    "Midnight Margaritas!"
This thing about Practical Magic maybe not being a Halloween movie... I mean it's about two sisters who are witches, which are a big part of Halloween. Also, listen... if Die Hard can be a Christmas movie because it takes place on Christmas Eve, then Practical Magic can definitely be Halloween movie!
Also, this movie is such a gem. It has comedy, romance, supernatural and such chemistry between the actresses. It’s beautiful and the soundtrack is also fire. Sandra Bullock is so vulnerable and enchanting in this movie!

Something I didn’t catch onto with this movie until many years later is that it wasn’t just the sisters who broke the curse. It was all the woman of the town coming together to accept them. Maria was outcast by the town and got her heart broken so the town accepting them broke the curse instead. So beautiful!

Amazing spellbinding reaction. 👍🏼 The jump on his arms kiss combo is a direct result of the aunts casting a spell on Sally because they felt her misery. What they didnt intend was that what was supposed to be a harmless fling would grow to a strong love that triggered the Owen's curse. Hope this clarifies. 😊

@@brendaleeirizarry1724 You must have watched a different interview because the ones I've seen he knew. His excuse was "It wasn't because I wasn't interested, its because you were out of my..." The last word in that was "league." That means Jimmy knew Nicole was interested in him, but she was SO CRAZY HOT that he felt unworthy of her. That's the real reason he ignored her. He was afraid of what could of happened to him if she later broke up with him. That's the real sad part of their encounter. The tragedy was Nicole made more than one attempt to get his attention because she really loved him. Her remembering all the details years later is more tragic because it wasn't a small detail in her life.

I've always liked this movie, but it is one of my wife's all-time favorites. She is drawn to movies and shows about sisters, not because she didn't have any, but because none of her (much older) siblings were ever really close to her. Movies can be a great form of vicarious wish-fulfillment in that respect. And I wish Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman had worked together more.

Stockard Channing (Aunt Francis), besides Grease, is well known for her role on 'The West Wing' as First Lady Dr. Abigail Bartlet for which she won an Emmy, and she is an accomplished stage actress having won a Tony (and been nominated for six others). A few really good movies with her 'Six Degrees of Separation' (a role she created on stage and was nominated for a Tony, then nominated for an Oscar), To Wong Foo.., and Up Close and Personal.
Dianne Wiest (Aunt Jet) is a two-time Oscar-winning actress for Best Supporting Actress for the Woody Allen films Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway. She was also in Footloose (1984 version), Edward Scissorhands, The Lost Boys, and The Birdcage (this one is a must-see!).
Sally's daughter, Kylie is played by Evan Rachel Wood, who nowadays is best known for her roles in the HBO series Westworld (Dolores Abernathy) and True Blood (Sophie-Anne LeClerq, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana). One of her most recent roles was playing Madonna in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story opposite Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al. One of my favorite movies she did was the musical Across the Universe, a visually stunning film by Julie Taymor that uses the songs of The Beatles, and Evan played Lucy. She has an incredible singing voice. The film also features cameos by Bono (Doctor Robert), Eddie Izzard (Mr. Kite), and Salma Hayek.

She and Sally reunited for a night after Sally's husband had passed, while Angelo was asleep from the belladonna in the tequila.

One of my favorite Halloween movies! Its actually based off a book by Alice Hoffman, and she has a whole series now. Magic Lessons is the first one, which focuses on Maria's story (their ancestor), The Rules of Magic is the aunties' story (and its heartbreaking), then Practical Magic, then the new one is The Book of Magic which is the next generation. (I haven't read that one yet).

    Deathwatch beetle. From Wikipedia:
    """
To attract mates, the adult insects create a tapping or ticking sound that can sometimes be heard in the rafters of old buildings on summer nights; therefore, the deathwatch beetle is associated with quiet, sleepless nights and is named for the vigil (watch) being kept beside the dying or dead. By extension, there exists a superstition that these sounds are an omen of impending death.
