A person from Chester is referred to as a Cestrian, yes confusing to say the least!
Loved your wit, banter & comedy & you've also brought to my attention many things which I'd never noticed before, such as dates on buildings as it's easy to take things for granted & not notice details when you walk the streets & live in a place for many years.
I left Chester to live in Ireland over 20 years ago, but am frequently back to visit my folks who still live there.
My father also has great links with Manchester so I was please to see your Wilmslow Road / Curry Mile vlog, as many a childhood Sunday afternoon / evening was spent there.
This is the first time I've commented on one of your videos & have watched many of them over the last few weeks as earlier this year, your channel was brought to my attention by Auditing Britain; it's a shame you never met when he came to Manchester!

This show was adapted for television as The Charlie Chester Show in 1949 and became a stand up and sketch show for the next 11 years. Chester's radio shows included A Proper Charlie and That Man Chester. Thanks for this vid, Charlie, saved me the effort of going to town as it's over three years since I went to the Co-Op bank (now closed 2 yrs ago). I live just over a mile away in Upton, and was born in a house near the station 72 yrs ago. I know you were impressed but Chester has traded on it's Roman heritage for many years hence lots of Asian tourists who used to wear masks in the 70' and 80's out of courtesy ton the locals. Just a couple of small points the coffee shop used to be The Regal cinema. When you stood next to the clock you were next to my Grandad's pub called The Kings Arms (know locally as The Kitchen, closed many years ago, and now a bank), and the layout of one of the rooms preserved in the museum. My Grandad used to serve the black American soldiers when other pubs wouldn't. My mum met Clarke Gable who slept there one night as the Grosvenor opposite was full. You would have found the amphitheatre interesting that's where the kids go on trips. The bus station has a grass roof. Was controversial at the time. The monk was a Franciscan St Francis Church next to magistrate Court. I'll leave it at that, you did a good job incidentally, made a change from agro vids. Chester cub.

People from Chester are called Cestrians. The c is pronounced as in ice.
I live a few miles from Chester and have visited many times. One thing I was surprised you didn't mention was the rows, the shops above the shops. I don't know if they are unique to Chester, but they are certainly unusual.
The remarks about Chester being fake were a bit silly. All buildings have to be maintained and updated if they are to remain useful, and it's not exactly a secret that they have been rebuilt and altered over time. Chester has been maintained a lot more tastefully than most places.
Sadly, Chester has its own small army of crackheads who wander through the city. Some of them are very noisy and unpleasant. Nowhere near as bad as Manchester, but bad enough.
The quality of buskers is very high in Chester. Unfortunately, some of them are annoyingly loud.
I like Chester a lot, but not at night at weekends.

Finally a properly local CV video! Love it! Chester is definitely in decline like most other UK cities, but it is really clinging on to it's past histories. Used to be a great place to go in the 90's, heaving all the time.

Charlie, speaking purely from the perspective of a professional armour-restorer, I believe the correct term for the shields the kids are carrying is 'Oilus Barrelus' 😉⚔️
Brilliant recycling... Truly!! ANYTHING that inspires a new generation and also let's them feel the weight and imagine the toil is fine by me! ⚒️🏆👍
