Yeah it wasn't a very good week at Canadian Nationals for a lot of skaters tbh (maybe it's the extreme cold front we got) I'm eagerly waiting to hear team assignments for world's for 😃
Not the FS performance she was planning on. No consolation to her, but this Championship saw a lot of unfortunate performances. One thing has stood out (to me) in the various videos from this championship event, the audience numbers were unbelievably disappointing. I hope this is not the trend going forward, otherwise things look bleak for figure skating in Canada. Thank you for posting this.
No problem. Part this year's numbers being down is probably the extreme cold front this week (~-30C), my friends thought I was crazy for going to the rink 😂 But in general the popularity is down in North America, I was told this year's Nats is not even broadcast on TV.
We don't have any stars on the Canadian team, people travelled far to see the likes of Tessa/Scott and Patrick Chan but we lack talent strong enough to make people want to buy a ticket to watch sadly.
It's disappointing to see that so few people showed up for the event. And, unfortunately, many of the skaters, including Maddie, had low energy performances. I think Maddie needs music with a little more spark.
Unfortunately there was an extreme cold front (-35C) that week, that didn't help attendance levels. I did wonder if the higher altitude also made a difference cuz I did see Maddie skate better at other comps.
