The two Ferrari Testarossa's supplied by Ferrari for Miami Vice weren't genuine white cars - They were originally black. The cars didn't show up very well on screen during the night time shooting, and so the production team asked for a pair of white cars from Ferrari. At the time, every Testarossa was already sold, and there were no spare cars available, so Ferrari had the two black Testarossa's completely repainted white, to factory standards (not just a quick for TV "blowover"), and the rest is history.
The General Lee will always be my favorite. The orange paint, 01 on doors and the confederate flag on roof. Beautiful car. Not racist the dukes helped everyone.
Exactly. I had re-watched the show during lockdown, there was no negativity or bad intent with the show and the characters, and those who hate on it today only do so cause they never watched the show.
Two neat things that Universal Studios (Hollywood) did during the 80s with two of the cars on this list: 1. Guests could visit, sit inside and have a brief conversation with a "K.I.T.T." replica that was on display. 2. During a full studio promotion of "The A-Team," one of the promotional features was a full-sized replica of the iconic B.A. Baracus van, however the van had been specially altered so that no more than one or two persons were needed to lift one side of the van off of the ground.
The Automan Lamborghini still looks amazing! Not only were these amazing cars, but almost all the theme songs were also super iconic, the 80's were just the best.
I was 9 years old when Knight Rider first aired. I was instantly hooked on it. Of course it was all about the car. I remember walking to school about a week or two after seeing the pilot movie and walking past an actual 1982 Trans Am. My 9 year old mind was blown away when I realized that amazing car I had seen on TV actually existed. Since then, I've owned 2 firebirds. An 89 Formula, and an 87 Trans Am. Never did a KITT replica, but that's OK.
I grew up in Chile in the 80's so I watched all these shows as a kid. When I moved to the US, my first car was an 87' Firebird (305 TBI AT T-tops) it wasn't quick so then i got a 91' Formula (305 TPI MT) and lastly a 92' Trans-Am GTA (350 TPI AT) my uncle a 89' turbo Trans-Am. That thing ran 12's stock!
Man, Knight Rider and A-Team were a must watch in my childhood. It was mid to late 90's but still, me and my friends were glued to the screen. I love these shows.
Fantastic video! I was a huge fan of the majority of these shows. Great research as well for a brief history of each of these cars/shows. You really did an outstanding job.
I guessed properly the top-3, then was waiting to see what order you would put them in. I can't disagree objectively (KITT literally spoke and was the second main character), but for me personally, it was 3 - KITT 2 - Gen Lee 1 - Magnum P.I. Good vid. I "Liked and Subscribed" !
My personal favorite is the Coyote X! You could buy a Charger, Vandura, Trans Am and most of the other's and make them look like their famous counterparts. I never saw anything like the Coyote X on the street! Now that I'm older I look at it and think about the fact that getting in and out of it would be akin to folding myself in half! Dang that makes me feel old!
As I was a kid / teen in the ‘80’s and in spite of it’s “ now not appropriate” scheme? Ask anyone “what car they remember most” ?! The General Lee would be at the Top of The List… That’s my only difference to your list..
Fact check. The Testarossa's delivered to Miami Vice actually came red. Before they rolled off the trailer Michael Mann told the crew he wanted them painted white. thats why they have an odd colour combo of White on Tan. Tan was usually found in red cars. Black or white interiors were more common on white cars.
I only know knight rider and dukes of hazard these others were on TV right when I was born hopfully they show up on Netflix so I can watch them maybe in the future we will see more EVs on TV and just have the old sounds of the gas cars and I hope we get a collection of the cannonball movies and they really should come out with another one either on the big screen or as a TV show and it should be a battle between gas and electric maybe it will happen once we get more conversion kits keep up the vids I really like them.
You misspoke when you were saying that the Dukes of Hazzard ran from 1969 to 1985. You also said 6 seasons. The show ran from 1979 to 1985 and there were 7 seasons.
Ahhhh nooo. You are right. I missed that. I usually would have deleted a video and re uploaded it had I caught it sooner. Though I did mention that the show began at the tail end of the 1970s, but because I kept saying "1969 Charger" I had that date on the brain when I read the lines and did not say 1979. The 6 seasons was a screw up as I should have said "Ran for six years." But yes, that was a goof I messed up on. Can't fix it now.
Well, that issue has now been corrected thanks to the magic of RUclips Editor (Though it may take a few hours to kick in). Thank you for pointing this out for me.
this type of Testarossa is considered nowadays as a rarity because it was the all first testarossa of this generation with the "mono-specio" the unique miror which was due to the fact that a standard miror would have shown the car's rear fender. For the next generation the car had been geavily modified to include amiror and the second miror was easy to add. The Testarossa mono-specio was built because it was a V12...they didn't thought about regulations when Ferrari created the car, which make this car rare (and it was white) who never dreamed to be Magnum only to drive the Ferrari (and Daisy could have make a nice passenger but she was in another serie) i don't know why but i wasn't surprised to discover the #1
10:30 Please do a stand alone video on the red Coyote from Hardcastle & McCormick, showing development, design, construction, ownership then and now and any other tid bits of information that are relevant. The theme song of "Drive" was also an iconic song that is still loved by fans to this day...
I enjoyed the video but there's an error. The 3 cars GM gave the studios to make the 30 short video for the series weren't car 1,2,3 off of the line. The 1982 Trans Am had been in production for a few months before even Glenn Larson came up with the series. The Knight Rider Historians channel has a ton of info on the show. There was a Coyote X that was Porsche powered and one DeLorean powered but the majority were VW powered. There are a few scenes were you can hear the VW engine.
When it is said Cars 1,2,3 it was not a direct reference of how they came off the line, but basically in reference to the cars as individual given to production. For the coyote, yes there were different engines, but without full confirmation of what engine was used when, it's usually the most commonly known.
Love the list! The only one I would disagree with would be the first, the kings wood estate. As you said it was never seen so why put on list. But the rest, magnum, hardcastle, dukes , A team Miami vice and knight rider, yes liked all of them and thank you for putting one of my favorites in there!! Stingray… loved that show!!!
Had to represent Australia. It seems in my quest for this list, Australia never had much of a car show in the 80s. Which is sad cause we were always big on our cars. Kingswood Country captured some of that obsession and it was even more interesting in that we never saw the actual car. It's almost poetic. A man obsessed with his car and the show named after it, yet it never appeared.
Great video. Loved the Coyote X, but didn't like the updated iteration of it. The original version is so cool. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more content, especially playthroughs of Mad Max.
I guess it's just opinion but, as good a car-based show as Knight Rider was, and how well done K.I.T.T. was, it seems to me that The Dukes of Hazzard was THE car-centric show of the era. Just going by the number of replics that I've seen (probably 2 dozen General Lees as opposed to 3 K.I.T.T.s), the oublic seems to agree with me. I don't remember Automan at all, nor the Australian show, Kingswood. I would have remembered that if I had heard about it, since our family car for many years was a 1969 Chevy Kingswood Estate wagon. I'm surprised that The Rockford Files didn't make the list. Perpetually underfunded P.I. Jim Rockford was invoved in at least one chase somewhere in or around Los Angeles in his current year Firebird Esprit every week. I understand why Roptide didn't make the list (the main vehicle was their helicopter "Screamin' Mimi"), but there were plenty of memorable scenes involving their flame-painted red 1960 Corvette.
perhaps worthy of mention - Dodge Macho Power Wagon from Simon and Simon (this show had a crossover with Magnum PI) - Dodge St. Regis (seasons 3 to 5 , S 1-2 it was a Monaco) from TJ Hooker (The Shatner playing a street cop )
I thought of something fun. Someone with the skills edit together Torreto goes to hazzard county. Charger racing Charger threw the backwoods. As much as TV and movies love to destroy those cars I am surprised there are any left.
When a man in a TV show puts that much dedication and love towards any car, even a Holden. One has to respect the other man's devotion and the show named after it. Lol
It’s crazy that the 308 didn’t have enough torque to do an impressive dead stop burnout on asphalt forcing them to do it on grass in the opening credits of Magnum P.I. Like the old cigarette ad said: We’ve (you’ve) come a long way baby!
The Night Rider in Mad Max part 1 was supposed to be an Ex cop who went rouge in the future. Could Michael Knight be the same guy? These franchises are connected like Marvel characters.
@@dodgeramsport01 of course it is. That just happens to be mine. K.I.T.T. is cool and all but The General got to me first. Just as BAN 1 got to me before The General. Prior to that was The Red Tomato. It's just my age.
I was looking for (and missing it from your list) Starsky and Hutch. Then I realized two things:
1) it was the 70s
2) I am old :-(
Ha ha, all good mate. I'm up there as well. Will save that for another top 10 as well.
I was thinking of Smokey and the Bandit and realized I was old too!
Top ten 70s cars

Wonderful video, man! Thank you very much for putting my favorite TV series of all time, Knight Rider, at #1.
Thanks MFP, you've done it again, shown TV shows unknown to us.
Great video as always, we all appreciate you're hard work.
Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

I''m happy to say I've got the entire series on DVD for Knight Rider, Miami Vice and The Dukes. Takes me back to the good ole days
Honorable mention, the dodge power wagon on Simon and Simon.
YES and that awesome theme music
hahahaha not the Kingswood
Glad the General Lee is in this list
Ha ha, I still to this day whistle Kingswood theme.

The car from Knight Rider 2000 was built on a Dodge Stealth chassis and was front engine/front wheel drive.

I'd say that countdown is probably accurate down under, but in the States it would be the Dukes at number 1, 01 that is.

I loved all these shows and cars back in the day
Great video! Great mix of well known shows and more obscure ones.
Please do a list of 90s shows and include the Viper and Defender from Project Viper.
Cheers. It's on the list of vids to do.
Crockett’s “Daytona” was as black as black comes. Not dark green
All hot girls I mean cars
Yep, they don't make'em like they use to.
Top notch list my man! There was another 80s show, Scarecrow and Misses King which had a Porsche and C4 corvette.
Coyote x was bad ass.
Charger in the Dukes of Hazard was a great muscle car from the 70's.
Great list I approve 👌🏾 always wondered what happened to K.I.T.T. 2000

Druzyna , van, viper , itp
Herbie, KITT and other movie 🎥 Cars!

Top 10?…how many more than that were there in the ‘80s
starsky+hutch wasn t 80s?-also the power wagon from simon+simon deserves a mention
Starsky and Hutch were 70s.
Simon and Simon... 57 Chevy vert and Dodge powerwagon. Could never make up my mind which one I liked best!
