I was very happy to hear more about dissociation. There's much confusion about it being a problem vs normal (unless D.I.D.). I'm trying to understand how to untangle it from cptsd symptoms like shame and self loathing.

Hi Robin! I understand the confusion! It is normal, but can be a problem too. For example, if we dissociate and miss that we are approaching a red light at an intersection, that could cause a citation for failing to stop; or a crash resulting in injury or death. I think it's so important for us to realize that everyone dissociates at times, AND that understanding our unconscious reactions helps us be able to be more present to our own inner world as well as being able to show up fully within relationships. Thanks for your comment!

holy shit... functional freeze huh? All you did was offer one word and by that you gave me the tool to explain my entire upbringing and personality.

I felt the same way when she said that. I just spent a week with Arielle in training and she is so wonderful. I highly recommend checking out the resources she shares on her website and on RUclips. She offers free Vagus Nerve Yoga classes which are very healing. Good luck on your journey and thank you for listening.
