What a wonderful peek into history with those coins. Lovely too.
Looking through cigar boxes and small purses always gets me excited! Love this video! Thanks!
I LOVE the history of these old collections!!
The historical period that a given coin is from is one of the most interesting things about coin collecting to me, such as any coin from the US colonial period or from the early years of the nation's independence - one of my prized coins obtained at a live auction some years ago is a 1798 10-arrow bust dollar, and it's fascinating to consider that this coin was minted when most of the Founding Fathers were still alive, and it's fun to think that George Washington was still alive at the time and it's within the realm of possibility that it may have even passed through his hands, although it's impossible to ever know, of course, but just maybe.... lol! The backdrop of history from the period during which a given coin was minted is part of its charm in a collection, I think.
That collection was pretty neat. 👍
I’m with you on the finding little treasures hidden away in change purses and the like. It’s like a treasure hunt when you’re a kid…and in many cases when you’re an adult too…lol. It really is a thrill to look through stuff like that.
It was so nice you gave a bit of background on the man who owned this group of items. It humanizes the experience.
Yes I agree this man has become part of the history of the coins he once held. Forever enshrined and connected by the great tribute Dan made him with this video.
@@EmilyTienne provenance holds a lot of weight in this hobby for me. Good comment.

Thanks for sharing Daniel !!
Nice purchase 😮
Louisville Kentucky also experienced the’37 flood. Every time it would rain for what seemed like days my mother would recount those days.🌧️
1996 double or triple strike means like a satin finish ?
It almost brought me to tears seeing that no stars half dime with a hole in it. I need the no stars half dime and dime for my type set.
Think of it this way, it very well may have brought someone to tears to lose it 100 years ago.
I'm not a condition guy. Coins or baseball cards, I like stuff that's in rough condition. It shows that it was handled, used, loved. I'd rather have that piece of history in my hands for pennies on the dollar, than have to go view a coin through a plastic holder in a bank self deposit box. I enjoy the thrill of putting a capped bust large cent into a child's hand and telling them that when that coin was made, George Washington was president. Coins were made to be handled and exchanged, not hermetically sealed. Will my collection ever be worth a fortune? No. But to me, the pleasure I've derived from it is priceless.
I always thought full bell lines meant from bottom left to right on a coin , not the break on the bell ?
History is what got me into coins.
Nice video as always. Personally if I had the option of buying a coin with a hole in it or buying a repaired version I'd rather have it unrepaired. It tells a better story. Who knows how long someone wore it. Or how long it was in circulation before it was drilled. I once found an 1867 nickel 3 cent piece in a dime roll that had holes on either side of the III to be worn as a bracelet. It's probably my favorite coin just for the history of who made it, wore it and how it was lost back into circulation.
That was fun. Thx Daniel
Hi there Daniel and stacker/collector friends!!!!!
Good morning, I agree always fun when you get lucky enough to find these boxes.
Something how you find same metals as we have here that's what I like about the hobby
That will give you the fever 🥵 for this hobby ❤️🇺🇸🦅
Love it so much to explore.
There's always fun stuff out there. It's part of what makes the hobby fun. Thanks, Daniel!
Enjoy your show each morning and thanks for the invite ✳️
As a kid growing up in Provo, Utah, I used to find WWII-era state tax tokens while playing in the dirt of my grandmother's garden. Some were metal, most were (orange?) plastic with a hole in the center. I'm pretty sure they weren't worth anything, but I sure wish I still had some of those great treasure finds from my childhood. To this day, I cannot be 100% sure my grandma didn't "seed" the yard with coins and tokens in order to pique my curiosity. 😂
Wow thats a great story, now i too wonder if grandma was seeding the yard. That would be the sweetest thing ive ever heard
My bet is on grandma.
Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you mentioned about past history, most people have short memories
The thing I love about coin and currency collecting for me is the history. You can hold something in your hand from days gone past. thanks for sharing the coins with us. PS it's great that your Dad is helping you out.
Nice collection. Been needing to get a capped bust half dollar for my collection. That one was a beauty! Hole and all 🙂
It's too bad those coins had holes drilled through.
Have a nice day from Norway
All coinage has a story to tell. I'd love to know some of those stories if they could talk. Great video as always.
Let's go Buckeyes

2025 Red Book
@CoinHELPu thank you 😊 🙏
Fun stuff
Sweet
good day
Pretty cool clipped cent. I think it`s the real deal (minting error) and not `post-mint damage` And it`s red so it was never really circulated. Nice!
One of my so-called friends stole the molarity of my coins worth thousands😢.
Hi sir do you collect uk pennies I need help to find the mint errors?
That's my last name
I have a 1936 Clipped Planchet Penny that the rim is intact and will stand on its own. How does it have the Rim because on most clipped coins I’ve never seen this before. It is at 9 o clock at the In God we Trust. I found that in a bag of unsearchedPennie’s. I also had 2 1909 S VDB and 1 -1909 VdB that I’ve since lost 😢 I was told by my LCS that they were worth $30 each when I found them in 2012. I’m still depressed over that very much. Now I gave up on the hobby . The mint executives hold all the real valuable coins.
🇺🇸 USA junk silver 90%
