The new support will make the deck strong, but in reality, all upcoming decks will use it as an engine, and this is disgusting, and therefore it will be banned like the phantom of yubel in the future 😮💨

Fortunately the Snake-Eyes game isn't really representative of the deck's full capacity. Usually you don't have to turbo into Etoile to avoid Nib, as the regular Ostinato combo puts it as the 5th dummon.

Well shs actually had pendulums already. Melodious, the archtype who revolves around activating effects on special summon, had 0 for almost 10 years. Which is ridiculosly frusterating
A lot of builds are also playing powersink stone in the side because it turns off for your turn, and you can turn it back on in draw phase on the opp's turn. Talents is also incredibly impactful, coincidentally a lot of top decks have fairy monsters, specifically apo and lo. Baiting an interaction means you can steal the lo/apo and make the mel link 2 since it only needs fairies. Bacha CAN be impermed/veilered/mournered to stop it from specialing from deck. You can activate ash too but youll like a fool since it resolves without effect. Finally, resolving ostinato can end on bacha + bagooska + etoile, at which point youve locked out the opponent and can still bounce cards since bacha prevents bagooska from negating the etoile.
Plus with Powersink you can go "end phase effect of Stone" then use Étoile to bounce the opponent's face up monsters, and just attack directly on your turn.
If Ostinato being abused by other decks causes it to get hit on the list and therefore killing the pure variant I will unleash a death metal scream loud enough to cause tremors Also does Bloom Diva not hard counter Tenpai?
Great bit at the start, good list and fucking banger explaining some card choices. Good replays too. I think MBT you don't know that you could use Etoile to remove your board to use ostinato/1st movement but without elegy that line doesn't add much as ostinato will pop your fusion(giving 2 more bodies), that line also loses to nib if they have it. Both of those reasons are why they choose to not use ostinato on game 2 in b03 ironically tenpai is a melodious favored match up
I don't think MBT knows much about the matchup, honestly. We've figured it out slowly ourselves and I know for sure he hasn't taken interest in pure until very recently. Even then, he got through Supremelodious first, which... Didn't go well for him.
I remember hating playing melodious in duel links cause you couldent target the fusions and there wasn’t any spells or traps around that so you couldent out it
I honestly I expected a mention to Arc-V's Yuzu. She's the one who ported Melodious in the anime. The reason why it was a half-baked deck for over 8 years is because Arc-V itself is a half-baked anime with awful Season 2 and 3, and Yuzu was the main victim of it.
I don't know why that Lightsworn Runick player thought they were going to draw anything other then the Weiss they put back. The cost is putting the card ontop of the deck, the effect is sending the top cards. So if you ash it, they literally bricked their next draw without any way to shuffle.
While far from being meta, I've found Pure Melodious (pre-new support) can be decently flexible if you're not just trying to do the same old "Access Code Talker & Baronne" End Board strategy. I am eager to update my IRL Melodious deck with the new cards though! It'll be interesting to see if they make up for the lack of draw power the deck has with the targeted searches. Also, hell to the yes another Fusion that doesn't require a Maestra! A shame we didn't get another spell and/or trap that has Melodious in the name on top of Concerto, as Illusion really isn't great (and useless if you have a special'd Aria on field). Also, it's always fun to just special out 2 monsters, link into Composer, ditch one to special Aria and Elegy, then normal something (preferably Soprano) and fusion it with Composer for Schuberta (well I guess Bacha now too).
The new support makes me excited, I used to play Brilliant Melodious in high school and kept it built. Thankfully I still have the deck built so I can make a few changes and have a new meta deck.

Im going to my first regional for yugioh and I'm playing Melodious. I'm also an opera singer so Nessum Dorma by Pavarotti is right up my alley. I will be humming and singing this all day

Yeah I've been going back and forth between this and Yubel this format. This deck is so tricky and back when Tenpai was doing their whole turn in Battle they did a lot more for sure. Snake eyes, I'm still learning how I'm supposed to deal with them
Always a fan of the fairy monster type. Especially ones like Melodius that were laughable for a long time and finally get good support. If only my girl Artemis could catch a break I'd be golden. No clue what her arch type would be called (Greek God themed?) but her ability to so easily burn to death opponents by making use of summons is good... but needs support.

You missed my favorite nifty tech you can pull with this deck! Bacha also says that the activated effects of your melodious monsters cannot be negated. This means you can summon bagooska alongside etoile and Schuberta turn 1 and your opponent is negated but you can still bounce their field and banish their GY. You can get there pretty easily with ostinato +1 melodious in hand
I've been a long suffering melodious player since 2018 and while I am grateful to finally have some much needed support for an admittedly bad deck beforehand, I'm not that enthused that it came in the form of splashable out of archetype cards because now it just feels like a countdown till they get hit on the banlist to make way for new product later.
I think you may have got this one a little wrong about Tenpai Mr. BT. Sure while the Aria lock can be outed by some of the Tenpai engine, it’s not outed super consistently. Also, while relatively easy to out with drawn non-engine like raigeki, the bagooska end board is very difficult for the deck to out otherwise. Aria lock and bagooska is hard to out for a Tenpai player already, but the fact that the Melo player WILL be on at least 18 non-engine ensures they’ll have at least a hand trap to contest key cards resolving like Paidra or the quick play.
I’m confused. Melodious fusion monsters’ activated effects can’t be negated because of Bacha, but why does Mourner still work on Bacha’s effect to summon from deck?
Mourner, imperm, and veiler all negate the entire effect of the card. Bacha's negate protection only prevents "Activated effects" from being negated, but that protection is a continuous effect. Because of that, the continuous effect will be negated and can't protect the activated effects. So Bacha will lose to those cards
Game three vs snake eyes: You had the play turn two with summon aria , special summon sonata and then go the link to build board. Probably coulda won that one ….
This play gets cooked by any hand trap (and they had veiler) and then you lose orange light access and you also turn off like half of your good top decks. Definitely correct to hold off.
Herald wasn't live to protect the Harmonist and she's vulnerable to any handtrap under the sun. One could have risked it but considering the opponent didn't commit to that last card in hand he was right to hold off.
But he didnt know their hand and one card in hand that they send to grave puts you at a card advantage . We had the ash to check their starter too. Anyway both of you bring up good points and technically we’re all right in certain situations but i still stand by point that there was a play :)
Genuine question: in game 3 against Snake Eyes, why didn't MBT just use Schuberta to banish the Ash Blossom - AKA, the card Poplar actually targeted? That would have at least forced the Snake Eyes player to send Effect Veiler to summon Diabellestar.

Bloom Diva doesn't do much if they are on Samurai Destroyer, which Tenpai will likely want to run anyway once Phantom of Yubel drops

In ocg melodius is really popular to pair with voiceless, pendulum pile just for free apollusa before normal and commit to their main combo .

I've been a long suffering melodious player since 2018 and while I am grateful to finally have some much needed support for an admittedly bad deck beforehand, I'm not that enthused that it came in the form of splashable out of archetype cards because now it just feels like a countdown till they get hit on the banlist to make way for new product later.

I think you may have got this one a little wrong about Tenpai Mr. BT. Sure while the Aria lock can be outed by some of the Tenpai engine, it’s not outed super consistently. Also, while relatively easy to out with drawn non-engine like raigeki, the bagooska end board is very difficult for the deck to out otherwise. Aria lock and bagooska is hard to out for a Tenpai player already, but the fact that the Melo player WILL be on at least 18 non-engine ensures they’ll have at least a hand trap to contest key cards resolving like Paidra or the quick play.

I’m confused. Melodious fusion monsters’ activated effects can’t be negated because of Bacha, but why does Mourner still work on Bacha’s effect to summon from deck?
Mourner, imperm, and veiler all negate the entire effect of the card. Bacha's negate protection only prevents "Activated effects" from being negated, but that protection is a continuous effect. Because of that, the continuous effect will be negated and can't protect the activated effects. So Bacha will lose to those cards

Game three vs snake eyes: You had the play turn two with summon aria , special summon sonata and then go the link to build board. Probably coulda won that one ….
This play gets cooked by any hand trap (and they had veiler) and then you lose orange light access and you also turn off like half of your good top decks. Definitely correct to hold off.
Herald wasn't live to protect the Harmonist and she's vulnerable to any handtrap under the sun. One could have risked it but considering the opponent didn't commit to that last card in hand he was right to hold off.
But he didnt know their hand and one card in hand that they send to grave puts you at a card advantage . We had the ash to check their starter too. Anyway both of you bring up good points and technically we’re all right in certain situations but i still stand by point that there was a play :)

Genuine question: in game 3 against Snake Eyes, why didn't MBT just use Schuberta to banish the Ash Blossom - AKA, the card Poplar actually targeted? That would have at least forced the Snake Eyes player to send Effect Veiler to summon Diabellestar.
Iv come to realize if you have the Aria lock it's way safer to summon everything in defense position. Dodges lightning storms
