very difficult to choose one or a hundred.
This makes me think of the scene on house when the woman was completely faking her emotions, because she was a psychopath. The switch over from fake to showing who she was was incredible.
I've seen a child do this. One moment he was all 'simple-minded-innocent-victim', the next moment he told me, 'No one is going to believe you. You are always going to suffer and they'll always love me. So you better stop trying and start accepting my power.' It's been like that since then.
As someone who considers himself "smart enough to play dumb" - in most situations anyways - there's nothing more terrifying than encountering someone so much smarter than you that they can see through it immediately lol
This episode, the chef ricin poisoning, the bosco murder episode, luxury car showroom murder, and the red john finale episode are my all-time favorites episodes from The Mentalist. I still rewatch them almost 12 years later.
My grandma put me onto the mentalist back when I was a teenager. God bless her, she was really cool. I got sick of watching 12 different csi shows because this was back when cable tv was a thing. There are seriously tons of shows like this that are completely overlooked because they peaked just shy of the streaming revolution
One of the best scenes of the series. Most cold blooded murderers brag about their acts, Jane simply wrings the truth out by acknowledging how he appreciates how smart the murderer was!
In this moment jane knew that revenge was worth it. Tommy just assured him when jane was looking for some assurance after having conversation with Lisbon.
i have searched everywhere for another show that is similar to this, but sadly there isnt, this show was just the best for me, "lie to me" was like the version 1.0 but this is top notch, kudos to the producers
I will admit, the "I can see you" line was cold af
Agreed.
I love this show so much. I think the best scene is one later on incoming spoilers obviously.
The best scene is when Red John saves him from the Red John copycats and taunts him before leaving.
That's why I've always especially loved the line/greeting from the Avatar (blue people) movie "I see you."
I'm glad you admitted this, ZiggerotsTask
Was afraid you weren't going to
@@perenpuree I'm unsure as to what could spawn such a fear but to your joy I am, too, glad that I admitted it.
No its so fkn retarded like you say some smooth stuff so he just 100% confesses
The actor who played Tommy/Thomas was amazing! The whole performance was amazing! The complete 180 the character does once he realises Jane has seen through the act was done so smoothly
😌🤚
Nah. If you can do the less smart character, doing a 180 isn't hard
I think I have seen hum in death race
@@georgezp7787 ok buddy
@George ZP Yeah, but the way he flips the switch with his eyes alone is rather chilling
the absolute control of his facial expressions is truly amazing
He actually likes that Jane sees him as game recognises game it's one thing to be beaten by your inferiors but to meet a master of the craft ? That's a true moment.
I LOVE the micro expressions that show the difference and level of control the character(and by proxy the actor) has. Magnificent

Hello
Then you are gonna hate me
@@chrismay2022 💀
Then you definitely have to see Fragmented
The change in facial expressions was 5000% lit . Amazing work of art
Thomas, what a dynamite actor. How his face changes, brilliant.
Amen! The way he held the look of “I’m stupid” and then just released it to a normal blank look was masterful!
Men ham bunga e'tibor qildim
Fixing your posture does that. Sudden turn of the head. Being aware of how your eyebrows are set to realign later. Yeah this dude is good.
The moment he changes is the single greatest acting I have ever seen
Yes! That eye change. You see it.
That kid did some great acting
Top 5 of the whole show
you know they did it when they sit back comfortably😂

Great scene by these two! The complete facial control, personality switch and the cold delivery are insane.
The guest actor is truly talented, the reveal, is spot on.

I completely agree with this comment 💯✔️

Mentalist
Or when he imagined seeing his daughter when he told her don't go always break my heart
That demeanour change *chef's kiss*
The first time I saw this scene I just realized what really good acting was. This guy is a master of his craft !
You can see the slight facial showing of respect that he figured it out. The actor who played Thomas was awesome
The soulless eyes with no light whatsoever and “I can see you Thomas.” And a switch was tripped.
One of the best episodes from this show
I love the question “are there two of you” ruling out multiple personality disorder. Love that as a physch nut
A psyche nut wouldn't call it multiple personality disorder...
@@michaelwerkov3438 right lol I came here to say that maybe he used to be a “physch nut” in the early 90s but clearly he has missed out on a bit 🤦♀️
But there isnt two of him. Thomas is an act. One he learned and master.
The way his facial muscles move somewhat in a ease, and how the mans posture lays back casually. Its scary how the mask was removed.
As soon as this short popped up I knew what scene this was, it was that good of a moment in the show, the dude can act
This was one of THE best episodes to show of a real mentalist xD
“I don’t understand what you’re saying sir. But I like wizards.”
Brilliant redirection. The last one he will ever play as Tommy.
Dude the way the look in his eyes changed when he did that complete 180 tho
And he pulls that smirk off oh so well!
This makes me think of the scene on house when the woman was completely faking her emotions, because she was a psychopath. The switch over from fake to showing who she was was incredible.
WHAT EPISODE WAS THAT
What a transformation ... Definitely Top 10 Series of all time

Best bad guy actor ever! I love watching him act he needs way more attention.
Perfect song with this scene

The way his eyes changed. It's all in the eyes, Chico.
This was absolutely nuts. Really good episode.
underrated show
Now thats acting. Dude switched like a boss.
Dude who played the mental case is legit! His whole face and demeanor changed!! Good job!!!
One of the coolest antagonists in the mentalist
That change in personality, very well done. Love this show
BRILLIANT ACTING!❤
As someone who considers himself "smart enough to play dumb" - in most situations anyways - there's nothing more terrifying than encountering someone so much smarter than you that they can see through it immediately lol
Try "smart enough to play crazy" sometimes. Smart people see crazy in themselves and are likely to believe it.
@@vrillionaire88 Hit the nail on the head with that one!
This guy is really good playing crazy. He did on criminal minds too
the way Jane smiles after that dude reveals himself
The vibes man that's good acting
Tommy killed that role ....I miss the Mentalist great show
If this gives you goosebumps. Then your a good hearted soul. You can’t imagine evil beyond what you have experienced.
That "hello" was hella funny, freaking loved this show. 😂😂😂
Thats one hell of an actor! 😮
such great actors! damn! the change 8n facial expressions in mere seconds
That guy plays evil characters so well.
I LOVE IT, literall chills, amazing acting and lisbon and rigsbys faces, make it even more real
The music intensifies the scene
One of the best shows ever
This scene 🔥🔥
Lord, literally chills. Their faces too
Such a great show. Cool fact: every episode title has something to do w/red since Jane’s main adversary is Red John
Not after he kills red John it stops
Jane's face when he says "I can see you." is pure aura. Like a "you play a good game, but I play too"
The guy did nothing to say nothing but did say everything with his mimics. Great acting!🎉
Holy shit the change in Tommy/Thomas's eyes
Jane saying "Good to meet you" was so good. Jane was like we are meeting for the first time with your other side.
the micro expressions on the actor who played Thomas when he goes from Tommy to Thomas 😮😮🤯👌
He was too good and I had guessed that he would be the bad guy from the start but this scene still gave me the chills.
I missed this show
Amazing transformation!
I miss this show man
"Please... I'm not a mental case!" Coldest fucking line I've ever heard!
That kinda "I see u" 💀❤️🔥
The transition from Act to self was perfect.
Amazing acting
I hadnt seen acting this good yet
The actor playing Thomas's skills are damn good❤
Dang Jane you really did it this time 😂
I'm rewatching this and damn this scene! Goosebumps
The change, in just his eyes!
this was really well done, the show is already a great watch but this little flip form the impaired kid to mastermind was a nice touch.

One of the best scenes of the series.

Even the way he annunciate / speak changed 😭
That was a dope edit
Good thing the script had him reveal himself in the interrogation room, where he knows people are watching.
I remember the first time I saw this scene. The actor shifting from his harmless to arrogant personality had a chilling effect
I loved this show.
I love this show! I'll try watching more of it 😊
Sad part is this happens alot. And the more you practice it, the better you get at it.
I loved this show. I think I'm due for a rewatch. ❤
He also scared me in criminal minds😮
Goosebumps 😬
His eyes lips cheeks all change the moment jane says i can see you is whole level of acting
In this moment jane knew that revenge was worth it. Tommy just assured him when jane was looking for some assurance after having conversation with Lisbon.
That change in facial expression 👍
This show was so awsome to watch a genius do this and see through everything and everyone except red john
Simon Baker is such a good actor. Why do we not see more of him!?
