    The names of the scales come from the places in Anatolia (currently Turkey). All the scales are based on the music that people played in certain areas of Anatolia. For example, the phyrigian scale is from Phyrgia.

      they call these types of scales "modes". There are 7 different modes and in the key of C major, every note up the scale is a new mode. C to C is Ionian, D to D is Dorian, etc. Little facts like this change the game but aren't needed to be successful

If you should stretch, what stretch to use, envelope all of that, and how not to muddy them up. • @nathanielbrown8718
    @nathanielbrown8718 2 года назад

    aeolian is the 6th mode of a scale. Modes are just scales based off of a regular key (like E-flat) but they don't start on the root note. When you have a major scale but start on the 6th note, you end up with a minor scale. Basically, if you learn your major scales, you will automatically learn the minor scales.

      Yeah memorization with a daw isn’t needed

    • @hado33_
      @hado33_ 2 года назад

      @Chris Engle The analogy would make more sense if the doctor had a grid that highlighted where he should cut etc. That's what the scale helper does. It just shows you which notes are in what scales, why memorize it when you can just chose what scale you want and have it right there for you?

    • @punu3675
      @punu3675 2 года назад

      @Chris Engle no it’s very tedious and not needed anyway, its a minor thing and it only takes 2 seconds to Look up and it won’t affect your musical skills. Comparing it to being a doctor is very dumb due to the sheer amount of knowledge and precision a doctor needs to have and all you’re doing is working on music, you aren’t trying to improve/ save a human life

  • @drum877

    Aeolian is a mode! Since every major scale is as well a minor scale if you start on a specific different key. So A minor is also C major the difference is you started the scale on A instead of C and did the same pattern. Notice the change in emotion? as well your tonic note or chord will change which is the chord that gives you the most resolve or impact in that scale. So the tonic of the scale of C major is “C” and the tonic of A minor is “a”.
    “Modes” are the starting position in a major scale. Depending where you start will determine what mode you are in. But that is advanced music theory. That and “ the Circle of 5ths” are advanced. Master the basics of scales then chords the chord progressions and Then you can move on to modes and the circle of 5ths.
    Out of the 16 plus years I have been making beats. Music Theory was by far what gave me the biggest leap in the sound of my music. I wish I studied it earlier. It opens up everything and makes you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. As well you can pick up any instrument and once you can play a note. You will learn it so fast it’s crazy. That’s why Price could play so many. He knew music theory!!!!!

    • @drum877
      @drum877 3 года назад

      It may not be as fun as making a beat. But it’s like Goku in the hyperbolic time chamber. You will be a stronger more talented musician. Just take your time and learn it slowly. Play the scale over and over but first learn what keys are what on your keyboard. You should know them with out a map. Look at the black keys and you will see the pattern. Most keyboards start on C unless it’s a large keyboard.
      The white keys are basically normal letters
      “A-G” then it starts again. The Black keys are sharps and flats it depends which direction you are playing. The best way to remember is when you lay back your “flat” so backwards is “Flat”

    • @beanman8573
      @beanman8573 2 года назад

      This is so wrong wtf? First off A minor isnt "also" C major, if you played the notes in a C scale starting from A thats not magically A minor you need the g#. God knows what you mean in the bit after that. Modes are not starting positions of a major scale at all they are just another type of scales.

    • @beanman8573
      @beanman8573 2 года назад

      If uou have been making beats for 16 years and you dont know this im worried for your sanity. Also what on earth, learning music theory does not equal knowing how to play any instrument. If i picked up a trombone yes i would be able to know the note im playing but i wouldnt be able to form a melody. Not because i dont know the theory to do so, its because i cant play a trombone.

    • @beanman8573
      @beanman8573 2 года назад

      @@drum877 also the last comment about sharps and flats... flats are flats because they are a flattened version or lowered version of a note by one semitone. Sharps are the inverse.
