I understand and accept that as a solo player there will be some limitations, and eventually there will be a limit in ship sizes where a solo player just won’t be able to cross, and I accept that, as of right now it seems like that size limit is the polaris. It sucks but I get it, I think if they release more carrack sized ships that are capable of being flown solo and still being competent in combat solo players will be more okay with it.
Truth be told, I always limited my fleet to a COMBAT ship the size of the Polaris. I have larger but they're industrial and I don't intend to run them without a crew. I didn't even intend to run the Polaris solo tbh. The largest ship I want to run with npc should be under 5 to man effectively. With the Polaris, for now I'll use it as a mobile base for deep space diving in my Vulture or Prospector. That's it. Yes, I could use the Reclaimer I own but I've come to realize that single salvage head is much slower than two on the Vulture. That's it though.. A mobile base. Not for combat. But in the case of combat, I intend to shrug it off and make my escape unless they were smart enough to bring a jammer. And to that opposition, all I can do is lock and load in the armory and say we'll played.....Let's dance.... That's really all there is to it. These nut to butt 24/7 players crying about how another man runs his fleet is very odd...
solo players are so megalomaniac and narcissitic that when orgs space stations were unvield, they cried about not being able to solo a several miles long fuking space station 😂😂😂
Reasonable and sensible. Also, there's no good reason why we should accept that when NPC Crew has been a foundational part of SC since literally day one.
I was doing solo military missions on Polaris on PTU just yesterday. You just spin the ship, turn off the engines so that the rotation continues and transfer to the turret. You can also stand far away and safely launch torpedoes. On a small ship, I wouldn't be able to fight against a bunch of bots, and the shields of Polaris calmly withstand their shots. If you meet the same Polaris with a full crew, you can just fly away, but let's be honest, I'm sure that a full crew will be very rare.
Everything you said about trying to play while not being solo made me laugh, as I think I have experienced all of that. Having said that, yes, I will run the entire length of the ship to fire torpedoes, man a tractor beam, load boxes, and yes I am going to do it all. My plan is to load this ship up with a vulture, a couple of fighters, a couple crates of armor, weapons and ammo, enough Cruz to live forever, and never come back....until the Pioneer is released. Only then will I come back from Pyro to move everything into my new home.
I struggle finding people to do multi crew and I understand why, it’s basically hard mode vs all players in single seat fighters. Today I joined up with a dude to do the cargo recovery save Stanton mission. You literally need cargo space to complete this mission. I suggested we take a C2 and he said if I’m not flying my hornet I’m not playing the game. That’s a totally fine opinion but that is most everyone’s opinion so it just leaves multi crew as a never played option. NPCs and AI blades are a must if this is ever to work.
in any MMO there's content that's preferred solo, fairly easy solo, difficult solo, and impossible to solo. SC will be no different. You can absolutely go out and fly any ship solo. Sure. But is it really fair to give a single player the power and combat capabilities of twelve or more? No. Just like you can't solo tank endgame raids in WoW or FF14. Otherwise instead of having one Polaris fully crewed by a competent group of people, you'd have twelve Polari. Because it wouldn't be meta to have human crew, when you could have NPC crew and just take more ships. Same problem as the light fighter meta now, just people would be jumping up to bigger ships to fly by themselves. CIG also promised 100 star systems, but that was way back when every planet was just going to have a bespoke landing zone that you'd cut to, not fully rendered and modeled planets you could explore the entirety of. Scopes change. What's even possible changes. And NPC crews are going to be a huge drain on server resources when everyone and their mother decides they want NPC's on anything larger than a Nomad. Also, you've got a few things wrong in the video. Pilot does have offensive capabilities, those sixteen s3 missiles either side of the bridge. Also, all four torpedo tubes can be launched from one station. Just to clarify.
Most woke response & I fully agree. At the end of the day no one with a brain is trying to argue about soloing. Period. Its the fact that solo "flying" & soloing are two different things. Like you said, any ship can be solo flown, but getting out the pilot seat to use the weapons is not soloing. Soloing is consider when you're able to use at least 75% somethings capabilities without another person(s). Running from Pilot to Torps to Turrets ain't it. Now NPCs will MOST DEFINITELY change due to the load this would be on the game. They promised a lot, and many of those things have been condensed or restructured for a better gameplay experience overall.
The only issue I see with the polaris are those torp station, just givem to the co-Pilot, I severely dislike forced crew for no reason. But I am super happy that we can't solo big ships any time soon. It makes them more of a special occasion, something to behold if they show up, instead of them spamming the sky with npc crewed idris, polaris and Jav's
Yea they did say you could. Oh well, not surprised. I just hope the large industrial ships are more solo friendly than the combat ones (Orion, Crucible).
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it as an owner of those ships and a solo player. I wouldn't really count on it. There are so many moving parts that it might be MORE demanding than a combat ship. Still, I own it. It'll look pretty in my hangar until she's needed.
im still hopeful for npc crews. that said when i first backed star citizen my son was 1, by the time im ready to play i will have 3 children all ready to play with me so i guess ill have my own crew. should have had more kids :)
I do think it makes some sense to separate some features of the ship to allow additional players. But I think Elite Dangerous managed to get big ships right. You could have fixed, gobble or turret weapons, each one less powerful than the last, but with the obvious benefits increasing. Then you could have someone man a turret, which made it all together more effective. But worst case the pilot could control all weapons on the ship. I have a group of friends I play with. Sometimes I’ll be able to man most of the ship, but chances of getting them all staying on my ship doing what I want to do for a long time? Slim… What got me was during the S42 demo, the Vanduul can solo the kingship. Now I want one of them!
It’s a common theme that they out right lie. When you buy into something Because of a promise then they change their mind and don’t deliver…well that’s not honest. If you need me, I will be in my Banu Merchantman. Lol
I feel the Polaris is already generating so much hype. I feel its starting to now beat the Carrack in terms of popularity. I have a feeling a year from now, it will probably become one of the top 4 Best in Show Ships during neat years IAE in Q4 2025.
Seeing as AI crew are confirmed many years away, there is zero excuses as to why every ship cant be manned by one, and then distributed power if more are invited.
90% of the Polari I have seen so far were so solo piloted. 😂 I crewed one a for a bit and we took down 4 others easily, they all tried ramming us desperately or sat in one place trying to missile or torp us lol
90%?? LOL, every single vid I see is literally not only one fully crewed Polaris but multiple Polaris as well...would love to see a Polaris solo combat vid, link?
@scottgust9709 people don’t want to record themselves blowing up solo players, feels dirty enough doing it in the first place 😅 I’m sure it’s just PTU things and excited Polaris owners wanting to test it out by themselves. PU (hopefully) will have more crewed ships.

Definately NOT a solo ship, but you know what, as a cargo runner its perfect, beats the bloatware 'Starliner' in every department....hell, you can strip all the ''torps/,missles and guns'', and you still have the PDC's, i have 2 until CIG rebalance my game, and watching dumbass pilots in MKII's get shredded is awesome while eating my Cornflakes.
Im a solo player and while its not unreasonable to say you cant solo a capital ship (npc crew backtracking not withstanding), engineering could mean ANY ship with an engineering teeminal such as the Zeus could be disadvantagious to solo. THAT pisses me off, basically relegating us to starter ships, like training wheels presumably until we "learn" to play with others
What's wrong with engineering for solo? You can just finish the fight and then repair everything yourself. The ship won't fall apart if you don't fix it immediately.
@@lordnai8260so in battle it is not necessary, if you see some critical damage on the panels, you can always jump into the quantum and calmly eliminate the damage, but I think often the damage will not be critical for combat and you will have enough time.

Captains Quarters Fire extinguishers Escape pods Food processors and water in the showers. Armor / Maelstrom (Currently docking has a few issues) And something to do with torps re-arming on a hangar in a city bug. All of theese seem like things that will be fixed/added in later. Thats why i like multiplayer games with a search function, thats why im excited that they will be added a party finder, but yeah im really bad at making friends so i like being forced with people :)
I say this as a primarily solo player I don't think that's solo players should be able to crew Capital ships effectively I think that's downright stupid and really undercuts the reason of having multi crue ships in the first place even if an NPC crew could be given I think it's ridiculous that they would be able to effectively crew a capital ship without the use of more than a single player purely because it would make it not viable to do teamwork and it's simply the truth like right now if you get in a fighter as a solo player you can access and use that fighter to 100% of its capacity if you get in a Polaris right now you can't you can't use it to any effectiveness except for moving the damn thing which is exactly what a ship like this is supposed to be the MPC crew idea I think would work fine for resource management but for weapons system use and Lead Engineering Management I don't think these are Physicians that an NPC should be able to crew and if they can they need to be at 25% effectiveness at the very maximum compared to a real human being because if not then there is no incentive to actually do the part of the massively multiplayer part of the game an MMORPG which is what this game is is entirely reliant on the interaction between players and the environment but primarily between players so if you have a large majority of players not interacting with that because they can run Capital ships or they can run the most powerful ships in the game effectively by themselves then what the f*** is the point especially if we're talking about the ship like the Polaris which doesn't necessarily need a fighter to reach its maximum Effectiveness seeing as it's Torpedoes are it's actual weapon if you could use those torpedoes by yourself you would be able to take on some of the biggest multi cruise ships in the game by yourself unless those ships could also be crude solo but then at this point you just have a s*** ton of ships and far less actual player to player interaction which is the entire thing that cig have been building the game around is player to player to player environment interaction and if you just remove one of those you lose a large majority of what is to make Star Citizen Star Citizen for example piracy is coming to an extent we have never seen before with pyro which means there's going to be a lot of ship to ship and then boarding interaction and if you have a fleet of NPC crew that can do what the f*** ever and it becomes incredibly frustrating the players who actually have skill in the game if they are consistently killed by a solo crude Polaris becomes less about the skill of the players facing each other and becomes more about the size of each other's wallet because if every Capital class ship in game was solo Crucible it really would be pay to win and Star Citizen has seen that it is going to be paid to win if they do that and they have rightfully moved in a different direction after pretty vocal Community backlash about the possibility of the game becoming entirely pay to win if the second point of yours that I want to address is the point about buying a ship and wanting it to work right away and how you expect that to be the way it is I don't know why you expect that Star Citizen has never had a track record of doing that in fact back when I first pledged the game we bought a ship never expecting its role to be in game anytime soon because at the time there was only a hanger and I feel like the more and more Star Citizen has progressed the less and less people realize that you're not buying these ships to get ahead you are buying these ships as a pledge to the project a crowdfunding Endeavor you aren't buying these ships or an advantage and if that is what you are doing buying these ships purely for an advantage then you can't be surprised when they told you that they work on a nonlinear development schedule for all of their ships and then the development schedule is nonlinear
People on Spectrum forget this and try to retcon things. When you show the years of CIG posts and videos, they get insulting. Yeah, that's the exact person I don't want to play with and is why I want NPC crew to solo.
Multicrew ships should put solo players into the position of the captain commanding the NPC crew to get things done, but lets face it bait and switch ultimately is the game the Roberts brothers are playing, they just call it "Star Cititzen". I am still mad the Carrack, which I upgraded to, doesn't look anything like concept, and the excuse given was ridiculous. Need more space inside the ship CIG? I could show you how scaling geometry in Blender / Maya / Houdini / Max etc. works ...
Why is there a question mark on the title of this video? At the state of the alpha we know the answer. The lack of the coding for AI and blades not withstanding CIG wants to get crew gameplay working and this is the live testing phase.
Soloable, has also never meant economically viable, its a capital class ship. If you dont want to play with other people, its the wrong ship for you. CIG have made that very clear since the beginning, just because they have promised you "can" do it, doesnt mean it makes sense to do so.
i want to know why ppl do this. the Polaris and the carrack cant be compared at all. also there carrack is one of the ships that still needs to go through gold standard.

CiG doesn't want to lose out on ship sales, blades and NPC crews will show up at some point, sooner if sales dipß. The majority of players are solo. All ships can be flown solo, Org's are full of weird socially awkward LARPers.
promises?! when has the bulk of promises made by CIG or Roberts ever been their focus? they already HAVE our money so why should they keep the promise made to get you to give them your money? how many unfinished ships have you owned? how many ships based on gameplay that's "coming soon" have you owned? how much gameplay you enjoyed been fubar'ed?...
So ai crew and blades were never promised as part of the promise of the Polaris. They have stated several times that they plan on npc crew you can hire and gunner blades. It’s an alpha, with a lot of more important things that need to be done or fixed. The servers barely work right three months out of the year. The shit you’re salty over the carrack not having isn’t even in game yet in any way lol. Anyone who bought a Polaris with the expectation to solo it and use ai crew/blades as soon as it was released was breathing some seriously stupid levels of hopium. I get being upset at shit not working or not being in game yet, but this is such a stupid thing to rant about. Hopefully ai crew and gunner blades become a thing in the near future as more and more large multi crew ships are on the horizon and not everyone wants to org up or play with randoms.

LOL!! welcome friend :D
Good video but I'm going solo the polaris.
me too brother :)
in any MMO there's content that's preferred solo, fairly easy solo, difficult solo, and impossible to solo.
They also said there would be private modable servers. The came has evolved/changed. There are lots of ships you can solo.
yes but excluding 1/2 the player base is not evolving anything. NPC will be improved upon so hopefully they still end up as crew.
An aircraft carrier isn't solo-able. I mostly play solo but i would find solo capital ships nuts.
@@Jim-tv2tk yea but with npc crew it would be fine
Not a solo ship ? Me and my 67 AI blades begs to differ....
Yea they did say you could. Oh well, not surprised. I just hope the large industrial ships are more solo friendly than the combat ones (Orion, Crucible).
@@swiftbow2110 Hopefully npc crew still comes in a timely fashion, if not maybe enough peeps will make noise n we will get them
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it as an owner of those ships and a solo player. I wouldn't really count on it. There are so many moving parts that it might be MORE demanding than a combat ship. Still, I own it. It'll look pretty in my hangar until she's needed.
12 crew ship according to the mess hall.
im still hopeful for npc crews. that said when i first backed star citizen my son was 1, by the time im ready to play i will have 3 children all ready to play with me so i guess ill have my own crew. should have had more kids :)
Slim…
What got me was during the S42 demo, the Vanduul can solo the kingship.
Cheers!
90% of the Polari I have seen so far were so solo piloted. 😂
I crewed one a for a bit and we took down 4 others easily, they all tried ramming us desperately or sat in one place trying to missile or torp us lol
90%?? LOL, every single vid I see is literally not only one fully crewed Polaris but multiple Polaris as well...would love to see a Polaris solo combat vid, link?
@scottgust9709 people don’t want to record themselves blowing up solo players, feels dirty enough doing it in the first place 😅
I’m sure it’s just PTU things and excited Polaris owners wanting to test it out by themselves. PU (hopefully) will have more crewed ships.

@@stavr7066 what you mentioned certainly works for PvE, but I would anticipate most player Polaris running with a snare ship (mantis) so people won’t be able to just run away. Only takes 3 people, Polaris pilot, torp operator, mantis pilot, don’t need a full crew.
@@HamTheWhaleYes, but you can always get away from them at cruise speed, go beyond the Mantis job and jump
I genuenly thought it was a joke title.... A capital ship is not a solo ship? What`s next "The bengal is not a solo ship?"
Bruh I understand the gripe about NPC crew but soloing a capital ship like this when engineering is on the horizon was always a pipe dream.
@@lordnai8260 I see your point absent npc crew
What's wrong with engineering for solo? You can just finish the fight and then repair everything yourself. The ship won't fall apart if you don't fix it immediately.
@@stavr7066 I mean sure you can repair it given time by yourself but it will be extremely inefficient especially in combat.
@@lordnai8260so in battle it is not necessary, if you see some critical damage on the panels, you can always jump into the quantum and calmly eliminate the damage, but I think often the damage will not be critical for combat and you will have enough time.
Use a ship designed for a single occupant. Lots of things "promised" have been sacrificed in the name of "The Only Constant".
🤷♂
I am very much aware that this ship is not soloable...
I got it cuz i like it. I like mah danger burrito
For me it will be a mobile base of operations. A home, away from home.
As far as i tested, the things that Do Not work on the Po-po are:
Engineering consoles
Repair & re-arm on the hangar pad
Bed logging
The Holo-map
Batteries
Server blades
Jump Drive (not to be confused with the Quantum drive!)
Captains Quarters
Fire extinguishers
Escape pods
Food processors and water in the showers.
Armor / Maelstrom
(Currently docking has a few issues)
And something to do with torps re-arming on a hangar in a city bug.
All of theese seem like things that will be fixed/added in later.
Its core functionality is there... big torps....
A Hangar.... a bit of pew-pews ?
What more do you want? (This one was added)
It`s looking good.
(Edit: Fixed my spelling mistakes)

Are you okay if it's NEVER soloable with NPC Crew?
I think they rethink the npc part. this because if a solo player can do it, an big org can do the same but on a larger scale. and we all gettting blasted away because of some people are entitled little kids.
It will be expensive for me to run. I thought about it.
Dammit I will ne soloing my javelin with 200 AI blades.
from the tital alone, AINT GONNA STOP ME, IMMA PUT MY GLADIUS IN THE HANGER AND USE IT AS MY BOX RUNNER and my gladius will be my defender ship LOL
edit: btw im not a solo player because of those things you listed, that actually sounded petty LMFAO, but i dont play with people not because i get annoyed with other players, i solo play because im introverted and really bad at making friends.
Right they wouldnt, the NPC crew would
Aw snap, u deleted that vid? Was saving it for a special moment 😊
!!!! LMFAO !!!! you caught that huh? :D
People on Spectrum forget this and try to retcon things. When you show the years of CIG posts and videos, they get insulting. Yeah, that's the exact person I don't want to play with and is why I want NPC crew to solo.
I really wonder who are all these hypothetical people that CIG is counting on to play the employee to someone else in a video game.
I could show you how scaling geometry in Blender / Maya / Houdini / Max etc. works ...
People are going to solo the Polaris. No video is going to stop people from doing so.
Def not! Im one of them!! :D
Pds is working
Seems mighty lonely.
Why is there a question mark on the title of this video?
At the state of the alpha we know the answer. The lack of the coding for AI and blades not withstanding CIG wants to get crew gameplay working and this is the live testing phase.
Well duh...you just need to upgrade to Idris to get everything else. Then the logical step from there is the Javelin. Good luck o7
It was never once stated that a solo player would be able to crew a Polaris or other capital sized ships. NPC crews and Blades help fill gaps at best.
yes it was with hire'able NPC's
@@scottgust9709How you intending on paying the wages of the 10+ crew needed to man the thing ? Do box missions with it ? Hauling ?
It’s not a solo players PvE ship. It’s made for a very specific, military focussed purpose like being part of a fleet or patrolling lowsec systems. It’s gonna be a big floating money sink until you’re dead broke and have to admit it was a terrible idea to even attempt it.

"I want to solo my capital ship!"
Okay. If people can solo their capital ships, me and my org are going to show up in twenty Idris and clown on you 24/7 and absolutely nothing in the game is going to be able to stop us.
missed the part where there are many roles in SC like exploration, mining, data running, salvage. we just avoid griefers entirely
I bought a Polaris, I play solo and will use it for transporting a roc for some mining or maybe cargo runs. Getting attacked is extremely rare unless you're a moron. CiG doesn't want to lose out on ship sales, blades and NPC crews will show up at some point, sooner if sales dipß. The majority of players are solo. All ships can be flown solo, Org's are full of weird socially awkward LARPers.
promises?! when has the bulk of promises made by CIG or Roberts ever been their focus? they already HAVE our money so why should they keep the promise made to get you to give them your money? how many unfinished ships have you owned? how many ships based on gameplay that's "coming soon" have you owned? how much gameplay you enjoyed been fubar'ed?...
ahh yes... advocate for a singleplayer mmo
mmo in simple terms is you are not alone and not you are forced to work with others
Multi-crew means multiple solo players playing together as a functioning team at the moment.
😂😂😂😂😂
LOL! well said :)
I’ll wait till he realizes that the pilot has missles 😂😂😂 no matter how many videos you put out there will be still people soloing capital ships.
Hey Im still learnin! LOL Ship was bugged and I will def be soloing the Polaris :)
@ you did great and made some great points!
Hopefully ai crew and gunner blades become a thing in the near future as more and more large multi crew ships are on the horizon and not everyone wants to org up or play with randoms.
things change dude...get over it
yea maybe when Soul Singer development starts you'll change your tune?
they have something for solo players.. its called SQ42
very true :)
Solo polaris pilots huffin the copium lol
Cool video, subscribed. 🫡 Will definetely check out this ship once I can afford the game, maybe find some friends in the verse to multicrew this with as none of my irl friends play🥹
