    Well.. this is game changing!! As a 16 year veteran as a live sound engineer, I can say without a doubt this is the most game changing plugin I have EVER seen

    This has to be wonderful for musical theater! Running 25 wireless mics all open at the same time with 18 musicians playing out loud, I think I need this!!!!!

    What's the difference between this and a noise gate, leveler, limiter chain that you can make yourself and save as a template???

    • @Contradium
      @Contradium 10 лет назад

      There's probably some sort of intelligence/logic built in that turns the mics up and down based on the other mic levels. Doing that with your own chain, with each mic added, adds a LOT of complexity to what you're doing, especially when the mic count gets above 4.
      Regardless of how it works (I'm sure it's doing more than what we think it's doing in specific situations), I must say I was pretty impressed with this demo, even though I don't necessarily do this type of stuff myself.

      Apparently, the difference is that a gate would introduce artifacts. The Dugan plugin is dynamic, in that it automatically manages the different levels with proprietary methods rather than a simple gate. It actually doesn't use a gate at all. It also keeps all of the different input gains at the same level automatically. If I had to use this or try to do everything manually, I think I would choose this. If people are using this for television it must be pretty good I guess.

    You need soundgrid for this to work I assume?

    I would really like to know how this works with the SD7. How is it setup in Multirack? Where and how is it being inserted?

    • @eduardbiermann5503
      @eduardbiermann5503 8 лет назад

      SD7 runs through SoundGrid. Just a simple plugin like you would have on any rack space in MultiRack, except its 8 or 16 racks at once. Multitrack has a separate window for the Automixer. Just assign your channel on each rack as per usual. Each selected channel on the desk has an insert post fader which feeds the Dugan Automixer (depending on how you route it in MultiRack)

    What's the difference between this and a simple Gate?

      Dugan works with the gains of the mikes. Noise gates come into play based on threshold, so it is not always the best option for these types of applications. (It is difficult to find the compromise between what should be closed and what should not) In my case, I use expanders a lot, which are much softer in response and behave more like Dugan. The big difference is that this plugin optimizes to the maximum the time that a mic is open or not, in a fast, easy and precise way.

    I have a problem. I am using the Dugan MY16 with multiple lavs. When one Actor yells really loud and the other actor talks softly the one that is talking softly gets affected. the audio drops down to very low volume so it sounds like it's cutting out. My producers also noticed this and they don't want me to use the Dugan. What can I do to stop this problem? I noticed it happens to other mixers with other shows and the other producers can't tell so they don't tell them anything. But I do hear it and it is not acceptable!!!. If I bring all the weights down to -30 will it help? Thanx.

    • @Elyodachido
      @Elyodachido 5 лет назад

      I put them all down to -30 and it still "cuts out" when another person talks really loudly.

    • @Elyodachido
      @Elyodachido 5 лет назад

      It happened again big time even with all of them at -30.
      I'm convinced this system is only for relaxed actors/shows where they don't talk at the same time.

      Yeh this isnt for theatre. Would be great if it could work but there is far too much going on by way of creative human input. A plugin could never understand why these people are singing BVs, these are lead, this one is louder because they are supposed to be, oh but only for that 12 seconds, now they should sit back. This system is for conferences, award shows, events, tv etc. It works fantastically at that but i dont see a way it will ever work for theatre applications sadly, line mixing is still the best way. For now at least.

    Okay. Now tell me why is there a cut each time you turn on and off the plug in on your console ?
    You people are trying to sell a product to video professionals with a video trick that even the cheapest adds don't use anymore...
    I'd love it to work as good as Andrew Fletcher tell me it does.
