So all the Starlancers have 4 size 4 pilot weapons and 16 size 3 missiles. Also there are 3 variants announced as of yet. First is the max(cargo hauling one). 224scu capacity plus area for an ursa or you can put more cargo off grid if you don’t wanna store a vehicle. You can get upto like 350-400scu by storing off grid. Releasing this 22nd. Second is the TAC(combat/patrol). Basically it has medbay, extra large shield, fury hangar, drop seats with mounted guns and dual size 5 manned turrets in addition to those 2 remote turrets. Additionally it also has remote operated missile turrets. 96scu cargo plus vehicle area. To be released within next year possibly at Invictus. Third is the bld(base building) variant. Has 4 large drones and 128scu capacity. Same shields and weapons as max. We don’t know much about this one.
... it hasn't been revealed-yet... but there are embedded DPUs within the modular superstructure of the Habitation Area within the MAX. There definitely appears to be "scanning and server-data" on this ship. Which... isn't surprising given that this was billed as an "Exploration/Industrial" ship. Additionally... the upper-mast on this ship and the open-task-assignment currently for the co-pilot suggest as-much. I even remember seeing early conceptual art suggesting the pool-table was a "holo'-table".
Starlancer max is a surprisingly well done ship from front to back. The interior is well polished and you can tell a lot of care went into it. Now if they could just make that the “standard” for all ships. I’d think after a decade of building ships, they should be able to pump these out at a quicker pace. 8 years for Polaris is insanity. There are real ships that go from concept to production faster than that. I’m disappointed though that we do not know when we can expect the TAC to be flyable , it would be nice if they got it done before end of year.
They really have to fix ground vehicles and snub fighters. Basically, I should be able to spawn my ground vehicles in the hangar and it comes from one of the side rooms or snub fighters. Basically spawn the secondary stuff to a side room with the ability to store them there as well. That way I can properly plan for a mission or expedition.
There are smaller vehicle elevators that are in the larger hangars, they just aren't working yet. For now, you just have to summon all your ground/snubs, put them on the side, and then pull the larger ship out. Hopefully they finally get those working because that is a bit tedious atm.
"Spawning" things will be a thing of the past soon. You will have to load what you want into the ship from your hangar and what you don't bring, you don't have. It's all part of physicalized inventory.
I'm so glad everyone likes it. I've obsessed over this ship since they announced it, my girlfriend can attest to that. The top-down view of the ship is my background on both monitors of my pc. Absolutely GORGEOUS ship and I love that its going to be my daily driver. I'll have a couple ATLS in the back as well as a nursa for respawn. To someone who only plans on having 2 people in this ship at any given time, its absolutely perfect and feels ALMOST capital class sized in the amount of room and amenities you have. I did notice you failed to mention that there is a ladder right across the lifts in case of power failure, but overall, amazing video ❤
Tallest/largest vehicle you can fit in the rear is the Storm tank, but if you want load a nursa or something you can do that without taking up any of the rear cargo grid space on the sides
I've been giving the Max a try. IMHO it flies a lot nicer than expected. My biggest gripe is loading - the ATLS has a hard time getting 24 and 16 scu crates into the belly bay without beating the Max to death. Most of the time the crates just end up flying away at superman speed. Using the max lift is a lit easier and the crates snap to the cargo grid with no problem. However, getting those crates off at delivery is another story. 2 24 scu and 1 16 scu crates will fit each side of the belly bay but they're jammed in there. It really takes some patience and finesse getting them off. Once you have the first crate off the rest come easy. I have packed the rear bay with another 4 24 scu and 2 16 scu crates though getting the crates not attached to the cargo grid to stay is a chore. They really like bouncing around but once you get them in they're solid. I do like the Max better than I originally thought but not good enough to pledge it. If we had a little more room in the belly bay to load and offload and if the entire rear bay was a cargo grid I'd jump on it in a heart beat. The narrow view out the front isn't much of a problem for those trading up from a Connie.
The more and more I look at it, the more and more I love this ship. Very functional, and I have no real gripes with any of it. For a Connie competitor, who could ask for more? Decent cargo, vehicle loading without infringing on cargo space, very nice crew amenities, and excellent muti-deck traversal with the three elevators. It's the first ship from Misc that I liked from the get-go. The Starfarer was a ship that made me fall in love with Misc's retro-future exteriors. The Hull A/C it was the interiors, but the Max is the full package of both interior/exterior excellence in design.
To be honest, the S-max is supposed to compete against the Connie with its nominal 224 scu cargo but it is more in competition with the M2, Carrack and Cattapillar with their - "tested by myself" almost 470 SCU cargo space
@@VonJay Unfortunately, I couldn't sell the cargo because, as usual, a server error messed up my trip but if I use the data from the "Handelplanner" from "SpielerBlau" as a basis I would have earned about 1 million aUEC but today there was an update for the 3.24 PTU so I'll try again to be able to say exactly how much profit I'm making. S-max cannot compete with the Starlifters, caterpillar and of course not with the Carrack. It fall behind in all aspects, cargo space, shields, price etc. Its more competing with the Taurus - But there are very few ships of its class. Its a very unique ship

I'm now in full agreement with what I saw earlier today. There needs to be a center captains chair set slightly behind the first two seats in the cockpit. That view would be absolutely amazing.
I appreciate that you waited to look at the ship fresh with no spoilers. It was good to get honest first impressions. I'm right there with ya I love this ship! Also it looks short but the back ramp can accommodate a Nursa 👍
The starlancer looks so much like those old camper trailers that were aluminum here in the states. It just screams 1950s to me. Sorta like Fallout. And not a fan, and the viewscreen hurts my head as someone who tries to land using the cockpit when possible without the outside cameras.
Love the ship... it looks great. Awesome to see your reaction to it as well Olli - thank you. Only thing that irks me is the removal of the holographic MFDs in recent PTU patches. Not have MFDs in your field of view when piloting feels like an oversight to me. Sure, as a cargo hauler you don't always need to use your MFDs to adjust power or check things. But would be better to have them there instead of awkwardly having to look down to the ones on the dash.

Thank you Olli43, for an otherwise excellent video!!
CIG is getting really good at ship design. The attention to detail, conservation of space, consistent design language, and feels like it a usable ship.
The cargo is definitely not a drawback, 224 scu locked to grid with enough open space in the rear bay to put a (N)Ursa + ATLS in between. People managed to stuff nearly 300 in it (off grid) when not bringing vehicles. I've experimented loading 2 rows of hover bikes on the middle cargohold left & right but that proved to be rather... risky. I think it's a great ship and very practical. Nice how quickly doors and ramps open, and how even the elevator works at a decent speed compared to some other vessels. Only things I dislike are the very slow base speed (much slower than even a Polaris, almost as slow as a Reclaimer) and I'm not a fan of the limited view from the cockpit since I prefer staying in first person view when flying.
I love my starlancer, been flying it heaps. Real good daily and spacious too as seen. look forward to the TAC coming out. As I will be going for that one as that suits more my playstyle.
I do enjoy the MISC ships like this and the Freelancer. They give such huge Firefly vibes. I also just like the look of them, which if why I probably also want a Freelancer as a solo-medium all-purpose ship. Don't like the look of the Cutlass, and the C1 Spirit seems too big for basically the same thing. Just have to get used to the small window at the front. It still needs it's Gold Standard as far as I'm aware, so maybe it'll be even better... Or worse. The Starlancer is definitely a super cool ship; definitely on my list for medium freight.
... MAX... is best-ship. Note: there are embedded DPUs within the modular-superstructure of the Habitation Area. This highly suggests to me that there is integrated server-space and scanning aboard this ship... when that gameloop becomes active. I think the mid-ship sensor-mast and the lack of co-pilot assignment, at-the-moment, suggest this as-well. This ship was originally billed as "Industrial/Exploration".
I'm really like the HUD on this ship, very sleek design. It is slow as a dude after back surgery though. Surprisingly it turns and rolls pretty nice. I think I will keep this one, it has pretty much everything I want in a ship. Actual escape pods, Habs for everyone, good cargo, kitchen and entertainment areas, elevator and a ladder for backup. I like it doesn't have tons of turrets but just two so crew requirements is low. Lots of Quantum fuel as well. I was just flying around on Lyria watching the sun rise thinking this could be my home. Bed log out is working as well, I've done it twice in space now.
Do you think the techno lords will ruin a great technology like mirrors with a walmart fuckery like the camera mirror? I do. Mainly cause of the apple smooth your wrinkles feature... never have to acknowledge old age. Lol
4:05 that new interface is so terrible compared to the old way of holding f and pushing the button on the display. That at least felt intuitive. This new interface looks like garbage.
Thing is it's not new. I just think the main elevator has a bug where you don't have the screen interactions currently. I honestly do not believe CIG intend for this to be the way to interact with elevators generally.
Personally I like that the hanger is so loud. You would expect that the air handlers would have to be huge to keep the air clean inside then. That would make a lot of noise. So I think it’s a realistic feature.
Love this ship. Wasn’t sure on the Citizencon ship review. Once inside I instantly thought I could see myself living on this ship 😅 Sorry Zeus I found my new daily driver!
MISC ships have a very 1930s Deco feel to them. Even buildings and trains were smoothed into graceful curves. The Starlancer line are the first ones I like.
I'm partial to the black/grey/yellow color scheme, there's something very no-nonsense about it. Ship gives me mercenary vibes, tacticool aesthetics, and professionalism. If this thing is an absolute tank then I can overlook the fact that it is mainly a cargo ship despite its combat-ready vibes.
I think every manufacturer needs to make a corsair competitor. Because it's like the perfect size of ships. This is good, and I'd say crusader has theirs as well. I'd like to see more of this kind of ship
Love this ship, reminds me of Starbug. My only big complaint is that the third elevator is excessive. The space would have been better served for a small medbay and extra storage.
F'ing love this 😭😭😭 Only 2 more days until I can finally test the free fly, will be playing every day and experiencing as much as I can before going back to watching yt vids 🥹 Thank you for the video! 🫡
The only real downside to the max is that its almost twice the footprint of the cat with 1/2 the cargo. It really should have been just the Starlancer and the max should have had more cargo at the cost of hab space. They could have removed the whole lower deck and the cat walk and made the center of the ship the loading aria with the center drop being where you load cargo similar to the connie.
Yeah I agree, especially since you can compare it with the freelancer and freelancer max, where the max is significantly larger and even has double the main engines to compensate. I could totally see this being a base starlancer with a max rivaling a Hercules or cat for sheer cargo volume, basically have maybe one remote turret, two hab cabins and reduced rec area and then have one giant cargo space. Especially given that MAX is already used as a designator for a cargo over everything else variation of an existing ship
Freelancer was more an answer to the Drake Cutlass black/etc. This is more in line with The Drake Corsair, constellation, etc... Also, with that belly cargo bay animations, imagine 30 mates online and you drop down to a enemy location and 20 jump out guns blazing and 10 jump out in Titan Exosuits... really W40k or RDA Avatar vibes right there.
What I love is that this ship seems like the best ship layout for a cargo ship that seems realistic but with good amenities compared to DRAKE. I could see myself being a nomad cargo trader living out of this ship.
I love the MISC and I did get a starlancer max myself. The polaris I did have but actuly did chance that since I have to maney big ships ( BMM, Orion, Oddesery, Endeavor ) so wanted to get some more low crew ships and solo ships too haha
I pledged the TAC and they gave me the Max as a Loaner. Put Fury's in the cargo fold out, snub carrier! (I think CIG should have cut the doubles bed in half to make it a bigger living quarters,)
what strikes me the most about these new ships is just how much more thought-out they are in terms of actual player use; they really make older ships like the poor caterpillar seem unusable
The starlancer should have a Starlancer DUR (the long range exploration variant) just because it’s like the big brother to the freelancer, which should feature a bigger fuel tank, and a more comfortable interior to be out there for longer periods
One thing I've noticed about the ships in SC is that they are quite rigid when turning. I feel like they should have a more floaty/boaty kind of manuvering behaviour.
The bathroom and kitchen taps have to deal with whether the ship was designed by the NA or the EU ship dev team. The NA team use single tap and the EU taps use dual taps
I melted my star farer for a Star Lancer after free flying it. It's probably the largest ship you can solo in game and will offer a lot of different roles.
Corsair... cargo capacity: 72 SCU. Starlancer MAX? 224 SCU. Not even close in comparison. However, there IS a Starlancer coming eventually that is more comparable: The Starlancer TAC. Well, sorta comparable. The cash price is higher, and what you get is 96 SCU of cargo - similar to the Corsair, twice the shield generators, all large Systems components, 2 med beds, and a Muray hangar. So, $250 gets you a hauler in the MAX or the Corsair, $295 WB / $330 gets you a whole lot more ship.
Even in the future people still don’t have don’t have toilet paper on there ships and covid evolves into space covid. That people still panic buy and it’s a rare commodity.
hopefully some day ship's elevators and ramps will have soft close spring so they can adapt to terrain better or open on rock ect, this front side elevator and i'm sure the cargo ones too are picking up entire ship into bouncing state if ground is not even edit: you probably did not delete shaders, the camera mirror flickers there with the cam on top
Biggest issue ... The armoury and suit locker is right next to the air lock , easy access for boarding pirates , while crew have to go all the way back to the habitation room to take the elevator down to the rear cargo before having to run through both cargo sections to get to the same armoury and suit lockers. If pirates gain access that way , it would be so easy to stop the crew especially by deploying the side cargo doors forcing the crew to be funneled on that narrow walkway. Very badly designed for access
I don't think it will be that big of an issue as all the doors have locks, they just don't work at the moment. CIG have stated that ship permissions will be extended to a room by room basis, at least that is the intention, to allow for owner discretion. When we'll see this is anybodies guess, but once it comes in, we'll have a lot more protection from bad guys, pirates, etc.
I bit too agile for its size and its overall speed is half of what it should be. Needs a 100% speed boosts. 100 m/s is way to slow for this small of a ship that has 3 big engines. Other than that its a solid ship. The TaC version will be great for bounty hunting play that requires more than just shooting ships out of the sky.
i just realised this can be a dropship by filling the middle cargo section with argo atls and deploying by lowering the floor and jumping out
Somebody had made a video about this.
yooo that's some Avatar vibes right there, sadly we don't have combat mechs yet haha
Prepare for Titanfall

Or if you get a few pulses you got a mini attack squad

I think the mid-ship sensor-mast and the lack of co-pilot assignment, at-the-moment, suggest this as-well. This ship was originally billed as "Industrial/Exploration".
YES, well done habitation!!! That's all I want for a ship where I am supposed to actually live in
Wont lie, the Jazz he added in the background as he walked through the ship just made me want the Starlancer even more.
It's definitely a camera. Mirrors don't work that way in real life but cameras do.
Do you think the techno lords will ruin a great technology like mirrors with a walmart fuckery like the camera mirror? I do. Mainly cause of the apple smooth your wrinkles feature... never have to acknowledge old age. Lol
I unexpectedly fell in love with this ship in the free fly tryout.
Those Misc design based on Airstream "Classic Rides" from the 1070 Travel Trailers
That is so true. Didnt realize till now lol
This is pretty close to the layout of a Firefly, which I love!
4:05 that new interface is so terrible compared to the old way of holding f and pushing the button on the display. That at least felt intuitive. This new interface looks like garbage.
i agree, why not just standardize the exterior screen for all this or make the inside buttons to push without holographic wheel
Smooth jazz and Misc ships go together like fine wine and well ...me hahah
Love this ship. Wasn’t sure on the Citizencon ship review. Once inside I instantly thought I could see myself living on this ship 😅 Sorry Zeus I found my new daily driver!
Agree about MISC ships and retro: they're like how folks back in the 1920s thought future spacecraft would be.
If this thing is an absolute tank then I can overlook the fact that it is mainly a cargo ship despite its combat-ready vibes.
welcome back. hope you and your fam are well
The windows and that kitchen bar alone makes me wanting to CCU to this from my Corsair.
My first pledge was the Freelancer back when Star Citizen was just a concept. This is what I wanted my Freelancer to be.
10:54 the reason some places had two taps is because hot water was not sanitary. Perhaps it’s the same on this work based ship.
F'ing love this 😭😭😭
Only 2 more days until I can finally test the free fly, will be playing every day and experiencing as much as I can before going back to watching yt vids 🥹 Thank you for the video! 🫡
Yep can see it now, pirates rolling up on you and you open the cargo bay with five crew on each side with rail guns 😎
“Honestly it’s not drake… Which is good for everyone.”, this hurt me since my hanger atm is only drake ships. Like what’s wrong with drake?😭
CIG keeps nerfing them.
I will be adding this to my hanger. It will go well with my Freelancer DUR.
I'm excited to see how they rework the Freelancer when I see what they've done with this ship (Freelancer's big brother)
Yep.
The max should have been the base model.
Great looking vessel and nice graphics
been loving the Starlancer Max this ship I been using to run cargo
Great music and video!!!
I like what you did with the music there :)
If Olli's gonna go back and watch CitizenCon would love to see his reaction of the SQ42 demo lol
Olli is a vampire, confirmed.
Yeah I love Misc, besides the cockpit which needs to have some monitors around to give more visability
The TAC is going to be an amazing ship imo...
14:54 olli, you can fit an ursa in the back comfortably with room for 2 32scu crates
It's fantastic but still prefer the Corsair at this price point.
What I love is that this ship seems like the best ship layout for a cargo ship that seems realistic but with good amenities compared to DRAKE. I could see myself being a nomad cargo trader living out of this ship.
never been a big fan of misc but the starlancer is really awesome i loooooooove it
I love the MISC and I did get a starlancer max myself. The polaris I did have but actuly did chance that since I have to maney big ships ( BMM, Orion, Oddesery, Endeavor ) so wanted to get some more low crew ships and solo ships too haha
Olli, the Ursa rover and Tumbril Storm fits.
I hope they add the ability to play music on the ship. just for the vibes. :)
Man I love this ship, I wonder how the TAC will be
Love the music!
Heh, the Starlancer DURP.
It can have a proper Ursa back ramp like the MAX but also scanner stuff and maybe a fuelscoop like Origin cars.
One thing I've noticed about the ships in SC is that they are quite rigid when turning. I feel like they should have a more floaty/boaty kind of manuvering behaviour.
This has quickly become my favorite ship.
The habs are my favourite an actually nice little bedroom and enough of them so the crew doesnt have to hotbunk
The bathroom and kitchen taps have to deal with whether the ship was designed by the NA or the EU ship dev team. The NA team use single tap and the EU taps use dual taps
I have this ship and it take out enemies like a connie with all the additional benefits of space for cargo and crew.
I melted my star farer for a Star Lancer after free flying it. It's probably the largest ship you can solo in game and will offer a lot of different roles.
dude, you're always alone. now this does'nt bother me at all, usually. but if you have such a big ship you need some company. Keep up the good work!
Corsair... cargo capacity: 72 SCU.
And the Constellation is also a direct competitor to both.
The updated fire fly ship!
Freelancers (even the MAX) is a lot smaller than a connie, this is just a little bigger size wise, but does the same thing function wise as the Taurus
Did you know that when polaris takes rly heavy damages , there is water in faucets of some rooms ( flowing in the bowl wich is full of water)
I really like it. It kind of checks a lot of boxes for me.
It's Serenity!
Kind of reminds me of "Firefly" from the side view where the wings won't be so visible.
when will you react to CitizenCon MyFriend Btw Take Your time i hope you will upload live full but do whatever you want much love from the Netherlands
If they made the rear cargo ramp retractable you could probably fit a small ship in that back cargo space.....
Even in the future people still don’t have don’t have toilet paper on there ships and covid evolves into space covid. That people still panic buy and it’s a rare commodity.
hopefully some day ship's elevators and ramps will have soft close spring so they can adapt to terrain better or open on rock ect, this front side elevator and i'm sure the cargo ones too are picking up entire ship into bouncing state if ground is not even
edit: you probably did not delete shaders, the camera mirror flickers there with the cam on top
9:10 new feature in progress, real time multiserver pool.. 4 more years
I would play the game 24/7 if there was pool, blackjack and everything ingame
@@RandomGuy-mh1ug I’m pretty sure a few of the ships have chess
Biggest issue ... The armoury and suit locker is right next to the air lock , easy access for boarding pirates , while crew have to go all the way back to the habitation room to take the elevator down to the rear cargo before having to run through both cargo sections to get to the same armoury and suit lockers.
If pirates gain access that way , it would be so easy to stop the crew especially by deploying the side cargo doors forcing the crew to be funneled on that narrow walkway.
Very badly designed for access
There is a ladder right outside the EVAC area which takes you down to the airlock entrance, so pretty quick to get down there.
Cant believe ollie was the bay harbor butcher
I bit too agile for its size and its overall speed is half of what it should be. Needs a 100% speed boosts. 100 m/s is way to slow for this small of a ship that has 3 big engines. Other than that its a solid ship. The TaC version will be great for bounty hunting play that requires more than just shooting ships out of the sky.
