I actually like how Kong looks in close-up shots. It almost looks like a comic book style. If they went all the way and made everything look more comic book-like some of the horrible graphics might have worked.

If redfall had better AI and less bugginess it genuinely would be an interesting and fun little game. Not $70 fun but maybe $30 tops. It's only saving grace is gamepass.

This is dumb thinking. We have no idea what happened with this game. And shielding every dev from any criticism in every game is hurting the industry as much as producers forcing terrible features and poor worker conditions is.

I mean, we can speculate, but we don't know with certainty and devs do have a responsibility. I get that it wouldn't be ok to go on an all out rant, threatening their children or something, but they do have a share of the fault. I doubt they made a masterpiece and the publisher rejected it, asking for a pre-alpha version.
Why should that be a prop? It's a given. This pro-dev narrative is just that: a narrative. A bullshit one that just wants to create a victim class within the industry.
This game is an amazing achievement for PS2 graphics.

Garbage tie-in/licensed IP games are coming back in a big way and i'm here for it.
I looked at the 36 steam reviews, of the 8 or so good reviews, 1 was actually serious. That person said: "About 40 minutes into it, and it's pretty good! Really picked up after the tutorial. Combat is simple and easy to pick up with a little practice! Graphics wise; it was a low budget game made by a smaller dev team. I grew up with a DS, so I'm not picky. Other people saying "This looks like a PS2 game" have clearly never played a PS2 game. This looks more PS3/Xbox 360 era, which is fine by me. :) Look forward to playing more!" Goes to show you that no matter how shit a game is, someone will still like it.

Matty, you being a Nickelodeon kid makes so much sense (as a Nick kid myself).
My first Avatar game was on the DS... I loved it. Didn't follow the story at all, except for the main points such as going to Omashu... had decent combat and even puzzles, with some decent-looking character models (decent in general, not just for the DS). The one complaint I had with it would have been the purple cabbages, as some were unobtainable if you missed them in earlier levels, and I even had only one left to get several chapters prior which would have been traded with the cabbage merchant for some really good bonus (forget exactly, but think it was a good stat boost or what not). I even replayed a GBA version on an emulator, which while not as good as the DS version in terms of visuals and gameplay, was a solid foundation that reminded me of a ton of the DS game (like a remaster of old features wrapped in an entirely new game). I never liked Harry Potter as much as my mother, but I still bought Hogwarts Legacy shortly after its release, as I loved the look of it; were some company able to make an avatar-themed game that is comparable quality to Hogwarts Legacy, I feel like it might be a contender for game of the year, if not one hell of a top seller.

Currently i'm playing Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition, that is rougly half the prize of this game, with better graphics. 150+ hour RPG EPIC.

To my recollection it was reviewed as like a high 7/10. Good, but not that noteworthy In the years since a cult following has popped. Some people appreciate it as a novelty for its time, other people have a lot of nostalgia for it, and others still just like the Kong segments.

Before anyone starts ranting about the developers, Gamemill (the publisher) only gave IguanaBee (the development studio) a year to finish this game, starting from June 2nd last year. And with the scale of this game, versus the small size of the studio, things certainly don't work

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned in the comments (or the video since I’m just starting), it’s based on the Netflix animated series that released earlier this year but a lot of people seemingly aren’t aware. Maybe they were rushed to release it before the show’s next season.

Little retro fact before 2k was the wrestling game maker, all the other games was made of THQ was the maker of that types of games, like Smackdown VS RAW 2008 and 09 have CM punk on the cover of the game. @MrMattyPlays Smackdown vs Raw 09 with punk on the cover was a good game.
It's sad this is both visually and both gameplay-wise is outclassed by a PS2 game in the same category.
Peter Jackson's King Kong official PS2 game was absolutely awesome. I remember it always stood out for me amongst the many movie licensed games in the 2000s. That game really didn't feel like a cheap cashgrab but as if you actually were inside the movie. You were stranded on skull island and had no idea what'll be the next thing trying to take your life. Weapons were extremely rare and only with limited ammo worth a few shots so you really had to conserve them for the beefy creatures and rely on bones and spears instead. Controlling Kong also felt extremely satisfying, every step, punch and charge felt weighty and powerful, as if there are really massive tons of muscle behind every movement.

SM2 is an 8. The open world activities are so outdated and boring. Also the game is the same as the first two. Nothing special or in "awe" about SM2.
