My challenge has been to be more accountable of my time and actually do something for 15 minutes to improve my home then to just write it in a planner & think about doing it. Nothing gets done unless you do it!! Thanks Diane! 🖖

My DD18 and I have been watching the Marie Kondo programme too, and I agree 15 minutes of decluttering, seeing if something ‘sparks joy’ works better for me. My DD20, watched half of one said “what a load of rubbish” and then proceeded to have the biggest clear out of her room for years! 🤣

@Elizabeth Whaley-Avery A friend of mine, an army brat, taught me many years ago to roll my underwear instead of just laying it in the drawer; that saved me tons of space! Then I learned Marie Kondo's method and I like it better; it also saves space but looks neater than rolling it up.

Thank you for sharing your Queen’s speech. What a wise woman. She would be so proud of you as you are the kind and inspirational type of person she would love all the world to be. Your videos have helped so many. I plan on painting wine glasses this weekend ( something mindless and fun ) . Never painted glass before so i am looking forward to it. Today is yoga and deep stretch and also weekly blessing. I find doing two weekly blessings a week helps keep my home in order. We use bikes and a golf carts where i live so my car rarely needs gas and i change my purse often with my outfits so it gets cleaned regularly . Tomorrow is date night and we are going to see a live band. Sunday is always family day and planning/ preparing for the week ahead. Have a wonderful weekend 💕 thank you again for all you do

I thought your excerpt of Queen Marguerite, s speech was excellent . It was so needed in the society we live in today.

Dear Diane, thank you so much for your daily inspiration and your positiveness that sparkles through your videos right into our homes and daily lives! It really made a difference to my personal life, that I found these videos in last fall. I can't thank you enough and hope to see a lot more from you this year, keep up your magnificent work! Also I would never have found the speech from your Queen without you, not because I am not able to google, but it simply wasn't in my mind. Love to hear these deep thoughts and congratulations that these words are heard in so many families and inspire the whole nation. Maybe this is another reason for the Danish people to be so happy...! By the way, you mentioned the trello App in one of your last videos. I therefore began to experiment with it and would love to hear you sharing your experiences and examples for what you are using it, Flylady related or not. Kindest regards!

As always, Diane, thanks for all you do. Your encouragement exceeds expectations. My challenge of putting the Christmas decorations away is complete. Today’s challenges is going through my bedroom nightstand, 15-minutes and getting rid of anything I haven’t used. I’m counting the points of all the items leaving our home. It’s been a great motivator to get back to the basics of what we really use and bless someone else in need of the items. We don’t need blocking our vision of a calm and beautiful place we call home. I call you "Dearest Diane" because you have been such a great cheerleader for me! You and your videos are truly dear to me. I have been going good on my 40day declutter challenge-myself-challenge! My sink is, however, NOT shiny, and while I have the excuse of caring for a fussy clingy toddler, i am making it my mission today to declutter one item, work in zone 1 for 15 minutes, and shine my sink! Definitely manageable at nap time. I asked for a cute retro style timer for Christmas and it has been so fun to set it and work until the Ding! Happy wishes for a prosperous New Year to you and yours, Dearest Diane!

I have had good habits in the past (fly lady, paleo cooking, exercising) that I've let slip with working full-time and being so tired, etc. Nice to have found your channel Diane for encouragement. You are so bubbly and full of life. I am done working next week and will be staying home full-time now. YAY! Hoping to pick back up with Fly Lady (so thank you for your vlogs) and home cooking, eating less and more healthy, and exercise. I cannot believe you winterbathe. You've gotten me curious about it. I have a bike and helmet so I need to dust those off too. Looking forward to staying in touch and following along with your schedules. Thought about downloading the flylady app but there is a monthly cost so I think for now I'll just get her emails and go along with you. Thanks for all you do, Patty Be the way, I also have started the Konmari method throughout my home because we are working on downsizing and letting go of old stuff....Pretty fun and gives you such a good feeling.

HAPPY NEW YEAR DIANE! simple words from your queen, but yet, so wise in their simplicity! unfortunately, technology is a knife that cuts on both sides. it has helped humanity in many ways, but at the same time, it has helped to destroy it in many ways. we must be alert and aware at all times. learn to recognize the dangers, and strictly set the limits. love your longer videos, hope you do them more often.

Happy New Year Diane! Your videos are so inspiring to me. My husband and I did a major clean out of our house over the holidays and I want to incorporate more zone cleaning this year (I've been doing the morning and evening routines for several months now). Carol actually did a show on the Konmari method a few years ago when her book came out! I bet you can find it if you search on the dressing your truth page or in lifestyle. I believe she typed Marie as a 4/1. Cheers!

There you go again with that "get up and do something, don't be sitting around watching RUclips" lol. So I've been working and "listening" lol. This was a great video. So inspiring, and I loved the Queens speech too. So positive. I'm inspired now!!! Oh and I almost forgot, now I have to paint something. It's definitely going to be a purse. Even though you said not to start out with anything like that. Lol. At least I'm not planning to paint a whole coat. Lol lol

The challenge I was going to complete by the end of the weekend is done! Now to my closet. I'm wearing all the clothes in my closet. If I hate them by the end of the day then they go into the donate pile. I've come home 2 days in a row and gotten rid the tops I've worn. Not sure what my next challenge is yet, but I'll come up with something! Thank You! Your enthusiasm is contagious.

Diane, you just remind me of a show I used to love watching called "How clean is your house?". I liked Aggie and Kim because they were cheeky and light hearted. Yes other hoarding shows can be upsetting.

I watched a couple of Mari kondo videos yesterday and it inspired me to go through my husband's wardrobe in two 15 minute declutters and because it was so easy I decided to do my wardrobe as well which I did by setting my timer for 15. I did my wardrobe about 5 months ago so that helped tremendously. I have trouble letting things go if they fit and still look in good condition. What really helped to let go was what was said about asking whether or not they spark joy. I just can't bring myself to thank the items though , that really made me smile, but I just said to myself , thank God I,m finally letting things go that just take up my wardrobe .I found this so satisfying.
I came from a large house to a small 2 bedroom flat and although I downsized my furniture my one bookshelf which has ended up in my bedroom is too full and really getting on my nerves. I had a wonderful large unit in the dining room of our house that had open and closed compartments and drawers. It was really beautiful, a present from my Dh . It displayed my nice china behind glass doors and housed my dinner service and the books were displayed in different areas . I loved it. Unfortunately much too big for here . It was about 11 or 12 feet in length. I miss that and my piano but no regrets we decided to sell and downsized to have more time in Cyprus. Life goes on and we experienced many other blessings. I just can't figure out why I am having trouble sorting this annoying bookshelf. I,m just going to take everything off the shelves and employ the same method. I,m dreading it.
Talking about hyacinths I found some in beautiful glass vases in Tesco's reduced to £1.25 yesterday they are just in bud .They should look amazing .I bought 3 in different colours. What a coincidence. Have you noticed things in bud in your garden yet ? We have some polyanthus or maybe they are something similar in flower. Absolutely amazing! Blessings to you and yours from Margaret in Wales

Thank you for your inspiration. My home is about to be professionally deep cleaned and I have two weeks to declutter before it’s rented out for a few months. I am a Flyinfant LOL. Shining my sink and putting on real shoes is helping me stay sane. I love Marie Kondo and loved her Netflix show. She is helping me sort one group at a time and stay focused. I will not take everything out of closet. I know the things that spark joy to leave in . You are cheering me up and keeping me moving. When I move back into my home I will use your slower saner methods. Happy New Year! You are my favorite new BFF.

I need to change my control journal. I've had it for a long time. I started Flylady in 2005 or 2006 when she was a tot. Now my daughter is now 17. So I think it is time to update it. This is something I need to challenge myself to do. Another challenge for is to do hygge moments. These seem to help me during the winter months. Thanks for all the idea. Have a good weekend.

On "I Challenge Myself" initiative: Another subscriber of Diane's and I have started decluttering in tandem and sharing our progress in the comments thread of a previous video of hers. I noticed the effect that having an accountability partner had on my progress. Yesterday, I did not feel like hitting my target of getting rid of at least 2 trashbag's worth of donations or recycling and had only done one medium box. But after Jocund checked in, it helped me, and I was able to do the two bags as well as an extra box of recycling in my laundry room this time as well as 6 items out of my coat closet. I mention this especially because another lady wanted to join and I don't think she can see the progress from that old video. Off to attack master closet. If you feel so inclined, do share your progress. It's inspiring.

I am now listening to Carol's (2) audio books, Discovering Your Type of Beauty and It's Just My Nature..over again! I have been feeling "off" and second guessing myself
Now I am going with my 1st intuition. An "aha" moment when you just mentioned the personality reference. I'd been looking at that vs. my energy! Stay posted, heehee on my revelation. Oh! And DD18 wanted to watch the Netflix Tidying Up 1st episode the other night. It did overwhelm me a bit as I relate to Flylady moreso, but she loved it. She is T4. (( smiles )) And yes, the hoarding shows make me feel depressed as well. Happy Saturday!! Your newly painted navy projects are delightfully well-done and your hyacinths are so pretty. Happy Friday Diane.
I dislike paying money for subscription services like magazines and Netflix, Hulu.
I'm on fixed income and every where I can not spend, the better.
With that said, I found lots of Konmarie style videos on RUclips and will check them out. Thanks Diane, I hadn't heard of Konmarue before.

Our dear sweet cat died unexpectedly on New Year’s Day. My husband and I are devastated. Your challenge has been the one bit of comfort we have found as we have decided to just to walk outside together for 15 minutes a day. We may be crying as we walk and talk about our dear “Percy” , but being outside in nature helps. It is difficult to remain in the house, “seeing” him everywhere, but knowing he is gone. Thank you, Diane, for your bright, cheerful energy.

I noticed that your color combination today is blue and yellow; it reminded me that many years ago, the Dress for Success author, John T. Molloy, did a lot of research into the effects on others of different color combinations, and he found that the combinations of blue (any blue) and light yellow or blue and beige gave people the impression that the wearer is a happy person. Just to say, what an easy way to spread cheer, by wearing blue with yellow or beige! Even when we don't feel cheerful, we can add cheer to others in this small way, and that can't help but be a good thing for all of us, right?

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  5 лет назад

No, I have never coloured my hair. I used to get blonde highlights done at the hairdressers in my 30s and early 40s but stopped about seven or eight years ago when the grey hair really started coming in. I like the fact that the grey looks like silver highlights and it doesn't cost me a penny! 😍 A few people thought I had gone darker in December but that was because it was so dark when I was filming... LOL!

I THOUGHT.. I did not like to CLEAN my house.. because I didn't realize that Cleaning and Tidying are NOT really the same thing.
I couldn't Clean effectively because of all the clutter.
Once I did Marie Kondo's de-clutter... THEN the actual Cleaning became a breeze.
Can't vacuum a floor very well that you can't see right? LOL
SO... First de-clutter then... FLY through the house. A clutter free home is a JOY to clean.
    Who knew?
