Stoke is grim in some parts but you didn’t take the opportunity to look at the parts that are quite the opposite. You came with a pre conceived notion and negative expectations and didn’t try very hard to find anything else. Stoke is typical of many post industrial towns and cities. It has a history of low wages and poor public health. What it does have are friendly open people and a surprising number of people settling in the area from more expensive parts of the country. Behind a geographically long thin city beautiful countryside is never more than a few miles away and it’s less than 30 minutes drive to the Peak District. In the interests of balance come again with a positive approach. Have enjoyed your videos for many years.

      List goes on

The problem with purchasing listed buildings is that the cost to repair and maintain them is massive and very strict, having to use period correct materials and techniques.. often they sit abandoned for years because of the lack of goverment support, usually the council will provide grants to stop them falling apart but it's no guarantee. If the government want to protect listed buildings they need to provide more support and incentives to buy and maintain the buildings otherwise they will just rot away.

So the OWNER COMPLIED and let the weather and the local insects have a good time. Naturally it eventually collapsed and is no more. Replaced with a more modern structure alongside the A21 Twixt Blueboys and Lamberhurst. About as much sense as that WANNABE GANGSTER EFFNIK and the GAGGLE of DENSE HARPIE BRAIN DEAD DITCHES.

Provocation , escalation and lies to the police should tell you something about this trust. I wonder if the vulnerable are being threatened or verbally abused ,this is deeply disturbing how they all were on defence straight away ,what kind of abuse are they hiding ?? It's deliberate Charlie... we didn't want the Germans finding the town center back in the day 🤣🤣🤣 While I was a student at Cauldon College, back in the early 80's, the Bell & Bear (derelict pub @8:28) was a top destination. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the scantily clad serving wenches.
Stoke has always been a bit of a dump, but Hanley was the life and soul of the party and remained so right up until the lite 90's when, like so many other cities in the Midlands and the North, we saw a massive down turn in prosperity with globalisation and the out sourcing of the fine manufacturing we were all so very proud of.
The Potter spirit still burns brightly in your average Stokie but the battle gets harder to fight as each decade passes, even my endless optimism is slowly fading but I still try to talk up the place and promote the good side of life here. There are many worse places in this world so I'll not be moving on any time soon.
    Cheers me duck.

Well said, my friend. The city IS a dump and is not recovering, however, it was not globalisation but naked corporate greed that destroyed our once proud industry. Generations of proud, talented, skilled workers thrown onto the scrap heap by greedy managers looking for a quick, easy buck by sending manufacturing overseas for cheap labour costs and high, short term, profits, knowing that it would be short lived, but happy to take their large bonuses, whilst the folk that built and were the backbone of the industry got nothing and were abandoned. Very sad state of affairs.
I am still a proud “Stokie”, always will be, but now live in Stone, which is still quite a nice place, for now. I visit Stoke regularly but am always happy to leave as it never gets any better, only worse with every visit.
Well done for standing up for the place and sticking with it, hope things improve in the future.

I suppose, in it's rawest state, cooperation (globalisation) should be good for both parties but, as you correctly point out, this doesn't taken into consideration the eye-watering levels of greed the top 1%'ers seem to have.
I did have to confess that I had a long term plan to flying South and not just for the Winter. But, having owned a little bit of paradise in deepest, darkest, South West France for 15 years, that dream came to an end in 2020 following a dose of something nasty that remain with me for life.
Happily, the last 56 years have been good to me here in Stoke so the decision was made to stay, and I'm really quite happy.
Now the weather is on the up, I'll be back out there on the trike showing and talking Stoke up for the great city it once was while promoting the brighter side of Stokie life that remains strong and as defiant as ever.

Remembered by the mnemonic: Tom Brown had short fat legs! Hanley is the main city centre. There's nothing much of interest in the town of Stoke itself. Intresting video. I like the camera settings in this one - everything bright, lucid, steady and constantly in focus with no vast areas of dark, shadowy blackness. You can fully and clearly discern the various shades of grey, in fact just how you'd see the imagery with your own eyes if you were there - just how I prefer it in these street documentary videos. It truly broke my heart, a little, to see Stoke town centre so fking delapidated :(
I'm actually from Kidsgrove, another dump, but I lived my adult life (23 years) in Longton.

Stoke is known for its micro climate, with accumulated cloud cover and associated rainfall as it’s just at the foot of the Peak District which is quite mountainous.

Charlie, That Car (at 8:49) is a *Zephyr Zodiac Mk3* , from 1962
It was massively desirable in its day, as it had a 'Whopping' 20bhp over the previous MkII, of which it replaced - and it became very popular with Police forces across the nation for its 'spritely progress' - and was immortalised in the show, TV Soap 'Z-Cars' in the 60's
Gotta love the Americana style 'Fins' at the back . . . . . but a Cadillac, it is NOT !

Zephyr zodiac. Was amazed when seeing it as my dad had 1 in the 70s all done in star's and stripes. We went camping in Anglesey and took the wrong lane and it took us about hour n half to turn it around with nowt but rock walls either side and no turning or verge to use the extra space. The others in the Morris minor Van was turned, gone and camping before we turned. Awesome times though as from the 5 of us that went a few times a year I'm the only 1 left. But awesome memories came flooding back when i seen the car

I have written an appropriate review on Google and sent the following email to their customer care...
"Whoever is responsible for the rude and disgraceful people who work in this facility needs to be aware of how these animals are behaving toward the public.
Shouting and swearing at the public is not a good look and I suggest that this team of foul-mouthed scumbags is retrained in human interaction.
Do they have nothing to do inside the building? They all seem to pour out and surround members of the public who get a bit to close and try to intimidate them by swearing and shouting.
Frankly, this lot should be let go and professional care workers hired in their place.
I can provide video evidence if you feel that my claims are not factual.
God help anyone who has need of this facility."

Why would you do that when all you have seen is a well edited clip from an antagonistic egomaniac.
You review is based on the biased video edit of a man who makes money from a following of quite frankly, gullible people who believe all they see in these videos and freely pass judgement with some awful comments that are contradictory to what the videos claim to be about.
