      Lars had a nose for asking to slow down the tempo. It gives a lot more power to the riff, it makes it heavier and darker. And that groove is just perfect for this song. On the other hand, (and don't get me wrong, I love Megadeth, I'm not saying this to spit on Dave) The Mechanix sounds rough and rushed, and seriously, I don't like this version at all. Lowering the tempo of the song was a genius idea. Some songs sound better with a higher tempo, others need a slower tempo to release their potential. Playing fast for the sake of playing fast doesn't make sense, the tempo should serve the music.

      No it's not - the tonality and chord progression are totally different. The progression of that Four Horsemen riff is actually the same as the "Your love for me has got to be real" verse from N.I.B. by Black Sabbath (E, D, C, B, which is a descending progression in the key of E Aeolian and very metal sounding). The chord progression in Sweet Home Alabama is D, C, G, which is major key and country music-ish. Anyone who knows music theory or who just has a good ear can tell that the tonality and feel are different - the only similar thing is the picking pattern.

    The fact that Lars is a lazy drummer is actually one of things I like about Metallica because there's not as much of that speed shit and fast drums that get a little bit annoying with other thrash bands.

    • @metalmacabre9991
      @metalmacabre9991 2 года назад +2

      Its not that lars is lazy, he just can't play that speed, and that's what separates thrash from other types of metal. Maybe groove metal is more your style, and that's not a put down or anything bro. Most people can't handle that about thrash metal. Im a death metal drummer, well im a drummer first, but i played death metal, and thrash metal before that, you cant get to death metal without thrash, its one of the elements in death metal, however when i just wanted to jam, without hauling ass all the time, a buddy of mine turned me onto Doom metal, sludge metal, and stoner rock/metal. It was like discovering metal for the first time. It was like getting back to the basics of metal like sabbath, it combines 60s/70s sound but tuned down, it's simple but fuck its heavy. Doom metal is just as heavy if not heavier than anything else, its just slow, and sludgy. Check it out if you haven't already.

    • @ronnato162
      @ronnato162 2 года назад

      @@metalmacabre9991 I would say that speed matters more for speed metal than thrash metal. Megadeth also made a lot of songs that were slower and didn't have any blast beats or fast outbursts and they're still considered one of the best thrash bands. Bands like Destruction are more like a hybrid of speed metal and thrash metal.
