Hope you find this useful! Let me know if you guessed any of the melodies! 👇
Always good tips sensei! :)
As someone who's been treated by many psychologists and having been declared psychologically healthy after 4 appointments with my last psychologist... I understand almost everything in this video, except some technical stuff 😅 I'm not very advanced at technical music terms, as I just started producing... Don't even have anything yet 😅 (except some lyrics, and a small amount of experimental beats) but that'll come! Once I invest enough time! Need a license for a DAW first!
❤ Love these videos! Even though most of it, already made a lot of sense to me 😊
I won't even be making EDM, unless you'd call DnB EDM as well! But this information, is useful for any producer! ❤
How to make funky house like BLOCK & CROWN
10.46 Deadmau5 Veldt
Bingo! What a tune :)@@jaymous91
I knew it was sandstorm before you even made the melody
Haha, cheers! 🙂
Bro same!
I feel like I’ve seen that pfp at my grocery store
Same
@@moonbow3641 there is a Company with this icon in red for sure
my man just recreated popular songs and told us what key they are in
True but he told you a little abt scales and modes
1:46 it reminded me of “can’t stop this feeling”
the fact that every minor key shares it's keys with a major key shows there's definitely a bit of writing talent that needs to go into creating that emotion too, but good tips
One thing I would add onto this is the contrast between writing melodies and achieving consonance: while scales serve as a 'secret trick' to unlock consonance, a clear and teachable concept, there's no equivalent secret in creating incredible melodies. It comes from an explorative process and personal expression, rather than a singular, teachable formula. I've heard many times online from people who watch deadmau5 stream that he just moves midi notes up and down until they work haha. Music theory helps but it's mainly about patience and putting the time into it.
Also we had a similar moment there when you played The Veldt. I love how music can envoke that kind of response.
Thanks! Your videos are awesome
I wanted to buy you a cup of coffee
Thank you so much, Boris, I really appreciate the support! 🙌🏻🙂
Never thought about phrygian scale as feeling of sexiness :) but it is indeed. Great examples!
Maybe it's just the way my mind works 😆
@@EDMTips maybe you're associating it with that Benny Benassi video with the power tools :P
There's a strong chance of that 😆@@ereider
@@EDMTipshow can I make my song more sexual
The fact that I have EDC next month and you out that nostalgia melody🥲can’t wait for the Mau5🙈
They say humans experiment all kinds of emotions but I never experimented “sexiness”
Same.
Maybe you should? 🙂
I wish to learn this power further.
Thank you so much Will for uploading this. Every video you make just seems to get more and more informative, as well as always enjoyable.. This is yet another one I have to watch many times over and over!
Thank you so much, I am really glad you liked it! 🙌🏻🙏🏻
Happiness looks like Alan Walker "Faded"
Omg true
I think it's more nostalgic
Because it's literally Faded, he did nothing new, just made it faster and upbeat to make it happy
@@Amuztak oooo
It’s sad to me

As soon as you changed the pitch of those notes and the melodies turned into The Veldt I got chills!
P.S Can you do something like this for Chord progressions?
Absolutely! If people like this video, I will do more of them in the future :)

One of the main rules of the internet is that for whatever you’re trying to learn / dude there will be a British dude with a RUclips tutorial ready to help you with it. Music production? Boom. Minecraft mod installation tutorials? Boom. It’s universal

Bro just cracked the code of melody making. These tips are extraordinary, there is such greatness in making the difficult easier to understandd!

Gracias, por este excelente video...👌🇲🇽✌️
De nada!
🎉Nice video I think still about three quarters of the emotions in a song are motivated by chord progressions
I'll make one on that later this month! :)
I cannot get enough of your tutorial videos!
Thanks for the support!
Stoked to hear that! Which one is your favourite? 🙂
@@EDMTips I definitely have to say your Poly rhythm and Poly meter video really took my music to another level. translating it over and my production skills have improved exponentially. I cannot wait to afford to take your course and really tighten up my skills.
Awesome, I am glad you found it helpful!
I’m more and more starting to think that for me to create a good melody come up with my rhythmic component in the root note, then work on it from there.
I can't see why this wouldn't work
WE KNOW YOU MADE WAKE ME UP FOR HAPPINESS/JOY
Damn that intro totally got me
this is awesome would be nice if you can make a video like this, then tern itin to a complete song Vers pre chorus drop ✌
Thanks for the suggestion! Depending on how many people will vote for this, I might 😬
Great sir🎉
Thank you, glad you found it helpful! 🙂
This is sooooooo good!! Thank you! ❤
You're so welcome!
You’re welcome, Jamie, glad you enjoyed it! Which melody was your favourite?
@@EDMTips I recognized all of them (sometimes with just the chords, 90's kid haha) but Avicii's Wake Me Up stood out to me on how simple the melody is. I'm guilty of over complicating my songs.
your microphone sounds amazing

I dont like music videos, but damn! That was entertaining and useful to watch! (I noticed sandstorm before you put the melody, absolutely everyone knows this song xd)

Stoked to hear that! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙂
I'm really good at sad melodies but i wanna make people feel happy!
Had whiplash when i heard the Veldt pop up lmao. I agree though, it's def nostalgic feeling.
Oi! I am not a ableton user.. But I will say.. I have a natural nack for making melodies and top leads much easier then what seems to be the most difficult thing to do for EDM producers. I wanted to share that there were a few things that caught my attention and this has been saved to my personal playlist to adventure back to (having autism and not being able to fully understand verbal communication - This is something I will have to do to see it and have my brain earn its Ah HA! moment.) and looking forward to the many other videos you have posted here! Thank you for taking the time to provide these "how to's" because there is a LOT of *Crap* that just doesnt make sense. Thank you !
Satisfaction...
It is indeed!
I HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR MONTHS YOU ARE MY SAVIOR
Stoked to hear you found this helpful! Anything else in particular you’re struggling with and would like me to cover on the channel?
@@EDMTips nothing in particular.
Could you break down some of Alan Walker’s melodies? I would love to learn from your tips. ❤

In the name of loveeeeee

Hey Will! I'm interested in one of your courses, i'm from Spain ¿Have all the videos and materials the possibility to play with spanish subtitles? Regards!
Great question! Alas, not at the moment but we are working on a solution :)
So how do you get the notes and stuff looking like that and how to insert them? also what ableton live version are you using?
Yo we got the same pfp
7:45 Faded
Bingo!
Question, If you use the phrygian mode melody, do you set the chords in phrygian as well?
I would do so
🔥
Which daw are you using? I am pro noob which daw should i use?
What software are you using, please could you send me a link so I can download it.
hi, your videos are awesome. i hava a question, how can i do a synth like "outside world - sunbeam"? i mean that sort of choir. I hope you can help me :)
Great question! Perhaps I will make a video on this in the future :)
@@EDMTips yes please :D
Can you do Anger,Despair,Trespassing,Revenge and Pain 😂
You made that look simple, thx for the lesson.
Hahah, these are some emotions 🤣
Will, some great examples here. Also, an episode dedicated entirely to pitch bends would probably be a big hit.
Amen, brother and stay awesome!
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it!
Great suggestion, I will add this to my very long to-do list :)
Teach me how to make some lofi chord progression
There are much more complex feelings as long as you know music theory and understand tone recognition
i just read the title of the Ableton Live project ^^'
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great Video! Can you insert Chapters with Timestamps? That would be so awesome! :)
Great suggestion, we will add the chapters soon.
@@EDMTips thanks! 🥳

I always thought the blues scales had a sense of swagger...
Can't say I saw the phrygian scale coming tho~
I am glad I managed to surprise you :)
I saw that you use the new Sennheiser Hd490! Are you happy with it?
Yes, great headphones! I am still using my 650s too :)
@@EDMTips thanks for your answer. If you still use the 650: what are you missing in the 490s?
Actually, I haven't used my 650s for a while. These are too comfy!@@freundchenrecords
knew it was a martin Garrix song with the first chord
This chord progressions are very distinctive 🙂🙌🏻
Hey man, great video! I was wondering if you could do a how to make music like zakes bantwini? He makes really cool music and would love to see some of the finer details that u could help me with

Could you please make a video on how to make a trap beat from scratch.

Me: **See Thumbnail**
Also Me: **Undertale** 😂
😂
Which DW software u are using
I am using Ableton Live :)
I....don't get sexiness from the Phrygian melody.
I like it - especially when you were playing it with the piano to get a feel for the rhythm but I was thinking more mysterious, or perhaps suspenseful/foreboding like something is about to happen/starting to happen.
I can't say I was feeling sexy/flirtatious though when I was listening to it. I just kept get more foreboding like it was the bass line to a battle theme or the part of the theme where the bass takes the lead before standing out when the rest of the song comes back in.
Fair enough, and thanks for the feedback! It is subjective to a degree, plus our feelings change day to day… so you have a good point!
bruh the file name at the top shows the song name
😂 oops!
Is there a program like this that's free?
Try Garage Band. It won't be as powerful but it will get you started
Hey everybody .. What are your steps for making a beat? Start with a bpm and kicks and snares or start with a sample or start with a melody
What is the name of the app you are using ?
Ableton Live
hey what's the name of the nostalgia song?
The Veldt
