Don’t care what the haters say. This is a scorcher. Unreal arrangement. Vocals are so good. Backing vocals. Musicianship is off the charts from the band.
Nope. Sorry. No musician ever would agree with you. This is a bone headed, simple tune that is no different than a million other pop songs. Pure drivel.
His solo career speaks for itself David Lee Roth is a God of this music business, Roths talent is absolutely unbelievable plus the mega 6 albums of Vanhalen under his belt
Skyscraper was definitely more pop but Eat 'em and Smile was typical Bluesy DLR. These 2 albums, to me, are better than anything Van Hagar ever put out.
Anyone here remember DLR’s ‘Good Times’ off of Skyscraper? Last song on Side A? Of course, that’s when Cassette tapes and CD’s were our main source for music 🤣 Point is, that song was and still is a masterpiece. It stood the test of time and still rocks 34 yaaaarZzzz later 😳 ↘️ ↙️ ruclips.net/video/8UshKQoQIog/видео.html
Saw EAS, SS & ALAE and met Vai years later, those tours were great. Was hoping to see Jason Becker but unfortunately never got to. Love DLR. RIP MIGHTY EVH.
News Flash: Dave wasn't trying to resurrect a New VH in his solo stuff. He had so many great players with him over 5 albums, all dying to play with 'Roth. Why do you think that is? His solo stuff blew me away, his styles were so diverse, it took more skilled players to work with him. So , anyway..today my VH comp. tape for the car is Early Van Halen, DLR Solo Stuff, and A Different Kind of Truth, phenomenal album from 2012. Not ONE Hammy Sagar tune on the plate. Hammy was soft pop filler material, Dave was the real Deal. Raw and in your face. ;-)
I ALWAYS did ❤ hearing DAVID LEE ROTH . And I ❤ hearing this ROCK INFUSED SYNTHESIZER POP back in MY EARLIER TWENTIES . And I ALSO 💘 KEYBOARDS like EMULATOR !
I loved this when it came out back in the day...and I love it still all these years later. Dave took a turn from the EEAS album and tried something different. His vocals on this record are amazing, and the musicianship throughout is incredible. Two Fools a Minute is a highlight.
Dave lee Roth is he something are what he was on top of his craft my kids love this song they would fall on the ground then stand up /they keep saying now you do that dad i told them i was to old to do that wow songs can take you back in time
Man I truly miss this time and fab music like this!!! Our crew used get to the club early just to see all the clips including this one on the huge screen while loading up . Fun times. The gold has been swapped for a turd!!

Yeh, because this song IS high comedy. It sounds like some British synth-band with puffy pants, and just look at that step-child hairdo... The beginning of the end for Diamond Dave.
I truly believe Dave makes music with a more genuine point of view than Hagar. He lives it and then sings it, no matter what’s popular at the time or how it will sell. Compare that to Sammy, who’s a businessman. Everything is made according to how “successful” it will be. That’s why he had more number one albums than Dave but none of his music has stuck like Dave’s has. Especially Classic Can Halen. That’s transcendent, culture changing music.
Crazy how Dave didn't want keyboards for 1984, then released Skyscraper with keyboards all over the place. Also, Steve's playing is extraordinary here. RIP Edward.
Siempre mantuvo la escencia de Van Halen de sus primeros años por eso me cae bien la musica de David Lee Roth lo unico le faltó el acompañamiento de un guitarrista mas espectacular. .es mi punto de vista personal.
One of the very best front men in rock history! I was privileged to see him live with Van Halen. He lived up to all the stories I'd heard when he was with Eddie and company.
these early ibanez jems were the best guitars ibanez ever made.love to get my mits on one of these 777lng jems, still i got a 777vdy which i love to bits :) great great guitars
Two genius virtuosos in Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai. A real jewel. Not much footage on the bass player and can't tell whether or not it was Billy Sheehan. He must've been out or already started forming Mr Big.
Videos like these are no longer made in 2021. DLR was and is a hero. He made beautiful music videos with great-looking sexy ladies. These are the type of women that we all want to see in college and the workplace but are non-existent (and if one does exist then she is already married). It's like hands-off! She's taken, and married! I doubt it if these women who appear in this video are Catholic. September 10, 2021, Friday. USA Texas
Long live Diamond Dave! This is one of my go-to songs when I'm feelin a little down & need encouragement. I'm fortunate to have seen Dave 2x, once w/ Van Halen in '82 & once without. Steve Vai is one of rocks best guitarists, was great in Whitesnake & is great in this song. Guess that's why he's a multi-grammy winner!!!!
Steve Vai continues to sell out tours across the world either with his own band or with Satriani as G3. He owns his own record label. He is sponsored by Ibanez, Carvin and Morley. Anyone who knows anything about rock music has heard of Mr. Steve Vai.
Don’t care what the haters say. This is a scorcher. Unreal arrangement. Vocals are so good. Backing vocals. Musicianship is off the charts from the band.
LOL
In another life.....Dave dreamed of being a lounge act !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Nope. Sorry. No musician ever would agree with you.
This is a bone headed, simple tune that is no different than a million other pop songs. Pure drivel.
1000%, this whole album is way underrated
scorcher? Hardly. Exact opposite. Bland, lame, cheesy.
I hate 2023. I want to go back to the Spring of 1988 and just stay there
80's girls are the best girls.

I agree! Before instagram and tic tock ruined them all!
Ultra clean, mostly trimmed but even the natural ones were clean! Shaved was just hitting big. No tats on the clean girls and hardly any heifers.
Diamond Dave is full of tricks up his sleeve.... Gotta love this guy!!!
Extremely underrated song.
Will you millennials stop saying everything is "underrated"? The album that this song came from is anything but "underrated".
Its SONG, veri, veri gud!
The bass line in this song is phenomenal
No bass line is a synthesizer!
His solo career speaks for itself David Lee Roth is a God of this music business, Roths talent is absolutely unbelievable plus the mega 6 albums of Vanhalen under his belt
Dave's solo music from the later 80s is so underrated. He kept the same fun party vibe that Van Halen's music had, even if this is a little more pop.
+JPMcFly1985Two
Bullseye!
Underrated is the word.
Dave's few albums after VH are masterpieces. OK, most of them.
Skyscraper was definitely more pop but Eat 'em and Smile was typical Bluesy DLR.
These 2 albums, to me, are better than anything Van Hagar ever put out.
And the same party girls🏃🏼♀️ too!....
Absolutely and the hottest 80’s babes...nothing like them.
Anyone here remember DLR’s ‘Good Times’ off of Skyscraper? Last song on Side A? Of course, that’s when Cassette tapes and CD’s were our main source for music 🤣

Steve Vai, still making Long Island proud. Damn, I miss the '80s! ;7
Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen are my favorite guitarists of All Time
The brunette in the red top and dark blue miniskirt is the most underappreciated video vixen of the 1980s..
Rebecca Ferratii my man!
Probably a fella
With Diamond Dave you can't go wrong with a good time.Cheers !!
Gary Macrie 👍
The '80s was the greatest
DLR was brilliant!!! Always loved his stuff, especially his solo work!
And yes the album skyscraper is underrated because that is futuristic music from the 80s
Those first two Dave solo albums were the Tops, eat ‘em smile and skyscraper were gems and memories too go with it. Ahhhhhhh.
Still lovin' me some DLR‼️ He never gets old.
❤
David Lee Roth, one of the greatest ever.❤
DLR foi um Show a parte. Puro charme talento carisma e lindo jovem dos anos 80.
I think I fell down... more than I stood up in the '80's
Vai and roth were a dreamteam!
And the wonderful girls too!🤩
Never mind thed flashy vids... This is a great album
Agreed
Flashy vids are great too

Crazy how Dave didn't want keyboards for 1984, then released Skyscraper with keyboards all over the place. Also, Steve's playing is extraordinary here.
RIP Edward.
He didn’t want keyboards at the risk of Ed not playing guitar and concentrating on keyboards. So it’s a slightly different argument.
Siempre mantuvo la escencia de Van Halen de sus primeros años por eso me cae bien la musica de David Lee Roth lo unico le faltó el acompañamiento de un guitarrista mas espectacular. .es mi punto de vista personal.

Is it me or is the dynamic range on this version spectacular?
Two genius virtuosos in Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai. A real jewel. Not much footage on the bass player and can't tell whether or not it was Billy Sheehan. He must've been out or already started forming Mr Big.
Billy is playing here, but he left the band before the album was released, which is why he isn't in the video (or in the Just Like Paradise clip).
Actually Billy wasn't playing on this track. It's sampled. There were arguments about it and Billy of course left before the tour.
I thought it was Greg Bissonette’s brother on bass.
It's a Yamaha DX7 doing the bass here, and the bass player in the video is miming to it and his name is Matt Bissonette
Magic Music.
Not amazing, but underrated!

Wow what wonderful role of my pensamient.

That looks like the same car Dave and the rest of the guys in Van Halen used in the Panama video. Damn nice car. 👍
I thought the same car too
what a band, what an album !!!
Was just a kid and saw Dave on this tour, Poison and Faster Pussycat opened.
From what I've heard, Mitch Perry played guitar for Dave for about two weeks around that time. Right after Steve Vai.
