    You should do a whole video on how to add bass, following the root-notes of the melody, without the bass becoming muddy. If you should stretch, what stretch to use, envelope all of that, and how not to muddy them up. You went over it in like the 4th or 5th of part of the video, but it was kind of hard to understand lol.
    Good video bruh...!!

    1. the lowest note in a chord isn't always the most "dominant"
    2. imagine the baseline in a rocksong would just follow the chords, that would be boring as hell

    The names of the scales come from the places in Anatolia (currently Turkey). All the scales are based on the music that people played in certain areas of Anatolia. For example, the phyrigian scale is from Phyrgia.

      they call these types of scales "modes". There are 7 different modes and in the key of C major, every note up the scale is a new mode. C to C is Ionian, D to D is Dorian, etc. Little facts like this change the game but aren't needed to be successful

      Yeah memorization with a daw isn’t needed

    • @hado33_
      @hado33_ Год назад

      @Chris Engle The analogy would make more sense if the doctor had a grid that highlighted where he should cut etc. That's what the scale helper does. It just shows you which notes are in what scales, why memorize it when you can just chose what scale you want and have it right there for you?

    • @punu3675
      @punu3675 Год назад

      @Chris Engle no it’s very tedious and not needed anyway, its a minor thing and it only takes 2 seconds to Look up and it won’t affect your musical skills. Comparing it to being a doctor is very dumb due to the sheer amount of knowledge and precision a doctor needs to have and all you’re doing is working on music, you aren’t trying to improve/ save a human life

    everything between Dorian and Locrian at the end of that drop down scale list @3:00 are NOT scales. they are Greek modes. there are seven them. and just like scales there are seven notes per octave in them they can be thought of as playing scales over the chords that belong to a different scale.

    Harmonic minor 2122131 evil very dark etc
    Major scale 2212221 happy playful etc
    Learn to play the keyboard and your beats will sound so much better then programming them. They will have life and soul. Practice your scales and chords and find out why you go from one key to another. So you are not blindly pressing keys over and over. That way you learn to make tension and release and resolve.

    if you are in c major scale but you start in the note A(la) you get aelian mode. A scale that is also known as A natural minor scale.

    I have been producing for close to 4 years, I've dabbled in making my own melodies but they usually don't sound that good. So I sticked to using loops. This tutorial is really good, I've just made my first actual decent sounding melody with it. I hope I can keep it up!
