Dear Diane, after severe illness and my husbands sudden death last year, I couldn't overcome my weakness and confusion enough to get my journey in "Flylady-land" going.
Watching your video and taking notes all along I find there is hope yet (which I had almost given up) for me to get my life and home in order again. You are so structured and encouraging, thank you ever so much for your work here!!! I am looking forward to your next "lesson" tomorrow! Happy greetings from Rachel
Absolutely well done for not giving up. 🥰
I love and look forward to Diane's videos, as they really help me when I am feeling so unmotivated. 😊
So lovely and encouraging... please keep up the good work and know that I am cheering for you.
Rachel, I am very sorry for your loss. Please be assured that you are absolutely right in taking as much time as you need to process your grief. Everyone is different and everyone is right in doing what each needs.
I am guessing that one of the most important FLY Lady steps for you will be pampering. I highly recommend pampering as one your first baby steps to turn into a habit. The other thing that helps me is incorporating hygge into my daily routines. With Diane's encouragement, I have been burning candles and listening to music during my after-dinner routine and my morning routine--making everyday routines special.
When I get up in the morning, it is so nice to not have to think as I go into the kitchen to simply push the coffee machine button, push the CD player button, light the candles, wash my hands and empty the dish washer. With everything put away, it feels so good to enjoy my coffee, meditate, pray, read or watch a couple of videos. Creating a little hygge in the morning sets the tone for my whole day. One flower in a bud vase can make a difference for me. Diane has a playlist with lots of hygge ideas.
Remember that "good enough really is good enough" and it's all about making things easier and taking care of yourself. I wish you well on your journey.
I really feel for you and the suffering and loss you have had. Life can be so hard. Diane has motivated so many including myself and she has showed me I can do this . My husband had a stroke 6 years ago and he is in a lot of pain and he is haemaplegic. She has a lovely community of subscribers who like to cheer each other on. She often brings a smile to me and is full of great ideas, demonstrating how our routines , planning ahead ,being intentional and treating ourselves kindly makes our life so much better.
Sending you lots of hugs xxxxx Margaret in Wales
All the best for you Rachel! Take your time and do the babysteps that feel right for you. ❤️ Best wishes from Berlin!
You look so much younger with your newer hairstyle.
Thank you for the timer reminder 👍
Yes! I forgot until I see the older vids. Her hair is much more flattering! Makes her look so pretty!
Aww, thank you so much - I feel much happier too with my "new" look!
And the softer makeup. I want to explore DYT more in 2020. Diane is great testimony to it. I have watched more of Carol Tuttle's videos on finding your type.
“Being tired is not an excuse!” Love that and need to remember that when I get home from work. Set my timer and do it!
Yes! This one kept me from getting away with that excuse. Loved that. Diane is so gentle n encouraging but on this point she is no BS.
Go you, Sandy!
Thank you Diane 🙏🏼 As a Glaswegian living in Italy for almost 25 years, your videos are helping getting me out of the rut of the COVID situation and also a familiar and friendly accent keeping me company while I’m working away. You make it a pleasure and an inspiration, that gives me motivation. Thank you so much 🙂
Thank you Diane, I really appreciate your videos! I have 3 young children and you have helped me to feel less like a headless chicken and a little more like I have things sorted 😄
Rebekah Beck 😄 Thanks for the headless chicken! I totally feel you! 😁
Thank you very much. During your video, I peeled approximately a 5 lb bag of organic carrots which were starting to go bad at the edges. Some I cut into circles for a simple boiled buttery side dish and the rest into carrot sticks that I covered in cold salty water and put in the fridge. These last for a few days and my munchkins eat them very fast if they can easily see them. What's left can be ready to go for any recipe. Interestingly, your advice sank in and I am going to make a list of the three top priorities for each time of day instead of the 15 things I never look at. Hugs!
My pamper moment is doing absolutely nothing during 15 minutes. So recharging !
Great idea...just "be"! 😍
Love the idea of a self-care basket! The queen's speech that you mentioned yesterday reminds of a sample description of a book I found Amazon while looking for new books to read. I have not read it, but it is called Craft a Life You Love: Infusing Creativity, Fun & Intention into Your Everyday by Amy Tangerine. It seems like she is also a RUclipsr.
I want to add that being tired can also result from a medical condition. It's a good idea to see a doctor for tests. Add it to your pamper list. Many health issues make us feel tired, such as low iron, hormones out of balance, adrenal glands shutting down, thyroid problems, or depression. Stress can knock everything out of balance.
Yes, make sure to get these things checked - so important to look after ourselves! 😀
I love your videos and being our cheerleader.
I needed this “bakookie” camp to jumpstart myself again. I was on a roll & doing really well-seeing progress & feeling energized-despite the holidays. Then we had a huge mess, to put it mildly, b/c we were dog sitting our “granddog,” who got sick all over the front part of the house. UGH! I’m a real germaphobe, so I’ve been in overdrive trying to clean thoroughly. I felt discouraged b/c before the episode our house was in better order than it had been in ages. So some steps forward & more steps backwards. I spent a couple of days working to absolute exhaustion, simply b/c of the necessity to clean thoroughly. Anyway, you’ve got me motivated again, so today I’ll attack in baby steps. Cheers to all other Fly Babies out there & thanks to you, Diane!
Eek, sorry to hear about the poor doggy, Vivian - but glad you are motivated and ready to make some progress!
Diane you look beautiful in that shade of pink
And I love your necklace
I've been getting my basic MR/ER done but I've also got a flu bug. The videos have very been helpful to me, and I hope I'll get my energy back soon.
Get well soon Jen. The flu has been awful this year. So many friends and family have had this including myself. I hope you have a swift recovery
Aww bummer, I hope you feel better soon
"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt. " by William Shakespeare
(In my paper planner where I went to write the top 3 priorities for each section of the day.) I hope that everyone is doing well? :-)
Hi Diane, I'm early into my fly lady journey and just wanted to say thank u for your videos. I struggle with anxiety and the routines and videos have made such a difference already. 💚💜💙
Yay, I'm glad they have been helpful, Anna!
I need your reminders every day or I would just quite so thank you 🌹🌹🌹
Morning routine done. Taking the train to the city for some family time. Not my usual Tuesday focus but am able to switch around since I keep to a daily routine. It doesn't what day it gets done because I keep things maintained.
Absolutely loving your videos. I’m just in the process of learning about FlyLady and you’re videos explain it all perfectly. Loving this new series you’re doing.....Thankyou gorgeous lady💕💕
Welcome here, Tracey!
Hello Diane
As always thank you so much
I read your videos every day
It really helps me
I am sitting down having a 15 minute break
I am decluttering under the stairs
And am going back to finish off
Diane god bless you and your family always
Love this refresher course! so helpful! I will no longer use the excuse "I'm tired" It's been my go to phase for years! LOL!
The daily focus really helped me in de past years. Now I combine them a little. On one day for example, when I plan my week menu’s, I first check my refrigerator, freezer and pantry for things that ‘must go first’ or ‘would give space’ and write it down. Then I sit down and make up meals with most of it. Then I add ingredients to my errand list I need to completely the meals and plan them so I don’t have to waste as much as I used to. Then off to the store or market and there I look for other vegetables to complete a 7 days meal plan. That way I also use up things out of the pantry I almost forgot (or wouldn’t buy another time/ antiprocrastination meal stuff or packages) and it gives space.
Yay, I'm glad you are making the system your own, Kelly!
All good. Garage shelving challenge continues. Maybe finish today? Spinach quiches for dinner. Recycling pickup today. Gleaned a lot from the garage and setting items aside for our annual spring sale. But Alan might be at his limit for awhile!
Thank you, Diane! ❤
You're helping to keep me cheery during the dreary January days. "You don't have to like it, you just have to EAT it!" made me laugh and reminded me of school dinners in Scotland.
I have a gazillion "to-dos" and am feeling a bit overwhelmed so I'm looking forward to a GTD refresher tomorrow. (It's a great system but one does have to actually remember to USE it for it to work! 🤣)
Lots of love to you. 🇨🇦 🇩🇰 x
LOL! Yes, those Scottish school dinners...fried spam and chips!
I LOVE this series already diane. It’s helped me already, in the two days you’ve done it! Thank you!!
I have always thought I was a fairly organised person, but your routines are really helping me. For the first time I laid out my clothes for the next day - it was such a relief to get up and know what to put on. Thank you please don’t stop making the videos
Thank you for the kind words!
Lookingso pretty and warm ... 07 Jan .2020
Tuesday... plan and play and ready for our fun .
My first reaction to this is how subdued/restrained your energy is in this video! DYT has really made a huge difference for you! What resonates with me is to not use "I'm too tired" as an excuse. I have been struggling with fatigue for a while now (hormones!) and often find myself saying how tired I am. Starting today I am trying to break that habit by speaking positively to myself: "I have plenty of energy for my tasks today." Thanks again for your videos! Happy New Year!
Yay, thanks, Jennifer! Yes, it has been fun to see the old 'restricted' me versus the new. Carol gave me a fantastic gift! 😍
Thank you for my morning motivation!
I just ❤️ you Diane... I look forward to seeing your videos every day... THANK YOU❣
We did get the shelving completed correctly!!! Will continue resort for spring sale during our long evenings. Aiming to cut storage bins in half. Love my new slightly edgey hair cut I got this afternoon for the pamper. Tomorrow Dr appt. for the self care.
‘Being tired is not an excuse’ is very easy to say when one is healthy. But while I’m with chronic fatigue syndrome it’sfar more difficult. Althoughthe Fly Lady system is a great help because it gives structure and doing things in small steps give great results.
Yes, the Flylady system is wonderful for those with chronic illness or other health issues - it allows us to move forward at the speed we are able to! 😀🎉 I'm talking here about those of us who use the excuse "I'm too tired" because they simply don't want to do things.
❤️ed this. You are so helpful Diane! 😘
You are so very welcome! 😍
Have great day I'm going to buy The Jornal today to put the sheets in
My bahookie needed a kicking! I was using the ‘tired’ excuse too often. Following your advice I’ve revisited my morning and after work routines and done them! The weekly plan is also so helpful - I’ve rejigged some of the days to fit in with our family schedule better.
Woo hoo, pom pom salute for you, Jen!
Thank you for this great reboot. I'm wondering, where do you keep your control journal? Do you bring it around the house with you? Does it have a home where it stays? Thanks :)
It lives in my kitchen, in a drawer. Or I take it with me if, for example, I'm doing zone work (to check my lists) 🖐
Day 2. I'm beginning those routines, those baby steps, again. It feels really good. I see, finally, that Routines are a necessity, for me. Not fussy, perfectionist ones but workable, helpful, useful ones. Just as you say, Diane. Tho I've begun before, using the flylady baby steps and it felt good, overall, I've resisted routines, thinking I didn't need them or I'd be 'too restricted' by being tied to a schedule. However, even with the best of intentions, the 'fly by the seat of your pants' method doesn't work! It's hard! At times, I accomplish a lot, too much, in a way, because, always playing catch up. Working too hard. But then, life happens n soon, behind again, facing the same old tasks, plus the ones I've put off! Feeling stuck and then bad about myself! I'm so over it!
I appreciate the guidance and a plan that works. I believe it will work and, dare I say, I will be successful, if I just stay on the path. I so look forward to making it all simpler, more peaceful, running smoother, one baby step a time. I'm also learning that going too fast too soon doesn't work. But small steps, maintained, are powerful. I know you all know all this. Thanks for sharing all this Diane! Thanks too for providing a space for us to share.
That's something which comes up often, Kim - not wanting the structure but finding that not having it makes life even more complicated... Glad you have seen how to make things work for you! 🎉😍
Following you ... routines ...
Hallo Diane . I don't agree with something. If I am tired I will get rest otherwise I will get hurt ( I will fall down) . Another point is :So what's the point of pampering if I am tired ?! Unless you mean bored. If you are mean bored I will agree with you.
Where do you keep your control journals
Hi Arlene! I show you in yesterday's video 🖐😃 ruclips.net/video/VNxmV2erfK0/видео.html
Hello lovely Diane! I saw a news today that the danish princes and princesses go to a school in Switzerland just for a short Programm and they normally go to Tranegårdsskolen. Is this Skole special school for the danish royal family? I ask this question because I am a big royal fun.😍
Hi! Tranegårdsskole is an ordinary Danish school (it's actually in our neighbourhood and I pass by it very often), there are no fees or entrance exams. The Danish Royals like their children to have a "normal" upbringing 😀
