Happy New Year to all of the Questionable Garage Family! I appreciate all of the support through 2023, we were able to do some absolutely amazing things, grow a tremendous amount and set up for a sensational 2024. I'm grateful for all of you who take some time out of your day to stop in and watch a video, without each of you I would not have these opportunities. I hope I am successful in being somewhat entertaining, and moderately educational as we go on all the automotive adventures! We have a ton lined up for the upcoming year, progress on all the projects, with more single video cars mixed in. Working on a give-away for the first quarter of the year, and yes, Earl Leeker is going to make it to some burnout contests!
Thank you for all of these great videos! Love every one of them!
Happy New Year to you and yours as well. 🎉
What a special and iconic sports car developed in the years when cars were so mechanical and unique in contrast with today's 4-wheel PC boards. If only Porsche could resurrect the 924 and 944 with their current chassis, powertrains etc. I'm sure they can pull it off if it makes a business sense and is profitable.
The last fifteen seconds of this video makes all the hard work that you put into getting this gem looking shiny, worth it. You're a good egg and you've definitely got my respect. Here's to having a great 2024!
Happy New Year to you and your family, Jared.
A beautiful and fitting end to this part of that 944's story. Getting to see this car go from near barn find to presentable at a cars and coffee, so that a guy can give his wife her perfect Christmas gift is a wonderful thing to behold.
Now that's the reaction every car giver hopes to receive !
I agree. My wife got mad and didn't drive the car I bought her for a couple months , now I can't keep her out of it. Lol
I just lost my Mom on the early morning hours of Christmas eve, so watching something beautiful and heartwarming is what I needed. God bless you for being a good friend and God bless your friend for being a good husband and making his wife's Christmas extra special. Peace and love to you all and may this new year be better than the last! Be kind people and God bless us all! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
So sorry about your mom.
Very sorry about the loss of your Mom, and I’m honored for you to be able to find a little comfort with a video I made.
@@billyduffany3387 thank you. 🙏🏼
@@TheQuestionableGarage Thank you 🙏🏼
So sorry to hear. I lost my Dad on Christmas morning last year, so I know how you feel.
You killed it as always. Can’t thank you enough for everything you did to make this a very special Christmas for TAMARAH! She’s loving driving it!
She's got good taste, it's a beautiful old car much better looking than a boring 911 really glad she loves it it's stunning, well done jared👍👌
Her response was priceless! I am sure that made it all worthwhile for Jared.
Wonder if the stock pistons and rods could handle boosting it? Maybe it’s a candidate one day for forged internals, ARP head studs, upgraded head gasket new fueling and Haltech ECU! 😮 💥🔥
That ending made it all worth it. That 944 gets a new lease on life and two people get to enjoy it and each other's love for the car and their own. Way to go Jared!
You have my appreciation for the long nights, early mornings, and all the other sacrifices you've made for us, your viewers. I'm certain your friends are as well. Thank you, Jared, for showing us that awesome folks are still out here. We are not alone in doing friends a favors and not always being burned in the process. Much love to you, the Mrs. and puppies. Happy new year!!!
You're very welcome! Happy new year to you and yours!
Watching his wife be surprised, happy makes the hard work, and lack of sleep worth it 👌 ❤
Excellent year send off Jared! "You bought me a car?" with genuine tears, was priceless.
Pretty sure those were tears of JOY!!! So for once abandoning “The List” worked out GREAT!! Honestly thank you for including that. It made me happy just seeing that reaction
An hour long episode to end the year! I think so! Jared thanks for the great content all year and happy new year to you and your family! Keep up the grind in 2024!!
Happy new year!
wait, that was an hour? I didn't notice. :)
Jared Pink, you sir are incredible. I value your friendship and look forward to the Ferrari Truck project in 2024.
As a 944 guy, I love that you are looking at one! The side skirts were not a turbo option, they had lower skirts on the standard sills/rockers (I'm in the UK), they were however optional on the standard normally aspirated cars. It has a throttle response cam, which is a great cheap upgrade adds no power but the feel is so much better!
A9XXC is the registration number of my wifes 1991 S2 944. (A9XXG is my 1990 S2 and G9XXC is my 1991 S2 cabriolet :) )
I'm glad you put the final scene in.. I think the response would be as follows, and I put the spaces in because well, people read comments before they watch and it feels like a spoiler, even though it really isn't..
"Of COURSE I bought you a car, I love you!" (that's the unspoken ending)
Fantastic reaction, well done for a brilliant job and hats off to you and Travis
Glad you enjoyed it
The 944 IS the Best Porsche ! These cars actually handle .... Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
The 944 isn’t even the best 944. That goes to the fc rx7 ;)
Even through TriHard, i have never felt the uphill battle fatigue come through the screen like on this project. Another mission complete with the bonus of a friend helped with a happy wife. Much continued success to Jared & family.
My son bought an abandoned red '86 944 for $500 as his first car a year before he got his license in 2007 and we spent a year together working on it as a father/son project putting it into absolutely beautiful daily driver condition. I spent about $2000 on a new clutch, new just about every engine sensor, new timing belt, injector cleaning, exhaust cracks weld up, shifter rebuild, some modest body work, full paint job, reseating windshield and hatch, seat reupholster, recovered headliner, dying carpets, new shocks all around, and probably a bunch of stuff I've forgotten. We did all the work ourselves and I wouldn't trade that time for anything. I think it was a great choice for a first car: barely 135HP so not really fast, built like a tank, and only one extra seat for hauling around additional teenage stupidity but looks great, handles like a dream and according to him, "It was the coolest car at school, even cooler than the rich kids with brand new Mustangs."
Thanks for all the great content, happy new year!!
This particular musical jetwash was simply THE BEST musical interlude you have EVER had on this channel...
Absolutely inspirational, Jared! I loved that segment and have watched it 3 times in succession!!!
On to the rest of the video now...!
Thanks Mark! Happy it made your day :) -Duane the Editor
@@decaharms Sure did, Mr D!!
Amazing story, restoration and video!! I even got a little teary eyed at the end. 🎁🎊 well done sir!
Good on you Jared, you are always helping people out, and you sure helped a guy make his wife happy, so nothing questionable about that. G-d bless, and happy new year.
Im glad to see another 944 saved. I know these 900 series (924, 928 944) are not the popular models, but are still my favorite Porsche. PS: the reaction at the end, worth it!
Guess you mean 968, the 928 was in another class of car.
the reaction a guy wants from his wife! To hug her man not the car! Absolutely impressive, guys! Possibly the best ending I've seen on all the car video's I've watched in 10 years or more! Family and friends are everything! Just loving your video's Jared. You are now beside Derek VGG! BOTH NUMBER 1 in my book on content, general entertainment. The very best for the New Year 2024 to you! 🥰😍🥰😍💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏
A wise man passed this advice to me, and a less wise man is passing it along. Don't love something that can't love you back. Cars are a great blessing, and fun. Like them, and love the folks associated with them.
Merry Christmas!
Also loving this Porsche content and glad it’s staying in our group! ❤
I see bengals plates probably cincinnati car at some point. forgeline wheels was in dayton. expensive very nice wheels.
This video goes directly to my playlist called "special videos" that I usually put on to lift my spirits :). In this case I think you can say that the spirit of Christmas is called Jared, although I am sure that seeing Taylor's wife's reaction has already rewarded you in part, I hope that the effort you have put into that Porsche It will reward you in the form of many views and therefore financially. Happy New Year !! and thank you for brightening my day (it sounds silly, but it's true).
Even if it doesn’t ‘pay’ being able to help Travis make sure his friends car found a forever home, and helping a friend surprise his wife with her childhood dream car is payment enough.
53:00 which is why to schedule a build time plus a week so you have some leeway and add a few days before it has to get presented or delivered
the sound edit emulating a cavern was good stuff, props to DWAYNE the editor
Thanks for being the first to notice! Little things like that are fun to throw in :) -Duane the Editor
The end almost got me choked up. Great work on the Porsche but even greater work on helping a friend out.
back in the 90's when I was in HS, these could be had for $1500 in awesome shape and, they were dogpoo slow(even the turbo's) but they were VERY fun to drive. Handled on rails.
Happy to be apart of saving this beautiful car! Cheers to many years of fun.
I almost teared up when she raised that door and that look she had on her face. True car lady! Happy new year!
Great video! When you were starting to pull that fan apart, I was like shouting “Dude, don’t!”. Lived that pain before, just blow out with compressed air, and stick it back in and call it good, it was working afterall😂
Old specialized plastic/electrical parts never cooperate on tight deadlines or public holidays, but you still absolutely made that lady’s day…
Perfect ending to this one.
Gah lee, had me crying with her.
In last video I wondered who's this 944 that was in background, here's answer. Surprise (and long) special video is indeed a very good video.
Love the reaction of her receiving the car at the end. All worth it. 🎉 Happy New year everyone
Happy new year!!
and now I am crying after seeing the end... thanks for sharing
me too
Thanks for watching
Happy New Year everyone!🎉
Love the Porsche content!
That’s what a real friend will do. You have an amazing heart, God Bless You Jared!!!
Damn it …bout made an old man cry. Great vid!
Thanks for another year of awesome content and positive energy. Love your channel and the projects. Looking forward to what’s next 🎉🎉
Hey! Great vid as always! My fav vids are taking 80s/90s classics and bringing them back to life. The problem is RUclips has em all the time but they are time lapse and doesn't really tell the whole story, great job!
Me and my son search/watch these kind of vids every single bedtime, he is 10- goal is to find a cool retro 80/90s car and do a project like this so he and I can make memories and he will have a great first car! Btw, not a mechanic but got a PHD in RUclips engineering! Couldn't imagine this level a project without content creators like u, keep it up!!
Her reaction at the end was worth it. Well played boys! Happy New Year!
That amp you found is for commercial audio applications. That’s an older model from crown, CTS series.
Happy new years! Love to see more 944 content. Great video from the husband too. Can’t wait to get mine going soon!😊
Mr Questionable, Happy New Year, that was not a Questionable choice, that was very generous and thoughtful and loving , you made Tamara overall very happy to come to tears you big hearted softy, regards Rob
As someone who has always wanted a Porsche 944, myself: */salute*.
Thanks for giving it a second lease on driving; these things are too cool for the air-cooled 911 crowd to keep turning their noses up at.
HAPPY NEW YEAR JARRED🤓🇺🇸👍
Thank you, to you as well!
The echo (I assume Duane put in) when Jared looks in the glove box 😂😂😂
Jared you are a hero man!!
Her reaction was priceless!!
Happy you noticed! Whoo Hoo! -Duane the Editor
@@decaharms I got a good chuckle out of that one myself. love the editing work man. keep it up!
Thanks for getting reaction! That was great!
I love all the car content, but that reaction at the end was something special. Excellent work, Jared; looking forward to more in 2024, which I guess it already is as I write this, so HAPPY NEW YEAR!
As soon as the fan disassembly started, I was yelling nooooooooooo!!! Don’t do it! LOL.
Don't be dissing those back seats! I bought my 944, having had only 2 seaters before hen, so my daughter could sit in the back. She was 13-14 before it became a bit of a squeeze. I was our 'family car! Also drop the back seats and i have brought home flat packed IKEA queen beds with the hatch closed. A truly practical car!
These are are great handling GT cars not point to point racers. Mine is an 85 (OZ/Euros spec (no ugly US bumpers) with originally 163hp now about 185hp, 18" lightweight wheels Saratoga glass roof and much lightened (1,150kg) . It is still a ball to drive through the twisty bits of the lovely scenery down here.
Jared, you are an inspiration to all of us!!!!!! Thank you!
Hey Jared, hope you get to see this. Thank-you man. Your videos are always entertaining and I will do my best to watch them (even if time doesn't permit it on release day).
Your projects are always enjoyable, usually diverse, but also there is a more "humble" element to many. 3 billion horsepower in a dedicated burnout car can be awesome, but as an example, this needing a mop and basic mechanical work reminds me of stuff I've done pre having children, mortgage etc and it brings back some awesome memories of awesome (to me) cars I've come acoss, worked on, driven or just enjoyed learning about.
Thankyou for your and the production team's hard work. Long may it continue
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate the support a ton.
This was a great video. When the wife saw her car it made my eyes water a little (must have been dust blown into them). I love these sort of giving back videos. I am trying to build up a ute as a tribute to my Dad who I lost in Jan last year. Has been a hard task as I have no help so understand the work and pain that goes into it.
Remember to try to tackle one small task each time. It can be very daunting, but even just 10 minutes of progress one night, is 10 minutes less you have to do later!
It’s awesome you started out changing the timing belt and water pump on this. They are the Grim Reaper for these cars. Unfortunately there is one more job that really needs to be done. The oil cooler seals are probably hard and will mix the oil and coolant. This usually leads to bearings failure. Taking the exhaust manifold off in these is rough, once removed the oil cooler is readily accessible.
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Happy New Year and thank you for all the happiness and joy you bring with your videos
Had a couple of 924S models (mechanically the same) a few years ago - great cars, with excellent build quality. The rear mounted transaxle makes the handling very good due to better weight distribution too. There was a factory recall for that main fuel line that runs over the cam cover - you might want to check on that. Wish I still had mine... 😢
That's what life is all about, more than anything! Helping a friend out, making a young lady cry from joy, and then sleeping for 2 days straight! Lol (well, maybe not the last part)
Great job Jared!
So true and also you become part of the story when you put it back on the road!
Jared, your dedication, character, knowledge, and respect keeps us all coming. Thank YOU for an awesome year of content!!
I do want to see you get into some Cummins turbo diesel stuff 😈 it will grow the channel and give you the opportunity to have more tow pigs than just the shiny new gmc and Johnny rev which is pretty questionable lol
her response in the end was totally worth it !!!!!.
Genuinely like that, the wheels are spot on, can’t beat a 90’s Clifford sticker too. Got me looking but most in uk are rust buckets
Awesome stuff Jared, I hope Santa rewarded you for being an unquestionable G.C. ( Kiwi slang for very, very, very awesome fella !! ) And once again, the car world and car guys like Travis are never far away from an awesome story and coming together of wonderful people !! Have a fantastic New Year & thank you for always giving a real world view of things . . . Love your channel and all that you do !! Cheers Grant
Happy holidays!
Happy new year Jared. I'm very happy to see you succeed on your own. Good on ya!
So stoked you added some of the reveal! You did a great job with that Volksaudorsche!
The crown unit in the trunk is a stereo amplifier but not designed for automotive use as Jared suspected. I use one in my home theater to run my subwoofers.
Thank you, and happy new year
Nice looking forward to the 944 building
Seeing her reaction was worth every second!!! AWESOME video and Christmas present!
Happy New Year Jared to you and your family. That reveal at the end made it all worth it!
My (now fiancé) had a bought a base model 8 valve 1987 944 a couple years ago. A year ago she sold it and now we own an identical spec 1987 944S 16 valve. I do most of the work since this one is in my name, but we absolutely love it. They’re such fun cars. I wish we had kept the 8 valve. They’re so much easier to work on and find parts for. The extra 40 horsepower is very nice tho. It also has cams from the 3.0L 944 S2 so it sounds like a cammed V8 at idle. Get it above 4500 RPM and it hauls ass.
I own a 1987 944 original owner 395000 MI have only changed two clutches and replace the head gasket..... still has the original Muffler and runs like it was new
first stick shift I ever drove was a 928/944 when I was... 15? I almost lost that tiny clutch pedal in that giant footwell (insert hotdog/hallway reference here) and that made backing up a bit nerve wracking 😂
Your presentation is top notch! Love your demeanor and easy to follow work. Just subbed. The end is gold for sure. Looking forward to watching more of your vids!
Great way to start the New Year! I'm never gonna own one of these but the knowledge Jared dropped is invaluable!
When I heard the phrase " a couple big cans" knew she was going to be a beauty. Nice job Derek!
A 944, very questionable indeed😂😂. Awsome story, hit me on the feels at the end😭😭😭
That was SUPER COOL. Well done!
I actually have a 86 944 turbo. Super cool to see you get a car that I Have. I’m just up the road if you ever need a hand wouldn’t mind swing by to help out! Love the videos buddy keep it up
Taylor’s wife’s reaction is what makes it all worth it. Awesome job man!
In 1994 i bought a MOT fail ( UK test ) 1984 944 For £900 as it needed welding and being 23yo and being able to buy one i jumped on it! Took me 6 weekends to weld it back up and get it to pass the MOT and i drove the snot out of it for 2 years until the strut tops rusted out and it was parted out! The poor mans porsche is actually a great car!
Great ending!
That was so kind and awesome Jared! Great way to end and start the year by spreading kindness! Happy new year! 🎉🎉
Thanks! You too!
WOW her reaction was amazing! 🤩
Worth all the sleepless nights Jared!
Yes it was!
The ending made it all worth while. Thanks for another awesome video.
Good job, guys. Nice gift.
at 51:00 when you were listing all the things that needed fixing, I was thinking "This guy is a glutton for punishment!"
then you said: "Porsches are FUN!"
Wow! Hope she thinks so...
My very first Porsche was a black 944. It was the mid 80's in SoCal and I was 25 years old. The only problem was i could only fit three hot chicks in it at a time. Chicks were smaller then. Thank you for your time and all the memories.
I like that. " chicks were smaller then " . Bloody brilliant 😂 Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
I bet seeing her reaction at the end made this whole effort worth it. Great job!
Happy New Year ! Great video and ending ! I like watching your videos. It gives me inspiration to finish my own projects.
You can do it!
This car is soooo nostalgic. Perfect Christmas gift. I approve.
Wow perfect ending. A material object is meaningless without a person who loves it. Its ins good home.
The end of the story is what Christmas is all about! Great job!
Happy New Year, Jared. Àlso in some states a 2 seater and a 4 seater and the difference between the two could be 1200 every six months. My father had a 928 4 seater, and because he got the fake back seat, he saved 900 dollars every 6 months. My mom couldn't understand why a human couldn't fit in the back seat.
The perfect reaction to a great little project 🤙 hope you all had a lovely Xmas and new year 🎉 stay safe and keep wrenching
Happy holidays!
