Forgot to mention in the video but if you live in the US and know anyone that might fancy printing some stuff, I'd love to find a printing partner over there. Bit expensive and a hassle to ship from the UK (but I'll still do it)
Legend , I use mine and it’s great an the sticker looks great on my vx , this device is so great and makes tapes pointless now . Thanks so much for my kit bro
Dude, awesome Project! You inspired me to print a recorder for my hi8. I am using the eachine dvr tho (the low quality is fine for 10 bucks). Regarding the cable, you can totally solder the correct cable so it plugs in all the way and doesn't come out. I also made extra low profile angled chinch plugs to leave in the video out port permanentally. Now just find a real vx somewhere :D
Late to the game on this one. What is the size of that brass insert for the hotshoe adapter and do you have a link by any chance? Also, thanks for all your work on this. Just did the exact same setup and it works flawlessly!
planning on doing all this for my vx2000 soon - only question is, if i want to film in the dark with a light, is there anywhere else i can put the mount so i can put the light on the top hotshoe?
I noticed on the spacer it covers the 3rd ring on the jack, wouldn’t that mean it only takes one audio channel? On my power play I can get a signal with all 3 rings inside the camera
Just bought the spacers and the audio didn’t work for me. It just didn’t pick up any audio of my vx2100 but when I don’t use the spacers the audio picks up
@@kooljesus5138 I printed my own spacers, I noticed that with some cables it’s different, like if the cable only has one audio channel, also could be different with the 2100
@@kooljesus5138if you can’t get video and audio, take the spacer off and move the cable until you can get both, if you can get both with the cable half plugged in then you can sand the spacer down to the correct size
Awesome video as always man. Ill be picking one of these up when I can. Got a question for you. Any idea where I can find a replacement screen for the powerplay? Mine took a hit and the screens cracked.
Good shout man! Thanks. Just thought you might know off hand if you had opened the box up. Dont want to have to shell out for a whole new powerplay haha.
Good shit. I have a question, is there a way to turn off the auto power off on the vx? when i shoot tapeless it keeps switching off after a couple of minutes, really bothersome.
sorry not got a VX to test with but on the GL2 I had to take the tape out and change a menu setting to stop auto shut off. I've heard something about people just hitting the zoom rocker every few mins to keep it awake
Try filming without a tape in the deck. Not got a VX1000 to test, but I know on the VX2000 if you dont have a tape in the deck it will override the auto shut off to protect the tape mechanism and deck.
Yo brother any chance that you are maybe bringing some of this powerplay/trv900 stuff back to your shop anytime soon? I just purchased a trv900 and am looking to get the power play soon too! 🥲
@@NEONAIRSHIP i tried a 3.5 to rca cable. idk if the cable i got was just cheap or defective, but i only get a signal when the 3.5 is barely even plugged in, and it’s still way static. would it make a difference if my vx is the PAL version? not quite sure how all that works haha thanks
Nah shouldn't make a difference, try swapping the red and yellow connectors over if you've not already. Try all the different combinations in fact, sometimes they're the wrong colour on the cheap ones!
I got the RCA cable Neon Recomended in the description of the first or second video in this series, worked perfect on my PAL VX. I do have some dirt cheap, low quality RCAs and none of those seem to work. If a more expensive cable doesn't do it, try cleaning the contact on the VX video out component.

Just grabbed one. Thanks for putting in the work and coming up with this! Much appreciated.

Got one of these because of you 🙏 doing gods work
Realy great stuff! It’s so important to reuse stuff instead to trash the old technology.
elastic band would replace a cable tie too👍

You could use a cold shoe splitter or some people have velcroed/double sided taped the powerplay somewhere else
@@NEONAIRSHIP cold shoe splitter looks good thanks!
Have you ever had a remove cassette error on your gl2? I just got it the other day and it’s really frustrating
how did you fix it
Pls bring it back to the store

fuck yea been waiting for this

I have something called a DigitNow I record to you think it’ll work ? They seem to both be similar in size.
No this is specifically designed for the powerplay it won't work with anything else
@@NEONAIRSHIP It’s fine nothing Velcro and wire holders won’t fix.
Powerplay is sold out everywhere 💔💔💔💔
How long will it take to arrive to belgium ? I'd like to buy one but im going on vacation this wednesday
About 7-10 working days on average I think. It varies a bit due to covid and brexit 🙃
@@NEONAIRSHIP ok thanks , i guess i'll buy it when i'll come back 🤟🏼
Just copped
This would work with the vx2000 right
Yep!

It'd be easy to replace if they can get you a spare!
What plug do you plug the 3.5AV into? I have a GL1 I’m trying to figure out if this will work
On the GL1 it should look like a headphone socket and have AV or 'AV Out' next to it
would the immersion thing work with vx2100
Yep 👍
@@NEONAIRSHIP Thank you!!
when you record something how is the standby and record not in the way
You can change settings on the cam to either output the OSD or not - it's usually off as standard
@@NEONAIRSHIP thanks
Hey , can i put this on a trv900 ?

Can I use this in my camera? Canon xh a1?
Wouldn't recommend it for HDV, need to look for a HD recorder instead

Will it fit without the battery extension thing you printed though?
Yep tried and tested with the original back
@@NEONAIRSHIP sweet!
How do you mount it ?
either on the cameras hotshoe or you can get creative with the 1/4 20 tripod screw
