Ppl are forgetting that Arthur isn’t in the ferry job. If you looked at the beginning of RDR2 journal, there some lines like “For once, I am not involved in the job (the ferry job). Hosea and I are too taken up with our business.” Also: “Plan is for them to carry the job (the ferry job), then flee into the wilderness out the west. The next day, Hosea and I carry out the scam job and join them.” In chapter 1 RDR2, there is also some lines by Arthur and Javier like: “So, you were there, Javier. What happened on that boat?” “By the time you boys showed up from the other side of the town (blackwater).” [Javier’s line]
I think that while there was the robbery at the ferry Hosea and Arthur were doing the scam and then once the pinkertons attacked the ferry Arthur and Hosea’s cover was blown so they met with the others in the middle of the city and escaped together. All while leaving hundreds of dead law enforcers in all of the town
There is another line where Hosea said that they should have skipped Micah's ferry job and just should have done the "safe insurance scam" - apparently Hosea and Arthur wanted to scam the Blackwater bank with fake insurance documents and then escape fast without any noise - while Dutch got convinced by Micah that the ferry holds more money and they ended up trying to do both heists which didnt worked out that way.

Its like the game MGS5, you're not the good guy, you never were but you play the game from their perspective which warps the reality of it all, but when you really look at it... for alot of what happened too the gang... they had it coming.
Imagine a red dead 3 following another character in the gang, the final mission being the blackwater massacre. The character you play as dies, and you see the gang escape- leading right into red dead 2. We know a few gang members died, so it would work
It's such a shame that R* cut most of the content for Arthur's in New Austin and Blackwater. It could be an amazing Prologue chapter for the gang before they fleeing to Colter. The same thing that they did with Guarma, it supposed to be longer but because the game already on deadline when they release the trailer, they just decided to cut most the part of the game.
In the events of rdr3 ever happening with the blackwater massacre Mac calendar would need to to be the protagonist. Davey's death would not be fitting as a protagonist death leading into rdr2. The death of Arthur and john worked very well as they're deaths weren't already scripted from a different game. With Mac as a protagonist we can have a new character, with a new personality, and a new character arc before his death in blackwater. This gives ®rockstar more wiggle room for original ideas. As much as I love Arthur and john we've already seen them and their character arcs before. Playing Arthur or john in the blackwater massacre they would have no growth considering they were still grunts of dutch at that point.
I think Mac doesn't even need to die. His ending can also be honor and (a new concept in RDR) a few choices dependent. Low honor Mac gets captured and executed, while high honor Mac too gets captured but not executed and gets nursed back to health by some new character.
Doesn't the pinkerton agents ADMIT to killing Mac first time you run into them... that it was a "mercy killing"... While i would mind seeing another prequal that leads up to the heist we're all familiar with the story of.... I almost wanna see one with Sadie or Jack as the main character... but part of me doesn't... cause I don't wanna see those characters die.... I can't watch little jack grow up and get done dirty
This would be such a waste of a Red Dead title that we'd have to wait until like 2033 to even play. Believe me, RDR1 and 2 are my favorite games of all time, but its time for Red Dead 3. If not, at least go all the way back to when Arthur first meets Dutch and forms the gang complete with new characters, locations, and storyline.

The game cant have a single setting because that story would show events over the course of 20 years and the gang would be traveling around the country. So instead of a large open world game like rdr2 where you can go to any part at any moment you’d have closed off maps for every different year the story decides to show. And once you finish the story the game would just end, there would be no epilogue or post game cause rdr2 starts immediately after black water. The game would also have 0 stakes because u already know the entire gang and know that they won’t die in this game. And they can’t make make a story about redemption if they’re gonna end it with the main characters shooting up an entire town for money.

When you go for the money in the ending, it says that Dutch had 43875 dollars, so missing out on the 150k must've been devastating to him. Except, with the 40k+ they could've easily had the whole gang on board some ship, and they'd still have a lot of money left in Tahiti or someplace like that.

I wish we got to see the event maybe playing as John. The fact it's titled "The Blackwater Massacre" really solidifies the severity of the event. Even Ricketts was involved somehow.
By checking the dates of the event and the start of RDR2 prologue, i can assume that the Blackwater Massacre happened just before the gang went to Colter
I still believe that the blackwater massacre was the final rdr online mission it makes more sense based on the rdr1 version of the story which I'm paraphrasing but basically 2 unknown parties started shooting at each other and no one knew what was happening the shooting only lasted a few minutes and when it was over and the law showed up everyone was dead or long gone, this mission also takes place in blackwater during 1899 and seems more mysterious of course our online player knows why we're there but no one else in blackwater does so obviously that shooting was more unknown to the general population where as everyone knew that the ferry robbery was conducted by the Van der linde gang and that is was done for money so there isn't much mystery to it it was just a robbery gone wrong with barely any mystery to it other than where the gang went, but in the final rdr online our online characters and our associates are the only people who know why we were in blackwater and what we were doing there as everyone else involved we killed and to people who were uninvolved it literally just looks like 2 parties met up in the middle of town and started shooting each other heavily for a few minutes then everyone just left which seems a lot more mysterious and akin to the og story of the blackwater massacre than oh some gang got into a fight with the law and got chased out of town I mean that happens like 5 different times in rdr2 but in rdr1 we only hear about the blackwater massacre not the valentine massacre or the Rhodes massacre or the strawberry massacre or the st Denis massacre
dutch wasn’t truly a monster at heart. in rd2 he had a rat in his ear the entire time and realized it after it was too late. after that he was just lost and broken. in a matter of 3 years (that’s my guess) he lost his gf, hosea, and arthur. after he lost annabelle he was confused and mad. after he lost hosea micah knew this was the perfect chance to manipulate dutch and took control. after he lost arthur, he was lost once and for all.
1899, the pinkerton agency massacre, so the Van der LInde gang successfully killed agent milton back in the year 1899 the gang was seperating, so few men turned on each other, the good men being 4 people named arthur, John, sadie and charles. And apparently the bad team Being Micah, Dutch, Cleet,bill, and [Redacted], Than they brought a whole army of Pinkerton s shooting at the gang, the other gang members Charles and sadie went to look for shelter, but arthur and John went to find John his family to be safe and decided to go up to a hill mountain minutes later there horses got shot and fell to the ground. After that they climbes the mountain, arthur had the decision to let John go alone and arthur gets all the money for all of us, or go with John get him to safety with his family so Arthur decided to get John to safety, he couldn't push any further because of the deadly disease back than called "Tuberculosis", so since he couldn't walk anymore he decided to give John all his belongings. A few minutes later he Died do to tuberculosis. His last words being "John Made It. He's The Only One. Rest Of Us… No. But I Tried. In The End, I Did." Now May Arthur morgan rest in peace August 12 1912 (Alternate ending being Micah shooting Arthur in the head)
A really cool idea for rdr3 game to me would be a new game, this time through the point of view of Micah and we see the events that make him how he is, then we see him meeting the game and it would end at Colter, maybe the prologue would be the years after Arthur's death to his
I find it funny, In RDR1 John Marston was labeled as the best protagonist then once RDR2 came out good ole Arthur Morgan came in and took John's place. I honestly think that they are both number 1. Glad to have been able to play as them both in rdr2. Both their deaths hit hard. I've never gotten to play Red Dead Revolver but I love this series

The young female Dutch kills at the massacre is to prove Dutch showed his true colours all along he was as in insane in rd1 as he does the same in rd1 at black water coincidence I think not rd2 he kills innocent women rd1 he does the same it’s a call back to rd1 to say he’s insane just like he was in both games he’s a master manipulator (maybe)
I wish we got to see the event maybe playing as John. The fact it's titled "The Blackwater Massacre" really solidifies the severity of the event. Even Ricketts was involved somehow.
By checking the dates of the event and the start of RDR2 prologue, i can assume that the Blackwater Massacre happened just before the gang went to Colter

I still believe that the blackwater massacre was the final rdr online mission it makes more sense based on the rdr1 version of the story which I'm paraphrasing but basically 2 unknown parties started shooting at each other and no one knew what was happening the shooting only lasted a few minutes and when it was over and the law showed up everyone was dead or long gone, this mission also takes place in blackwater during 1899 and seems more mysterious of course our online player knows why we're there but no one else in blackwater does so obviously that shooting was more unknown to the general population where as everyone knew that the ferry robbery was conducted by the Van der linde gang and that is was done for money so there isn't much mystery to it it was just a robbery gone wrong with barely any mystery to it other than where the gang went, but in the final rdr online our online characters and our associates are the only people who know why we were in blackwater and what we were doing there as everyone else involved we killed and to people who were uninvolved it literally just looks like 2 parties met up in the middle of town and started shooting each other heavily for a few minutes then everyone just left which seems a lot more mysterious and akin to the og story of the blackwater massacre than oh some gang got into a fight with the law and got chased out of town I mean that happens like 5 different times in rdr2 but in rdr1 we only hear about the blackwater massacre not the valentine massacre or the Rhodes massacre or the strawberry massacre or the st Denis massacre

dutch wasn’t truly a monster at heart. in rd2 he had a rat in his ear the entire time and realized it after it was too late. after that he was just lost and broken. in a matter of 3 years (that’s my guess) he lost his gf, hosea, and arthur. after he lost annabelle he was confused and mad. after he lost hosea micah knew this was the perfect chance to manipulate dutch and took control. after he lost arthur, he was lost once and for all.

Being Micah, Dutch, Cleet,bill, and [Redacted], Than they brought a whole army of Pinkerton s shooting at the gang, the other gang members Charles and sadie went to look for shelter, but arthur and John went to find John his family to be safe and decided to go up to a hill mountain minutes later there horses got shot and fell to the ground. After that they climbes the mountain, arthur had the decision to let John go alone and arthur gets all the money for all of us, or go with John get him to safety with his family so Arthur decided to get John to safety, he couldn't push any further because of the deadly disease back than called "Tuberculosis", so since he couldn't walk anymore he decided to give John all his belongings. A few minutes later he Died do to tuberculosis. His last words being
"John Made It. He's The Only One. Rest Of Us… No. But I Tried. In The End, I Did."

I find it funny, In RDR1 John Marston was labeled as the best protagonist then once RDR2 came out good ole Arthur Morgan came in and took John's place. I honestly think that they are both number 1. Glad to have been able to play as them both in rdr2. Both their deaths hit hard. I've never gotten to play Red Dead Revolver but I love this series

Micah being "locked" up in Strawberry was just a setup for Arthur. We practically sh** up a whole town and for that rat just to betray us in the end of the mess smh.

They really need to put this in the next game or a stand alone dlc. I really hoped we’d get a glimpse of what the Black Water Massacre looked like.
